It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. I'd definitely have to make sure my dogs got out with us before anything else. Renter's insurance can replace pretty much anything except for my pets. :)

    2. It is obvious that human life and living creatures come first, so I won't repeat the obvious statement that has been repeated over and over and over again; I live with two people currently, both of whom are my best friends, and I also live with a house rabbit and two chinchillas. Yada yada yada.

This subject has actually been discussed between Affinite and myself. The critters would be left to her fiancee and my best friend, and the two of us would grab a whole bunch of dolls. We accepted that there would be scratches, marks, and priceless face-ups ruined. But, to us, it is just as important to try and grab the dolls as it would be to try and grab our pets. Neither of us will lie, we both spend a small, but rather considerable fortune on our doll collection and we wouldn't let them perish in a fire or other disaster without trying.

Now, if it was the zombiepocalypse the dolls would be used as ammunition. I'd protect my Miruku and Luna, though. Though, Affinite claims that my Luna would be like, "Oh please, I could take care of all these zombies."

    3. this one is tough for me! I guess it would depend on the disaster and whether or not my kids are in danger. My priorities are straight, my kids come first! if they are in danger, I would gladly destroy my dolls myself if I thought it would keep my girls safe. without a second thought I would abandon my dolls in favor of saving my children. but if the girls are with their grandmother for the night (so i know they are safe) and then there is a storm or a fire at our apartment, I would definitely try to save my dolls as long as I can grab them easily on the way out of the house. I'm no fool, I am not going to endanger my life to go out of my way to save my dolls. My dolls are precious to me, but I am not stupid enough to try to go back for them if they are not in easy reach.

    4. I'm not sure if my dolls would be on my list of things to grab before fleeing in an emergency. First is family, then pets, and then probably electronics.
If I could easily carry my computer in an emergency I would definitely take it. My doll is nothing that can't be replaced, but my computer contains hours worth of time spent in writing and creating artwork.

    5. I have 11 cats...X'D LMAO.
Im serious by the way. I pray no disaster reach me...ever.
And Lux is always beside me so it be easy grab. But she last thing on mind, my cats&the jewelry that my past grandmother gave me...which I should be wearing.

    6. It's on the list, but it's last on the list. Family, pets, money/wallet, computer/exDrive, dolls. Although my babies aren't LE's or anything, so maybe that would change things for other people, but not me.

    7. I've surprised myself in these kinds of situations and the amount of things I can acutally carry. I was once out for a walk with my dog and two puppies were in the middle of the road and a car was coming (though they were at a distance at the time) - I ran out on the road, leash in hand, and picked up these puppies (and they were golden retriever puppies - like 4 months old) and managed to drag them all onto the sidewalk (while my dog was jumping on me mind you), and then to their house.
Just to be clear, I'd be devastated if my room ever caught fire. I am really attached to the things in my room (figurines and posters included) but all my favorite possessions are near me at all times. So in case of a fire, I'd grab the three things (doll, camel plush and blanket - all sentimental value) and bolt it out of there. My dog lives on the first floor so he'd be on my way out and easy to pick up since he always sits at the frontdoor when something is wrong.
We've never gotten tornadoes or hurricanes down here, but if the town had to evacuate (and id we had time) I'd pick up the valuables from above, the dog, the wallet and only if I had like an hour to pack then I'd bring stuff like my laptop, A.L. (my scanner)etc. etc...

    8. My parents are pretty alert, but I'd check that they were able-bodied to go, then gather my dogs, then if there was time stuff my dolls in my backpacker sack (this thing has been such a lifesaver when I've traveled around overseas).

    9. I didn't even consider zombie apocalypse! In the event of that, the fish would definitely stay here...if I was at home, I'd probably leash a dog and bring it with me and I'd let the other dog (who'd probably follow, even unleashed) and the cats go into the wild, they'd be fine during the zombie apocalypse. I'd definitely leave the dolls behind during the zombie apocalypse though...they're worth nothing to me unless I had an SD in which case I'd bring it so I could use it as a club. :3 Well....I might bring along the dolls if I could...I'd probably slowly go insane and I'd need them as human like companionship so they could sort of keep me sane.

    10. This just happened to me a few days ago! We had massive forest fires in the area and had less than 2 minutes to evacuate. As it turns out in an emergency situation I shove Padriac in a bag and run while hyperventilating and freaking out, all after making sure that my puppies are safely in the car. Then I spend a lot of time feeling guilty that I left the other 5 dolls behind (Why didn't I take my puki? Guess I wasn't really thinking clearly) Luckily my neighbourhood was saved by some amazing firefighters...if I had it to do over again I might try to pack more of them, but at the time the doll was kind of a last minute thought on my way out. I always thought in that situation I'd bring them all, but yeah...guess not.

    11. Of course! At least one of them must come..but if I cant readily grab them they'll have to get left behind :(

    12. I only have one doll right now, a mini, so yes-- I'd take him without a second thought.
Along with my messenger bag, which has my notebooks and sketchbook in it, and my laptop.
I'm very protective of my artwork and ideas. It's not about the money, really, but I put a lot of work into my doll, as well as the drawings and writings carried in my messenger bag, and the projects stored on my computer. I would be devastated to lose work that I put so much of myself into. TT_TT

    13. Those of us in Santa Barbara are living through this situation right now. I'm not in a mandatory evacuation or evacuation warning area but do have all my dolls and important stuff packed and ready to go. Ebi on this board has been evacuated but she had time to get her dolls out. Even though you get your dolls and important stuff out it is still stressful to not know if your house is still standing or not.

One thing I'm going to stress is if anyone in a similar situation and gets an evacuation warning, pack your stuff and put it in your car. Last night lots of people in evacuation warning areas had packed but not put their stuff in their cars and when the order came to actually evacuate, they had only 15 minutes to get out. Most had to leave packed items behind.

    14. I would, and have, taken my dolls with me when evacuating. Last fall for the last hurricane, that's actually all we took because it was really sudden. We didn't even bring clothes. Just ourselves, our cats, and my doll.

    15. 1 cat, 1 Doll. The cat carrier is in the hallway beside the shelf doll sits on, beside it is the carrying case with dolls stuff. I think between husband and I we could get both, cat having priority.

    16. I would have to get my parents and pets out everything else is replaceable.

    17. My Family and my pets first, which would be difficult since my cat doesn't like to go outside. Next would probably be my "things of importance" (cell phone, CPU hard drive- the external one, Ace, and my dolls). If I had some serious room to pack up stuff, then I'd go for my lolita and books, but if there was a serious emergency, then I don't think I'd be able to get them all together. Family first, everything else is replaceable to an extent.

    18. oh i dont know if i would... i have cats too and someone must take them with ...
but i want to evacuate my dolls ... and my laptop and my PVc´s ...and my Nutella xDDDD

    19. In any disaster: My daughter and her two bears, those are the top two on the list. After that it's clothing for her, my husband and myself. The External Hard driveandDuncan come last.

If it I had time to pack, I would bring more. But really I need everything for my daughter, she comes first.

    20. I'm a Miami native and we get hurricanes of varying severity every year. But thanks to meteorological advances this is just the type of situation the OP was referring to; having prior knowledge that something big is going to happen. Every hurricane season I make sure I have my big-enough-for-all carrying bag at the ready, and when the threat is big the resinkids get piled into it for their own safety. And during the event that bag sits RIGHT ON MY LAP. Next to me of course are my cat and brother, but the dollies are always ready days in advance when something's coming. One less thing for me to worry about, and more time to prep the things that breathe that depend on me. XD

And it's almost that time of year again, so it's a good thing I stumbled on this thread to remind myself of my own disaster prepareness techniques. XD
