Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. Zombies hmm....we actually have a plan for this. Forgo the "no car on apartment grass" thing, throw in the can food supplies, the cat and the guns and head to either walmart or the mall and barricade the place. Given enough time, if I had a doll, yes I would grab mine. For a normal emergency, I have all my photos on my laptop and that's 2 with one stone but my parents and the animals come first.

    2. I'd be worrying too much about my family to really consider it.
But if I did, I think I would only grab one (My limited edition one, simply because he can't be replaced)
Though it would be devastating losing my dolls, and they feel like my children sometimes, family and my own life is far more important.

    3. These would be my prioritys-
      1. Family/Pets
      2. Dolls
      3. Camera, laptop, ect.

    4. I've been thinking about this a lot recently, mainly because I keep dreaming about having to pack because something bads going to happen and I've got to get to safety.

My mums my top piroity, but she should be able to get herself out if anything bad happened. Next is my fave bear, I've had him years and I'd hate to lose him. then my dolls. then my manga's (not all of them, but my faves) and then my laptop. if I had time I grab a handful of my clothes and my dolls clothes/accessories, if I didn't it doesn't matter.

I also need to grab my walking stick or I'm going no where, maybe that should come first or at least second lol

    5. It's funny I found this thread because I've actually thought about this a lot :). The plans I have is mostly based around just getting out of the house. The things I would grab would be:

      1) my leopard gecko Momo,
      2) my dolls,
      3) my laptop plus any other electronics I could manage. My main focus would be on grabbing my expensive stuff.

Our dogs would follow us as we leave, so no real worry there. Depending on how much time I'd have, I'd probably pull my car up to my bedroom window and begin wildly flinging stuff outside trying to save as much as I can lol. I guess it all depends on the severity of the situation. For instance if there were a tornado or hurricane, I'd make sure that my pets were safe first :).

    6. To me this is a bit like saying "would your plasma HD screen TV go with you?" Mine cost about the same as one or two of my dolls, and frankly, it would just as much of a pain to get out of the house in an emergency when I'm only thinking about my family's and my own survival. If we had been notified beforehand and there was enough time, I'd probably take one doll in order to make sure that I had room still to pack essentials like water, food and clothes. If it was an instant thing, I wouldnt' think about any of that stuff. I'd already be wearing the bracelet my gran gave me, and as long as my family was safe, I'd leave everything else behind.

    7. From a disaster stand point a couple years ago Our house caught fire, Pets and living things were our first concern, and at the time I had so few dolls they all could fit in 2 boxes and They got crammed together and Brought out. I'd abandon electronics and jewelry and stuff because I wear all my valuable stuff, But I would probably grab at the very least my most precious dolls and run!~

    8. I've thought about that, too - especially since there have been so many natural disasters lately. Of course, the family and pets would come first, followed by my external hard drive (all my photos are stored on that) and the folder with important papers. Then it would depend: would we need food & water? Camping gear? Survival "stuff"? If not, I'd definitely grab my two favorite dolls. Skip the clothes, they're replaceable!

    9. My doll is not a priority for me.

    10. I would ALWAYS grab my laptop before anything else. (I have no humans to worry about ;)) I have half-written books, photographs from the last fifteen years of my life and a whole lot of other important stuff on my laptop. I would also grab my Treasure Box, which is essentially a plastic storage box in which I have old diaries, photographs, birthday cards, letters and other significant objects. I figure that since the box has wheels, I would push it along with my dolls sitting on top of it while carrying my laptop bag on my shoulder, with my childhood toy Peter Pan under my arm and carrying Hanzo in his bowl in my free hand (Hanzo is my fighting fish ^^). Yep. That's about how it would go. Unless I could also find a way to grab all my books...hmmm...I love too much stuff *_*:...(

    11. My mother, rat, and lizard would most definitely come first. If my doll was in close proximity, then yes. I would grab my bjd. I wouldn't obviously run into a fire to grab him, though. My life is more important than a doll. But if it was an emergency that I could plan for, like evacuating for a bad storm or something, my doll would definitely come with me.

    12. Well, I know what I would do if there was a fire cause the firealarm went off a couple weeks ago. When you get shocked out of bed at about 4.30 in the morning then there's not much else on my mind at least, than to get out. So that's what I did. Only thing I grabbed was my phone and key to lock the door. Plus I put on some pants and a shirt.. :P But that was it. My dolls, computer, photoalbums etc wasn't even on my mind. Luckily there wasn't a real fire. Just some funny person who thought it would be fun to set off the alarm.. -_-
However, if there was a disaster I could prepare for, then I probably would take my dolls, computer and photoalbums.

    13. I've thought about this as well because I actually don't have many possessions and I prefer it that way and it was the biggest factor against buying a doll in the first place. So since I decided it was important enough to me to get, the doll would definitely be coming with me. The first thing I would grab would be my purse and then my doll. I'd only grab my purse first (and instead of my laptop) is because I carry an SD card full of anything of importance that my laptop would have such as photos in there. And usually my all important necklace would either be sitting in my purse or around my neck. I have no pets and of course, my boyfriend would be priority but I get the feeling that he'd be running around trying to save more stuff than I would.

    14. I live with my sister and two pets. Being me, I'd probably end up dying trying after saving those three and then running back to get my art supplies and doll. xD I don't want my Faber-Castell graphite and charcoal set to burn, or my tablets, my laptop, my portfolio and my sketchbooks. Jesus Christ...

    15. I have always thought that I would indeed pick up important possessions in the event of a fire/disaster, despite it potentially endangering my life. So I probably would grab my doll, my childhood stuffed animal, perhaps a sketchbook, and other possessions holding sentimental value. I would make sure my family was okay before getting my stuff though.

    16. Hmmm...well, I guess I'd be worried about my family, but they have their own legs and arms, so I probably wouldn't need to "save" them...most likely books and a dress or two go in a bag, my cat goes in a box and my dolls go in my arms and I take it all out the window with me. I'm even on the first floor! Handy. :)
Of course, I only have two dolls...

    17. I would definitely take my doll, but not before I grabbed a bear I've had since I was 5 and my son of course :P

    18. I don't think I would. I'm .. actually expecting a huge earthquake sometime in California. So many rumors and whatnot. x_x
Don't know if I can believe them or not, but I'm still pretty anxious with all the things that's being said about Cali.

But knowing this, I'm willing to buy my first doll. It'd be sad that I wasted like 600 dollars only to have it washed away/buried away somewhere after only keeping her for a bit, but I think personally I would try to get my grandma, my dog, and myself somewhere safely ASAP.
      So it's like this: if an earthquake were to happen in Cali (my area) a Tsunami would most likely come right after, which means I'd have to try and find some place high. It's better than just waiting around low ground and doing nothing you know? Worth a shot trying to get my grandma safe at the very least. Though tbh I'm even doubtful about my dog. x____x I'd seriously try and take her with me, but if I just had to let go of her because of the situation I might. ;_____;

Ah I'd also prolly try and grab the money (if possible) I have in my drawer next to me just for emergency purposes.

    19. That's pretty much me. I did tell my parents the other day that in the event of a fire, I will be kicking out the screen in my window and throwing things out onto the lawn. I have too many sketchbooks I'd hate to lose. Everything else I'd HAVE to have would fit in my backpack, including my doll.

    20. I'd definitely make sure that my family/cats were all safe, and then take my boys with me. If there was no time... Well I'd be very sad, but I know that lives are more important.
