1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discussion thread for Limhwa Limho Mano

May 21, 2007

    1. Nope! I just turned 61!

And now I must start saving for an ELF!

    2. JennyNemesis, I even bought an Elvis photo book so I could study the eyebrows and other facial features. The eyebrows seem to be particularly tricky as his brow is kinda low, but fits an Elvis face. I guess it'll be an Elvis/David hybrid when I finally get around to it. I was thinking of the younger Elvis as in the movies rather than the rhinestone 70s Elvis. I considered ordering the tanned but am on a white resin lark, hence the David.

nancy, Yay, I'm a baby, then. I'm the oldest in Hawaii, though, I think, unless someone else pops out or we convert somebody's mom. Ok, I'm older than most of the moms too! It's fun having doll friends of all ages. Gotta do the over 40 thread someday.

Catrina, the color and makeup comparisons are always incredibly appreciated and useful when making the which one to choose decision. Those who live nearby are sure lucky.Though seeing leads to wanting leads to buying.

    3. When it comes to the age thing, its really the opposite. Sure people say dolls are for kids, but for as long as dollmaking/collecting has been around most collectors are actually of the older generations. Especially when it comes to antique dolls. I think this is because many young people get tired of dolls and turn to other things. Then at some point later in life if they really like/love dolls they get more serious about it, especially when they have jobs and can afford them.

My grandmother loved dolls and I'm pretty sure I got my love for dolls from her. I think as bjds get even more well known, the more we'll see of the older collecters. I'd be surprised if there isn't someone in their 70's or older already. I'm only 23. XD

Congrats, Nanaylin we're looking forward to seeing him! ^^

    4. .... Mano Elf!!! *squeak*

St.James, could that be the straw that breaketh the camel? <3 Yeah! I always thought this was a face that belonged right at home in your pantheon of exotic/realistic beauties.

Dabacpac, so how about an Elf Elvis? Ah, let's not get ahead of ourselves here. *hee*

Nanyalin, *whee!* I can't wait to see what you'll do with him! Be sure to tell us ASAP, and don't skimp on the pictures... you know we're greedy for pictures. <3

    5. Haha, sure, jenny! I planned to take them today, but the light was really poor. Mu boy has passed trough a full aesthetics course... seams removal, general sanding, face modding (sorry, but this was planned since the very beginning).... no I can tell, to sand him is not only possible, but in my humble opinion, very recommendable. His texture is now way smoother, and he has a different color... he is lighter, and reflects the light on a different way. I am very pelased with the result. I alsomodded his cheeks without any problem, all you have to do is to proceed carefully and lower the grid of the sandpapers progresively, for a smooth finish, them polish, and then coat with msc. The results are amazing, I can't wait to show!

    6. :truffle:whitetruffle
I won't be in my hometown of Gomorrah this summer to show you everything.. and not sure if it's the same resin as Supia's. The white and beige urethanes are a matte finish. The tanned resin seems to have more of a sheen than those. And the pinky white French resin is also matte but translucent. I'll miss seeing you again, and JennyNemesis too... *sighs* must concentrate on the casting project here.

Re: the Mano Elf. He's going to happen but no date set yet. Hope he looks like Orlando Bloom. Legolas was hot.

      Until then, there is chocolate.
      :chocoberry:chocoheart

P.S. Nanyalin, can't wait to see! You are very brave :D

    7. Oh, I've wanted a Mano since the day he was released, but Martine is low on the totem pole around here and has had to wait around at the end of the line for an avatar. :( He's going to have an Aubrey Beardsley/Lord Dunsany sort of style to him.

I am keenly interested in the results of said casting project. :3nodding:

I'm very curious to see whether or not Limwha changes anything about his face to make it more elfin, rather than simply adding elf ears. The Half-Elf girl has a sleeker look to her features than the Human girl does, so I'm kind of hoping for the same. It was so hard to decide between the Half-Elf and Roda at the time, that I'm really glad there's another Limwha sculpt out there for me. :aheartbea

    8. Ooooh, an elfin Mano! I had my suspicions ever since I asked
about the possibility of optional parts for him in the news section,
and Catrina said Limhwa was working on a "project," and that it wasn't
another tiny! I hope this also means it is possible she'll work on more Mano
optional parts, like feet and hands -- some with claws would be great!
Hombre needs some real claws. ^_______^

I hope she doesn't change the facial features too much, I love the sculpt
as it is -- a half-sleep plate, or a full-closed eyes one would be too cool!

    9. What about an optional elf plate? ;_;!!! He woud make such a great dark elf in tanning skin! It would sove my entire doll life XD

    10. Catrina, I don't know if this is the best thread to ask this on, but have the new muscled chests been shipped? I ordered one when the tanning boy was first announced, in French resin, paid by Paypal, and haven't heard anything since. Maybe it's been announced on another thread I don't sub to, but could you let me know, PM me or something?

      Thanks!

      Susan

    11. Dang, Nanyalin! You've outdone yourself again!! :fangirl: Ransetsu is a knockout. And even modded, you can definitely still tell he's related to the rest of the Mano family.

A tan elf faceplate? :drool Wow. I don't even do elves, but if such a thing were ever available, I sure would be persuaded to start. <3 I love the magnetic faceplate system thing he's got going on. It makes eyeball-changing a breeze. Expression-changing would be even cooler, if he someday got sleepy or elvin plates to collect.

    12. Wow. Don't even get me started on the optional faceplate thing. I actually didn't realise Mano had a faceplate system until I saw JennyNemesis suddenly pop his face off in front of me. :o I also think that optional feet that are sort of relaxed and slightly pointed would be great too - you know, lounging around barefoot looking pretty in nothing but a pair of jeans kind of feet, not standing feet.

    13. I got good news from Limhwa this morning-- the French resin (which had been in shortage all over Korea due to an importer's error) has arrived and she is planning to ship the remaining French resin dolls direct from Korea, and the chest parts, Dreaming Half Elf faces, and high heeled feet. We're really sorry about this delay, it was unforeseen and has really thrown several companies for a loop over there. Things seem to be finally getting back on track.. so thanks for your patience.

Regarding the Mano Elf coming as an optional face part, it's going to be her decision.
I'm dying to see him.. what a treat!:truffle:whitetruffle:chocoheart

      Thanks, everyone!
      Catrina

    14. Thanks, Catrina!
I was wondering what had happened and that explains it. I have no problem waiting myself, but Johan, my Mano, is getting psyched to have that sexy chest:lol: and these dolls, they pester you all the time for new bods, new clothes, new wigs, you name it. Worse than kids!:doh

    15. I bet if we tallied the total costs it would come out to be the same as having real children! @.@

    16. Where to Shop for Limhwa Limho Mano

      Pants:
      animemom
Dollmore pants/jeans do fit over his butt and hip area. They are snug and he sits funny in them, but they fit!!

      nathankatt
He can squeeze into SD16 khakis and cheerydoll jeans.

      Yuu-chan
4D Flax and Cassia style pant will fit (Flax seems to be discontinued). You can find them on the Seasons page of 4D (http://www.vier4d.com/)

He can squeeze into Iplehouse SD-13 jeans (no longer on Iplehouse) and the zippered Iplehouse zipper cargos for Hound (also no longer there)
*I figure its handy to have these if you catch them on the Marketplace.

      SusanHedrick
Petiteballerina on DoA has made up patterns for Mano and is probably taking commissions.

      Stella Maris
You can get pants from talented DOA member Marsh, she makes leather and fabric pants custom.

      JennyNemesis
He can wear SD13 Tony default pants.
I've got a pair of Dollmore's older Hound-sized cargo pants that fit my Yukinojo's big SD16 butt and fit Mano too... but the waist sits way up high (grandpa-style XD). Mano can ju~ust squeeze into Volks's SD16 pants if they are fitted; they're fine if baggy.

      Shirts:
      Yuu-chan
Senior Delf tops fit (but are short in the sleeve -if they are long sleeved).

Iplehouse Hound dress shirts fit bit the snap style ones are snug (on a 1st ed chest, SMCs might not allow for the snaps to be done up) and cannot be done up at the collar as his Adam's apple gets in the way XD.
Iplehouse Hound dress shirts with real buttons do fit him with room to spare.
SD sized tees from Iplehouse may be too short in the waist or look funky as Mano has broader shoulders.

4D Pyracantha jackets (for SD17) fit him so well, it comes in two styles (pattern wise) :3 (on the Fusion page of 4D)

Magic Tailor knit hoodie sweaters fit him as well. I got mine 2nd hand, so I don't know how easy they are to find.

      Wigs
      Yuu-chan
Leeke 8-9 fit reasonably well (I recently tugged Sky's so its a bit over his ears which keeps the wig secure while not being really obvious).
DOT wigs should fit him nicely.

      earth.spirits
I have found that a variety of wigs in size 8/9 or size 9 fit my Luis fine, including Jpop, regular Monique's, Luts, some wigs by Posh Dolls + custom mohair wigs I have purchased. He has a head circumference of exactly 9".

      JennyNemesis
He can also wear Iplehouse fur wigs. They're shaped specially for tall narrow heads, and they have notches cut out for the ears!

      Shoes
      Yuu-chan
Senior Delf shoes should fit him quite nicely (I've tested him in boots and shoes, the boots are super easy, the shoes require loosening the laces and a bit of work but do fit).

      Misc

      Eyes
Eyeco eyes work well with his smaller size and eyewell shape.

      Yuu-chan
Gumdrops 12mm eyes fit fairly well in his head (only a tiny amount of gap) and give a very realistic eye size.

One may need to use duct tape circles to get the eyes to stay in.

      Yuu-chan
I have used Luts Plastilina with no problems in my Mano.
He's got 12mm glass eyes from Soom which leave some gaps on the side closest to his nose but aren't too bad.
I'm expecting some 12mm high dome Gumdrops in True Olive soon, I'll let you know how they work.

Accessories: Jewelry, belts, misc clothing bits

      Yuu-chan
Iplehouse ties will hang nicely on him (not too short, so long as you get the knot right XD)

    17. Re-posting the list to add that Gumdrop eyes will also work for him. I have a pair of 12mm high dome (which really isn't high at all) and I think they look lovely in him.
      ETA: These are True Olives

    18. Yuu-chan, that's excellent-- you have literally JUST saved me from posting a photo-request here or in the galleries specifically asking if Mano can wear Gumdrops in 12mms or 14mms. :love Wow, do they really fit? No gaps at the corners with 12mms? Whee!

Oh, great, but now he'll want Java Frost eyes and Root Beer eyes and his own pair of True Olives and...

    19. The eyes fit him pretty durn well. As far as gap-age goes, you really have to pick him up, and look into the corners of his eyes too see that the eye isn't perfectly aligned with the eye-well. In terms of overall fit, they look small in my hand, but fill up his eye.

If you look closely at the first picture you can see the gap.
Its far smaller than what he had with glass eyes and really, you have to be on that angle to see it.
So, no more gap than what you'd see with any pair of doll eyes.:aheartbea
