1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. The kids and the pets first. Everythingelse is replaceable.

    2. I would definitely do my family and pets first and then the material things. I also know I would not go back into a burning building, that's what my great-grandmother's sister did. The sister went back into their burning home for my great-grandmother's doll, and sadly she died in the process.

    3. I would get my 3 cats and take them out. Once they are safe, I'll see if there is time for the dolls, computers, books or any other non-living stuff. But first thing would be my cats, they are the most important thing

    4. I would think Moggie here would have the best outlook on this since he went through a house fire. Anyone pointed this thread out to him?

    5. there are four people in my house including me. my mum would grab the 2 cats, her fiance and my brother would grab his 2 dogs and i would grab my guinea pig and my doll. depending on how quickly we needed to get out, i would probably grab some of my other things aswell, but my pets and my (future) doll would be the most important. everyone in my family is old enough to know to get out, but if they were asleep i would definitely wake them up, obviously.

    6. This is a discussion I've had quite a bit over the last few months. Mini cyclone ripped through the burbs of Brisbane less than an hour away. Then half of Queensland was flooded, thousands of square miles. Then Victoria caught on fire in the most ferocious disater this nation has seen. Then New South Wales begins to flood.
I don't know why but as we packed to move last year the whole family decided we would shed all of the "stuff" we had. Things we had but did not use. With the unpacking it continued and I have to conofess, it literally feels like a weight off my shoulders.
We were sitting eating dinner and we had the "what would we save now" talk. We tried to guess each others list (everything after people, pets and papers / photos.)
Everyone immediately guessed my doll, Vyolet, and they were correct. My brother amended it to say I'd most likely strap it to the cat and then worry about everything else.
Is it wrong that he is only half right? :)

    7. If it was something I had time to pack and run away from like a predicted situation, they would come with me without a doubt...

However... a fire... I think I would fill a duffle bag with my dolls and other expensive goodies and use it to bust out my bedroom window and escape :XD:

But seriously, life will have to come first and whatnot.

    8. It would be easy in a way. When the situation arises, yes you would first worry about those with lives to save. The dolls and other material items would be last on your mind. I've often thought about this. I have so many things I love that I probably can't replace, but in the end I would much rather my sister were alive than my posters being safe.

But if the time comes, and I could possibly haul my future doll with me, I would take him. I would place him somewhere in the room where he is easily accessible and quickly grab him.

Though adding the doll to home insurance would be a great idea, as they are very expensive! So at least you'd get some money back to replace him.

    9. With something with enough warning (even just severe enough weather that could spawn a tornado) I can tote them to safety in the basement. In the case of a fire. Well, I'd try to get my cat out safely along with myself. He'd be more prone to running into danger because he's flighty. If I had time, I'd probably toss my dolls out a window protected (mine is right over my porch so it'd be a short fall) and pray they made it relatively unscathed, but my family and pets are more important.

    10. Actually, when you're in a REAL emergency, sometimes you just AREN'T thinking. I didn't have my doll at the time I'm thinking of, but I had a fire happen close enough to my house that I had to evacuate. The house next door had gone up because of faulty electric and our roof was close to catching. In such emergencies you don't THINK. I grabbed my dogs and forgot my shoes and coat and grabbed a CD out of my player, but not the player ITSELF and ran out of the house.

I might actually grab the doll without thinking about anything important. It would be whatever is the first thing I think of. Afterwards I was so shaken up I couldn't have told you WHAT I had been thinking when I grabbed my SPIN cd by Darren Hayes. XD I still don't know.

    11. I live in Florida so we have hurricane evacuations all the darn time .. I live on the coast so we get them here at least every other year or so..

I have a plan for my kids, pets house hold valuables and YES my dolls. I also have them insured. YES People you can have your dolls insured!! LOL I mean I have well over $8000 invested and then some total. That's like leaving your car where you know its going to flood.

I take my family photos, Computers, diamonds, gold, Dolls and a few other things and everything else stays for the most part..

An alternative for people is that you may want to get a LARGE safety deposit box at your local bank. They run from $25 to $200 a year depending on your bank and the size. When you know ahead of time something is coming you can store them there. It wont save them from everything but it will a lot of things.

    12. Well I have no pets so my rare book collection would go first, because many of the books would not be easy to replace. Then my doll and any other stuff.

    13. Well I have no pets, so I'd make sure my parents were okay and then try to get my rare book collection out, because many of the books would not be easy to replace. Then my doll and any other stuff.

    14. Yeah. I think that I would try my best to get my dollie but.. if there wasn't time then I guess.. there just isn't time for that sort of thing. I have so many other irreplaceable things in my room (games, books etc) that it would seem silly to take him over those... but... I think, it would just be so easy to do so because Cain sits by my side most of the time and when he's not there, he's on a shelf a metre away from me. ^^;;;

    15. MY house actually DID burn down in the summer of 2007.

At this time, I wasn't into dolls... but I got my pets out first, and got something that my brother gave me before he died. Those are the most important things to me...

I mean, of course I would try to get my dolls out, but as long as I got those things out first...

    16. My dolls would ride in the trunk of the car in their carriers. I don't think I'd want to leave them behind, because I can't really afford insurance on them at the moment. :XD:

    17. Depends on just how much time you have to get out.

In our case we got the dogs out, no time for anything else. Basically it was the clothes we had on our backs.

The cats hid so we didn't have time enough to find them, I damaged the car trying to get it out of the fires way. Everything else burned.

I should point out that it was an entirely wooden structure so it went up very quickly.

There was no time to think, just react.

    18. I have grabbed the one guy once before in an emergency, but got in serious trouble afterwards for endangering my own life over a doll. However, now that I have 2+ dolls, things have changed a bit. I wouldn't be able to grab both XP (an I have a bit healthier fear of dying...).

    19. well, once I get him he'll proably be glued to my arm any way ^-^;;; so it wouldn't be too hard for me to save him, my family/loved ones, and my pets at the same time. my family/loved ones know what to do in emergency situations and can save themselves fairly well so that's a pluse. however, carrying a doll, one tiny cat, and one FREAKISHLY HEAVY cat would be kinda hard >.> that and my cats hate each other...

    20. Naturally, if there was a fire or some other emergency of that sort, I would be more worried about getting my cat, the boyfriend, and my roommate out of there.

However, I've only ever had to deal with hurricane evacuations, given where I live. And you bet your behind I would be bringing Noah with me when I evacuate. He and the cat could chill out side by side in the back of my car. XD Everything else (like his stuff) would get packed into waterproof crates/boxes I own so that if a tree goes through the house it won't get damaged.

If it came down to it, I would leave him behind if I or anyone I care about was in immediate danger. But when you have time to prepare and pack, I don't see any reason for it. I'm very lucky in that I only have one doll living with me right now, so it wouldn't be that big of a stretch to take him with us.
