Disaster! Must evacuate! Will your dolls go with you?

Jun 29, 2008

    1. I dont have many people around living with me. I dont have cats or dogs cuz my cats died several time, I dont really plan to have any cats anymore.. My boys always around me, and sleeping with me. Cuz I am such a worry-ward and scared to leave them alone at home, they came to my office almost everyday too, at least, one of them.. So basically, I will grab them while saving my parents, that's what I plan. My boys are part of my life, as much as the livings, I cant separate with them too...

    2. My family ( inc pets ) go first...
wich includes about 20 pets ^^'
If I cant save all of them I stay in the house.
I couldnt live with escaping my house
      while leaving someone behind.

    3. They would definitely go with me. I have actually thought about this and I have evacuation contingency plans for the boys in the event of a fire or a flood. There are even cases standing by; their exit would not necessarily be dignified, but I would definitely get them out. Definitely. They would be my priority.

My parents (unless they were in trouble of course!) can move for themselves as autonomous people, and I have no pets anymore. :( So now, I just have my boys and me to shift for. :fangirl: Them and my Shigurui DVDs and manga. O_O

    4. lol...well id prob Crate the Dog first than sence I only got 2 dolls so far id take At least Eric, but if I had a BUNCH like as many as I seen ppl have Id just bring my favs

    5. Where I am the risk of things such as floods, tornadoes and earthquakes are slim to none (the most extreme earthquake I felt in the UK did the extent of just wobbling stuff in my room) so things like that I don't have to worry about.
In the case of fire however that depends where I am. If I were at home then I'd make sure my family was safe, along with the dog although they are all capable and sensible enough to get out, and drag luca by his collar if he hadn't already fled. Considering I generally have Gabby near where I am he wouldn't be a problem to grab, and if I were downstairs and near it I would grab my external as that has all my University work backed up on it.
Now if I was at University then that is a different matter altogether. In my halls last year our fire alarms went off so many times it just became a part of life, and it got to the point where I was just wandering outside after stepping into shoes, grabbing my keys while still reading my book, Gabby in arms x3 If it was something serious though in my next year I would first ensure my friends were okay, and considering I tend to keep them all in a bag, the bag with my inhalers, my medication, my purse and keys in, given time I would put my external in there and considering I can be about 90% sure the boys would be near me they would just be grabbed; wouldn't care about their clothes or anything like that I would just lug them in my arms.
The way I see it is that my laptop can be replaced easily; as long as I have my external where everythings backed up getting all my work back wouldn't be a problem. Dolls would only come second in such an event (and even then all their extra's could stay behind; they can be replaced a lot easier than the dolls themselves) to friends and medication; as lets face it if I was in such a serious situation chances are I would need atleast one inhaler more than anything else x3

    6. No, Hard cold truth is that I have been in a bushfire situation with fire raging within seven metres of my home. In a romantic vision, yes the dolls would come but a resounding no when it comes to the crunch as the dollar factor would be so irrelevant and the resin factor would become low priority in this scenario.
When the fires were here, I was in Sydney which is almost 2 hours away. I had friends check the cats and dogs and spread wet paper in the gutters to help lower the home risk.
When we came back, I knew my daughter and pets were safe. Me, well I was down in the paddock gently calming my huge Clydesdale, did not even check the house was safe! :aheartbea:aheartbeaNo matter how beloved the dolls may be, I would always choose beating loving hearts to save above all others.

    7. Umm Money saved up goes first then my box of jewellry and then my doll and then I would knock on everyones door shouting my head off to get out of the house on my way outside.

    8. Well, that depends on how much time I have. I have to worry about myself, my husband, our son, and my cats first. But if I've got the time to get them (the dolls) packed up and out, after my family, you bet they'd go with me. In case of something like a fire? Depending on how/where it starts, I'm one who will do what I can to put it out myself (we've already had one electrical fire in this house...my dad and I got it out though.) after getting my husband to take my son to safety, and getting the cats out of the house. In case of a natural disaster...again, if I CAN get my dolls out I will. If I can't...I'll be VERY VERY upset. But again...my husband, son, and cats would HAVE to come first, because I can NOT justify letting a life be lost to save inanimate objects, no matter how much I love them. Which is why I also intend to get a fire, and waterproof safe to keep my dolls in when away from home, so if something like that DOES happen I know they're more likely to be safe and recoverable in their safe. While my dolls will go everywhere with me...I know there will be vacations and things that I just can't safely take them along, and so I'll need someplace safe to keep them while I'm gone, or I'll just worry the entire time we're gone.

    9. If it was a fire I would probably be too rushed to think of a doll. =(
But if it were a hurricane or something of that sort, I would definitely pack 'em up and take them with me to wherever I go.

    10. If there were any kind of emergency like that i would definatly take my BJD! He is like my baby! If something happened to him i would be bawling for months! I just couldnt bear the thought of something happening to him! I love him so much!! xO

    11. I'd Get my Family out first.... Then My pets maybe my laptop and depending on how many i had at the time maybe my most import or favortie doll... depends on the situation. Dolls can be replaced over time right?

I Might Take them if i was already holding them too. But i guess if there ever is situation i aways have my important things already packed and I Would probably have My doll already packed cause he means a lot

    12. My family and I once had to evacuate my apartment building, this was before my mum and i got our first bjd's and as this happened in the early morning, we grabbed our fur kid, put in him in his carrier and evacuated the building in our PJ's. Luckily it was a false alarm, but i had always been asked what i would do in a situation like this and never could answer until i had to evacuate and i now know that If this were to happen again i would make sure that my family (including my fur kids) were safe and i would grab a few important things like important documentation and things like that and if i still had time then i would grab my bjd.

    13. Are you kidding? All of my boys would go with me. I can replace the sculpt easy yes, but the "soul" never. If they got left behind I'd feel like I was leaving family. I love all three of my boys so much. We were recently under hurricane watch and the first three things I took to the basement were my boys. I would be lost without them. I've had one for a year and the others for very little. But, they are like my kids and that's just how it is. I couldn't see leaving my kids behind.

    14. I've been thinking about this for a while too xD Just those 'what ifs!'
Honestly I'd make sure my family and my dog were out of the house first before grabbing for any dolls or anything else.

      Scary thought Dx I think the priority would go up because it's not yours AND that doll could be very percious to that other person. Though...if the ceiling was going to fall right ontop of the doll and if I would attempt to grab it I'd die....I honestly wouldn't do it. But if the case was that I had enough time to grab dolls or other valuables. Then yes,I'd most likely grab them ^^;

    15. If the doll wasn't mine, it would depend on the situation and whose it was..only if the doll belonged to one friend of mine in particular would it be worth saving the doll from a flat out emergency. Odds are, my dolls and hers would be in the same place so if I had time to grab mine I would be able to grab hers. It helps that together we would only have 3 dolls. :P

obesekittens: just so you know, that is an INSANELY clever idea about the list posting. o_o I'm going to make out a priority list right now for varying situations!

    16. Well... if it were something urgent and I really need to run at that very moment, I think I'd just grab my bags of valuables (they're always in only one bag... my wallet, iPod, cellphone, PSP) and just get away ASAP. However, if I had like... ten seconds, I'd unplug my external harddrive (it's pretty light ^.~) and get my favourite doll... If I had TWENTY seconds, I'd do all that, just with... a pair of dolls, so one doesn't get all lonely, haha. I'd get a bag too. If I had ten minutes... Well PERFECT. My valuables, external harddrive and some other junk would go into one bag, and my dollies into another. x)

As for other PEOPLE... if one of them were in danger, I'd help out. If I still had time after that... then I'd do what I said earlier.

    17. If it was a disaster where I could pack I would take them, if it was something like a fire or a tornado I'd take the cats and the dog. They're my real children(my cats).

    18. Marie has a lot of sentimental value. She's practically a precursor to my engagement ring so if a natural disaster occurs, she's coming with me! Her and my teddy bear. Ha-ha-ha!

    19. I'd grab my dolls. Infact I did, During the earthquakes in japan while I was in april. I grabbed my dolls and hid by the door in my hotel o.o (google said to hide under a sturdy table or something not run outside, and yes I googled safety instructions and chatted on msn during the whole thing XD) Lol After the first 7 I though shit maybe I should grab my wallt and passport too >< Not just the dolls and plane tickets ><

    20. If I were seriously in danger, i'd still rush to get my favorite doll.. I just love them too much. =[
