1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. Jasper my cat is always my first priority and then my dolls, I only have a small collection of two so for me it wouldn't be that hard to carry the cat and dolls together if it was an immediate threat...and maybe my laptop but it's needing replacing so ... insurance? XD

    2. My kitty, my sketchbooks, and my laptop are top priority, then my action figures and dolls (I don't have any BJDs yet, but I have some china dolls that I love dearly, and when I get a BJD, s/he will be up there on my priority list).

    3. Dunno....I love my dollies....but they aren't that important than my family and pet, I always can buy anothers....

    4. At the moment I am wondering. Here in The Netherlands, this past week we've had a huge fire at a chemical company and now a train transporting chemicals is on fire somewhere. Though they're issuing warnings and telling people to close their windows, aren't you worried the toxic gases might somehow damage resin?

I don't live near those places though. I know some basic chemistry but I don't have extensive knowledge in this field.

    5. If it was an evacuation, I probobly would. Mostly because I would have to stay in a hotel somewhere anyway so I might as well bring most of my stuff. If it was a fire I think I would be more conserned about getting my two kitties out of the house. >< life over objects.

    6. I just have one BJD so definitely. Of course real, live people come first. And my cat. That's a no brainer. But still, I would take my doll with me. Q u Q My folks would probably make me too, since of all the money put into the hobby. ^^;;; I'd feel so bad if something were to happen to my doll. >>;;;

    7. i would most definitely grab them as long as in doing so i didnt put anyone in danger. then again i only have one so hes easy to get.

    8. Real emergency - no. Maybe my favourite, but to be honest we were thinking about evacuations the other day and I would want to get the kids and pets, my photos (and the computer which has most of our photos on the hard drive), my jewellery (I have my grandmother's bracelet and some jewellery I have made myself or that friends have made for me which is not replaceable in my opinion).... clothes, nappies, a bit of food.... then we'd have a full car. I would love to take one favourite doll, for the kids to take a few favourite toys... it would really depend how much time we had. If I had to choose a handful of things and run I would leave my dolls behind though. I can buy more dolls. I can't get back photos of the kids as babies or my special mementos from their childhood.

    9. My laptop, all my cameras/lenses and my jewellery would have to go first, so I'd only bring extra if I had the room.

    10. I will try to save them, at least my favorite one, but I don't think I do have the capability to carry my dolls, family and cats surely have higher priority.

    11. Usually you have a little forewarning to evacuate. We were under forced evacuation for hurricane Rita, but we found out at about 7 that morning and we had half a day to get packed and get out. Under those circumstances there's plenty of time, and I'd def pack my Imp. If it were something more immediate, like the building is on fire, I think I'd still grab her on the way out of the room! Along with my extended hard drive.

    12. If that kind of situation happen to me, I'll try to save them as much as I can. My dolls are just like my important relative, I'm a only child, so I'm close to my dolls that stay with me all the time more than some of my cousins. They're my friends, my family and also my brothers. [Or maybe my childrens also] I won't let them to fight with bad situations like that alone, I'll try my best to help them out, not only my faverite one. For me, they're all alive and have heart not different from humans. About my family, I'm sure that my parents can help themself for now. They aren't a childrens anymore, so I'm sure that they can survive.[And plus, my house not a big one and it's in the safety village.] I don't have any pet, so I cut it out.

    13. In a dangerous or life-threatening situation.... I have to say, unless one of my family members were hurt, I would grab my dolls. Then my ipod and phone and their chargers. We don't have any pets, sop unless someone was counting on me to save our tank of fish... Even when I go on vacation, I can't bring all my dolls, I'd be too afraid of them being stolen from my hotel room (when I bring even one of them, he/she is constantly with me.) No,when I'm gone, my dolls stay in a fireproof safe.

    14. if I knew ahead of time and had enough time to pack up I would take them with me for sure. but if was a immediate thing my dogs would come first, then my laptop and them.

    15. -before I start, of course I'd save lives before (my family and pets)-

I've always thought about these kind of things.

For example, when I take a plane with my computer, I usually have my computer in my cabin bagage, i.e. with me in the plane, and a smaller bag (shoulder little Kippling bag) where I keep my external disc drive, DS games etc.
Since when a plane crashes you are said to 'leave all lugage aboard', I've alway said to myself 'NO WAI I MUST MAKE A MINI BAG I CAN TAKE WITH ME WITH MY VITAL STUFF' xD

same applies for home stuff... And I've thought alot about my BJD.
It really depends on the type of disaster.
My dolls are worth quite a lot of money (one over 1000usd), and I've always told myself that if I needed money badly, I'd resell her.

If it was a disaster only local, like my country or region, I could take them with me to sell them ASAP later to, e.g. people unaffected by the disaster in another part of the world. This would give me money to be able to reconstruct my life ~

But if the whole world was demolished (errr... Alien attack? LOL), I wouldn't see anypoint of taking them me with me... see what I mean?

Furthermore, I've had a massive flood in my house, about 40cm of water. If the disaster was a flood like this, I'd leave them as they are on a shelf, far from the ground.

It's kind of hard to explain what I feel xd

    16. I honestly don't have indoor pets so heck yes I would grab my dolls! :P I would cry for weeks if I found I left them behind. Good question though. I have wondered the same thing! :D

    17. i think i will try to put all the babies in my bag......
then take one of the large dolls........

    18. Although in my town its unlikely (i've been through 3 cyclones with next to no damage to my house ^^; ) that anything would get that bad our battle plan is computers and anything expensive ^^ so although I might 'chuck' them in a bag at lightning speed (depends how much time I had, if i had like 10 minutes to go they'd all be willy nilly shoved in a bag D: ) but if i had say an hour or something we'd load up the car with the tv/computers/electronics etc and i'd of course grab my dolls. Since we don't have any pets or young kids it'd be easy.

    19. It might be a good idea to leave a bag by your doll's permanent sleeping place!

    20. first my daughters and my husband and if there's time left: dolls and stuff...
