1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. Frankly.. if the house was on fire.. self preservation would probably kick in and all I'd think about would be getting the hell out of there XD

    2. Reading this thread I have concluded that I need to back my important files up onto a flash drive and hang it on Yoru's neck. XD

That being said, my dolls are pretty much my only belongings with real sentimental value. So yeah, if there were an emergency they would be tossed in their carrier and hauled the hell out of here.

    3. I'm from Chile, and after the earthquake I did it, I went to search for my cell phone, glasses, cardigan and my dolls, because I was on a 13 floor and where really terrifying, we didn't know how this building would resisted.
But my dolls came with me

    4. Other people first of course, then pets, then my computer, and then if I still had time I'd go for my dolls.

    5. its threads like these that make me resist buying any more.

    6. hmmmm, in order of importance...then of course if I had time...

      family
      pets
      purse
      computer tower and laptop
sewing machine (how I make my living)
      artwork (portfolia)
      dolls

of course it would all depend on the disaster. Floods (but I live on a big hill) and wildfires here in So Cal are usually in advance enough to load a car. Earthquake...it a family first thing.

    7. I have many dolls, but if there was ever an evacuation, I doubt if the dolls would be the first thing to be resqued. First the kids and our two cats, then credit card and family photos.

If I did get the chance to take any worldly possesions, the first dolls I would take are five of my favorite antique dolls (because I love them, and also they are rare and would be near (if at all) impossible to replace/find again).

    8. In the event of a hurricane (which I doubt since we haven't had a real one since 1991) We would definitely evacuate (high winds are scary enough in my house due to the hill its on) and I'm sure my dolls would go with us since we have a minivan...my sewing machine would definitely go too. In the event of a fire....thats what renter's insurance is for as it all can be replaced. (As far as computer data goes (including photos), all our stuff is backed up with Carbonite so we're covered there.

    9. There aren't many disasters in the UK but if I had time, it would be cats, laptop, wallet and probably Isa, my Genji as he's my oldest resinated character but that's probably it. :D

    10. I've thought about this alot.
And realistically, if it was a sudden emergency I would be busy trying to get my 10 small pets and my cat.
If I was given a little more time to evacuate, I would take my pets, my PS3, any money I may have, a bit of clothing, my dolls and a stuffed animal I've had since I was 5.

I know some things really can't ever be replaced, but surviving is most important.

    11. I'm happy to hear you made it out okay!
And I'm glad you were able to get your dolls.
I wouldn't be brave enough to go back for mine.

    12. My cat would defiantly come first then my doll...then my laptop and anything else I could grab.

    13. My biggest one is tornados (twisters). If it was during the daytime, I'd be at work and only able to pray that Mom managed to get all the pets downstairs in time. With a threat of severe weather I already throw my most special horses into locked cabnets. Danny would probably end up with my resin and china horses in a locked drawer. I'd grab my purse, my story files and my cat and move it...

    14. oh gosh! glad you are ok though.

as for me, i have never been in any natural disaster but i was living in london at the time the IRA were planting bombs all over the place (though they WERE usually kind enough to call up someone and issue a warning first). so i've experienced a few evacuations.

of course this was long before i had even heard of BJD's, but what i did was grab my purse and head for the fire escape like we were told to do. so i guess i'll leave my dolls behind. but i don't feel bad though. at the end of the day, they're not real people and i can get replacements.

    15. Well I would try to get them all out though not at the risk of family or myself obviously..sigh~ I do have a large duffle hanging on the back of the dolly room door........

    16. considering I always have it in my room with me i'd take it-it'd be easy

    17. My attitude is that I'll be damned if some freak event is taking away my cherished things. The humans in this house have an evacuation plan anyway, it's based on "every man for himself" so no one has to rely on anyone, luckily we have a lot of extensions and low roofs everywhere so the windows are very easy to escape through in emergency. So with that in mind I'd have to rescue all my writing (I've a finished draft so I just can't let it go) and the family photos, even if there were flames everywhere I would definitely be charging into that room; and as the dolls are in the same room I'd grab them too, especially Persephone (elfdoll june) because I know how much she means to my sister, and Fiipii (ccc fidelia) because she's limited and adored by us. It does seem like rabid attachment to material things in a way but there's blood, sweat, tears or memories attached to each thing I mentioned above so I think it's worth the risk.

    18. of course. luckily i only have two so even in a fire i could at least grab them and get out. living in a dorm we have fire drills and they always come outside with me. i forgot them once and was in a panic the entire time till they let us back in. as for hurricanes and floods of course they would come with me. no way i'd leave them.

    19. Don't mind if I steal that idea? :D
      'Cause frankly, it's ingenues

    20. have the flash drive on your keychain
