1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. I think it really depends on what the disaster is. If the house was on fire, are there other people in the house? I would worry about them first. If it was with me, definitely. If it was nearby, maybe. Another floor of the house, definitely not. I think in the end, I would let insurance take care of it. I could buy my doll, her wig, and eyes again from the same stores. Her clothes that I have sewn would be a loss, but then again, so would my own. *shrug* I'm not sure.

    2. Well....yes. Of course my family and pets would come first. Once I know everyone's safe, I'd grab Jack (or any other BJDs I have when the disaster strikes) and get the heck out of there.

    3. No. Very few people actually did. There are hundreds of lawsuits going on right now, revolving around people trying to reclaim their pets that were adopted back out during Katrina.

    4. I answered previously that I'd take my dolls. (we have earthquakes, fires... who knows what else?) And my laptop... and my car...

I'm single with no pets, so no problem herding other live things... Hmmm.. papers? I guess I should organize those for an emergency... Seeing what happened in Japan (and Chile and Haiti) always reminds me to get prepared for earthquakes. And I've already seen wildfires burn within sight of my house... So I have the family photos in one spot. But will definitely need to grab my external HDs for the digital stuff... Aside from that--it's the dolls that are precious to me.

BUT... now I have a LOT more dolls!!! It might be that I'd have to take only SOME dolls! I'm not sure how I'd pick!!! *_*

    5. It depends on the situation exactly...For example, if it was something that happened suddenly with no warning, I'm not sure I would remember...but if I'd heard warnings that something might happen, my doll would be in my purse along with all of my ids and credit cards and right next to my bed when I go to sleep or always in the same room with me so that I could grab it at a run.

    6. I think that first i would take out my husband and m pets, after that some important papers, and just in case i had time and space i would take my dolls, because ok, they are part of me but i rocognice that they are much more important things than them.

    7. BAsil would come with me. HAnds down! even if i had to rush back into a burning building

    8. This is why I have insurance that covers my personal property. If it was for a natural disaster, well they're not very common in Finland, except for floods (which usually aren't so bad and I don't live near any river). But but... If there was a fire on my apartment I would definitely first grab my laptop, mobile phone, wallet and any important papers I could (I live alone and I don't have pets so). Dolls would come after that, if I had time, I would save them next.

    9. My first priority would be my guitar I think. Then perhaps the loved ones, I mean they can all run faster than me and swim anyway! Lol! Perhaps the dogs next, but they are small and quick so I'm sure fine. Once the guitar is safe the dolls would definitely be priority I think with my shoes! Likeliness of anything happening in a wee village in England other than a zombie invasion perhaps is pretty slim.

    10. Well, where I live, the only disasters that could really happen are either a fire or tornado, and in both cases, HECK YES, if I have the time! However, my two cats would be the priority, of course, and I would go to extreme lengths to save them. My dolls? Well, I love them, but they are, after all, dolls, not worth dying for, to me. I would only go to save some of the things in my room if I had the luxury to do so. And hopefully I would!

    11. The first things I want to be safe are my family and pets. Dolls will come on the third place. :)

    12. where I live there won't be a flood or other great disaster. But when there is a fire then I will be sure to save my children an cat...I think my husband can help himself! But I never considered my doll's, because I have them since 2009 and they are in the living-room. So I do not thought about it, until now... And I must say: children first than my cat and then I will see...so I do not know. I hope it will not ever come to that point. Insurance will pay it I think!

    13. Cat, dolls, laptop...

    14. If I had time to prepare then yes dolls are in my top save list.
If I had not time well than people and pets first. I should probably look into getting insurance for them 0_0

    15. if this happend after I moved out. I would be by myself most likely so I would take my dolls if I could. It really depends on what the situation was like. If i had more time to prepare or not. It really isn't somthing you know until you are in that situation.

    16. We are currently having severe weather alerts for later today. In this case I had a warning and relocated some things and dolls (including myself) to a safe part of the house in case a tree decides to fall over on us. There’s no reason not to!

But in the event of a fire or something where there was no warning, I’d only take my dolls if they just happened to be in my hands or within arms reach. I don’t have any pets and my family members are old enough and can get themselves out (unless there is injury, in that case they are TOP priority, of course!).

    17. In a situation where I had some notice, I would try to toss my dolls in a bag or pillowcase, along with a few childhood items that are dear to me. That is, after making sure any other living, breathing things are okay.

If it were a situation where I had zero time. If I can see them and reach for them, sure, but they'd have to be right their on the way out to safety. (Of course, the humans and animals would take priority over my dolls, however sad it would be to lose them!)

    18. My doll is in a bag that's right beside my bed since I have cats and they can climb up onto shelves... I don't have a display case, either. But if I needed to evacuate in a hurry, it would be easy to strap the carrying case (yay for Iple's carrying bags for their Y.I.Ds!) onto my back and grab my cats who usually sleep in my bed. I honestly couldn't leave my babies behind- they mean everything to me. I'd leave the doll behind if it meant getting them out.

But if I had a few hours to plan, I'd definitely take my dolls and a few of my rare doujinshi with me... aside from clothes/jewelry, that is. Oh. And my computer.

    19. I've thought about that plenty of times. Considering we had a dryer that we were terrified was going to go up in flames at one point. Though we got rid of it. My room is right next to the dryer.
So I had decided if my dolls were in good reach [and if I was in my room at the time] I'd grab them, hopefully my laptop with them [cord or not. ] Honestly, my baby blanket, my chinchillas on the way out, and make sure my family get out [I'm in teh basement, alll the way in the back corner, so honestly if there's a fire via dryer, I'm mostly screwed, anyways.]

    20. It's funny I was just thinking of this very thing yesterday (before I found this thread) since hurricane season is coming soon to Florida. The thoughts were painful cause I know my dolls would be left behind in an emergency evacuation. My kids and dog first and hopefully time to grab important papers and some clothes. The funny part was picturing myself trying to explain to an insurance adjuster the value of my dolls and all of their related assets. You think I'd be taken seriously?
