Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. I just have too many cats, I'll never have enough time to save the dolls :( But this does remind me that I should re-think about having some sort of emergency/evacuation kit.

    2. If I had dolls and there was a disaster where I needed to evacuate, I would bring them with me. But if it was something like my house burning down, I would work on saving my cats first.

    3. Sadly, if there was an emergency where the need to get out was instant, my doll would not make it out. I would have to get my grandparents out, and then make sure my aunt and uncles got out, and my cat. I love my dollie, but I love my family and my kitty more, and they aren't replaceable.

If, however, it was an evacuation and I had time to pack, you bet your sweet butt Vivica would be coming with me!

    4. First all living people. My dolls are such a huge part of my everyday life I would really do my best to grab them all.

    5. My First priority is my mother and my cat, then would be my family photos and home videos because there the last thing i have of my father so they also mean the world to me. in a emergancy where i can have a fire and water proof safe and have enough time to put all of the things i hold dear to me that i know i cant take i would try to get my dolls in there along with anything else i want to protect that i know can be lost forever. i have thought about this for a very long time im 22 now and i gotta say since i was like 6 or so i was always scared of my house burning down so i defiantly had many ideas.

    6. I would normally say 'Yes, definately!', but after my house actually did catch fire last year, my much-loved off-topic doll did not even come into my mind :(
Luckily, she was unharmed by the fire ~
Although these dolls are expensive and very often a lot of love, time and effort has been put into them, they are just dolls... Lives are much more important.
... However, if my doll just happened to be with me at the time, I wouldn't just put her down and leave her ~~ :aheartbea

    7. First thing what I would do if our house catch fire I would take my animals. I have 5 guinea pig so there wouldn't be enough time to take dolls with me. But if I had time to take even one doll I would take my biggest doll.

    8. I would take care of the loves ones first, and if I were able, I would rescue my computer over my dolls, as the computer cost more than 1.8k in US dollars and I only have two dolls thus far.
I need my computer to do work/projects/etc. I love my dolls but, I need my technology for daily functionality work wise.

    9. First, I would evacuate my dog. He is more important for me, he is like my little brother and he is really irreplaceable. But if I could rescue my dolls too, I would take all of them !

    10. Well, first of all, I live with my fiancé, and I think he and I would rescue the pets first, but then, yes, I think my dolls would come out next of all the inanimate objects in the house. As well as probably the laptop xD

    11. Since I live alone right now, first my pets then my dolls. In a perfect scenario. But I don't know. I thought about it the other day too and I know I would do everything in my power to save them.

    12. Since the big flash fire in SanBernardino, CA, when my friends and classmates smelt like wood smoke for a week and the valley looked like Pompeii from the next hill top city, and I don't even want to think about how lucky so many people I know were, we've all had the emergency evac plan. The problem would be getting back home if no one is home and there is a blockaded area.

The laptops are kept in cases when not being used out of simple habit. We have the emergency tub o' stuff where we can grab it on the main path to either door. My cats are apartment cats, they don't go outside. So we (or one if us who is home) calmly take the laptops and the big 'emergency tub o'stuff', and my dolls first and throw them in the SUV (it has electrical outlets, and it's in the driveway the most). This makes the cats nosy and fussy thinking we are going out, so they come see what we are up to. All the non-running away stuff is taken care of in five minutes flat. That gives us time to concentrate on the cats. California authorities like to say be ready to go in 15 minutes, so that's our plan. We also have secondary tubs in case we have more time. Paranoid, hell yes, and proud of it. And I'm not leaving my dolls behind because why the heck should I? I'd just have to make sure I was aware of what any one else wanted grabbed if I were the only one home. Seems like the computers are the main possession item.

    13. You know I have cats and people to focus getting out of the house should there be something immediate like a fire, but even then... I only have two dolls who are MSDs. Its only going to take me two seconds to shove them both down my pants so my hands can be free to take of everything else XD I assure you i will find a way to save my resin babies while also saving everyone else

    14. I actually did have an emergency just yesterday in which I needed to evacuate my home. I took my BJD Chaucer and my cats, both of which are my most important things I have in my home..

    15. Most likely to be no...sad but true because my first priority would be my family members and my pets because they are my most precious n___n

    16. If it was a fire or something, I'd make sure to get the family out and make an effort to rescue the pets, and if there was time, my photographs. And only then I'd think of my dolls.

If it was an evacuation, it would depend on how much room I had. I love my BJDs, but I also love my cross stitch pieces and my dolls' house miniatures. I couldn't say which I loved more, but I do know that the BJDs are the least expensive and the easiest to replace.
I also own 11 cats, so they would probably take up all the available space. LOL!!!

    17. I think anyone with a good sense of priorities would know that family members and pets go before dolls. In an immediate emegency, dolls wouldn't be a concern for most people I think, which applies to me.

Though if it was a 'pack up and go' evacuation, my doll and laptop would probably go with me along with my family and pets. ^^

    18. So in order of priorities...
      1) Family & pets
      2) Family heirlooms
      3) Other valuables such as computer/external HD with all my pics, dollies...

Now let's say this is like the zombie apocalypse we are talking about...
Well forget everyone and everything else I'm going for the shotgun! :P Just kidding.

    19. You get the shotgun, I'll take the barret and the G3 SG1.. weaponary aside though i agree with your priorities.

    20. Sa-weeeet! Don't forget some grenades and mortars. Considering that I live on a military base... I'm ransacking the Military Police headquarters. I'm gonna look like Rambo! Dang zombies.
