Discussion thread for Limhwa Limho Mano

May 21, 2007

    1. earth.spirits: *fluffs* I'm glad you're looking forward to it too. *grins* A buff chest certainly suits Luis to a T, you gotta post more pics of him. I love your photos. <3 When I first took the new chest out of the box the difference in pec size didn't seem like very much but once I got it on Hikaru I could tell the difference immediately. It is great, *wiggles* I hope tomorrow comes faster. XD

Jenny: I have to agree that Limwha's photos are very..busy. Very lovely, artistic and professional, but they can also make it hard to see the sculpt clearly. I am pretty sure though that it has differences from Mano, but of course it is going to still be similar because it's Elf Mano, not Elf something else. XD The point of the sculpt is to be an elfin version of Mano not a completely different look. ^^ Its been stated before that the Elf is more sensitive looking, and I think abit more noble too.

I'm fairly certain it's not just paint because it's not just divot thats less deep, but the outer edges seem less puffy. ^^

earth.spirits: I'm sure someone will help us out with some pictures of a blank Elf head and more in general sooner or later. *hopeful*

Jenny: *shakes head* Nope, once I saw that I couldn't slip the bar out of the slot and down the neck like I planned, I went and un-hooked his feet. Then I disassembled him from there. Taking him apart wasn't hard, putting him back together though was a real pain in the neck. *rubs back of neck* I left his right arm alone on the string since I knew it would be a real bear to deal with it since the knot was near that one. I found his left arm to be the easiest to put back together in comparison to the legs.

His legs though! Whats the deal with that tiny string sized hole in the thigh/knee? X.X Its the next biggest part of the whole doll and it has a smaller channel than the rest! And I had to put the left leg together twice because I accidentally put the left leg on the right side. XD *lol* I took acouple minutes to laugh at myself when I realized it was on the wrong side after all that work. The bag ties I used were the little coated wire ones, I twisted three of them together end to end to make them long enough, but when it came to pulling the string through to the ankles one would come undone from the rest because of the force. 9.9 I had to then use the ties to get the shoelace(ribbons would of been better perhaps) through the shin to pull it through the string loop then back down through the shin so I could use the shoelace to pull the string through the ankles. Hooking the foot back on required a foot of my own to hold the leg still while my fingers get the metal hook back on the string loop. Repeat for left leg because the skinny bag ties worked best when it came to that tiny hole in the thigh/knee. >.>

*realises something* Oh yeah...I could of used pipe cleaners instead of bag ties. *facepalms* I have a whole bunch of them and one would of been enough to do the whole job.

*giggles* You can count on the notice when its posted. :3

That aside...I can't seem to get my super powers to fit his wig on neat and snug like its supposed to. @.@

    2. I forgot to mention that the head bars are now glued in for the Limhwa dolls, at least the 57cm girls. My Eva's head bar is glued in and when she came to me she had a chip at the headback. So I was really in a panic, and yeah I had to unstring her from the feet which was easy, but once I got my replacement part, putting her back together was come hell and high water! And I had no kind of stringing tool, my arms will never be the same:lol:

    3. enzyme, how is that you achieve that surface piercing look? i love it

    4. Enzyme, Bill from Eyeco is very nice, and always answer questions. I think I know where to get pupilless glass eyes.... but not sure you need glass one
I've got problem with my pastels payment(( have to resolve it so it take longer for my Mano to get a face...

    5. *_* Ayyyyy, carrumba, Hombre!! Mmf! Ahh, it's a shame he's not allowed to wear pupils, for those dragon eyes would be teh bomb on him. I hope Eyeco fills out their coming-soon Fantasy section with pupilless low-domes.

Dang, that pic totally made me forget what I was here to talk about.... *wuff* Oh, yes, the mouth. The more closeup pics I compare with Mr Elf Man, I am indeed seeing the subtly different mouth-shape, less dent & less puff. Oh very subtle differences. I wanna see those two photographed together. She should do a Dark vs Light promo with them. <3 (I like my pouty dark man!)

@Luminaire, stand up and take a bow... You did that with TWIST-TIES! Damn! I am boggled and impressed. I wanna know what vitamins you take.

Yeah, those leg-channels. So narrow. I took my ceramic-knife and scraped out the slits, to make a half-millimeter more room, as far in as I could reach; it was such a tight fit that it was fraying the elastic already. Need a thinner knife for the arm-channels, no kidding. And his elastics are thin, too, for such a big body. One wouldn't expect they'd fit so tightly in there. I'm still tinkering with the right balance of tightening & glue to get Stavros to obey my will at all, but it's a long road.

Ooh, yum. Those look great. Yes, Sooms are softglass (silicone). I have to try a pair to see if a Mano can wear 14mms.

You can always count on Soom eyes being 2 or 3 degrees more lively & light-filled in real life than they are in pictures.... Those clear corneas (even single-dome) do amazing things with light. I bet those white-green pupils would be pretty glowy. Here, these aren't the same color, but here's two examples of 14-mm Soom weird-pupil eyes (Nimph 'Nereides') catching the light: direct light, and glowing in a shadow. Maybe you can find someone who owns "Limegreen" to show you home-pictures.

EA Gumdrops are also self-illuminating, ahh, a mile deep of pure color. *sigh* I'm still cranky about missing that last pre-order, which opened and closed in like 20 minutes flat! XD Next time, I'll set my alarm earlier & eat my Wheaties. Stavros wants 12mm Java Frost, I think.

(Check out their "Dreamy Green", in Albino Pupil... That's a seriously neon lime-apple-green, too.)

    6. derlian85: I wish I'd know they were glued in before I bothered taking his faceplate off. XD There really wasn't any point in doing that since I had to take him apart at the bottom instead. No kind of stringing tool? Is it even possible to do it with just our bare hands? o.o

*does a bow* Well, lets see I like liquid vitamins better than tablets and I also drink plenty of lemon water and 100% concord grape juice is my favorite for the vitamin C. But really its probably because of the gofer labor work I do for floor installation. XD

Hmm, it sounds like Stavros has thinner channels than Hikaru does. To me his elastics are huge because I'm more used to the SD10 sized volks bodies. XD

Posing these guys can be a real pain, I am seriously considering suading his joints. >.> I should get me a ceramic knife because his right butt slot for sitting is just too shallow for the function. His shorts and pants aren't good for sitting in either. XC

Argh, he was even worst than usual today legs were twisting on me, gods if I know why I didn't tighten or loosen his strings at all nor twist them. o.O Mayhaps, I'm going to have to try loosening them abit.

Pictures! http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?p=3177192#post3177192 6 of them this time.

*takes a couple minutes to admire Hombre* <3

    7. chibitakeshi, they're just glued on. I didn't do anything especial to them.
I'm glad you think they look realistic, I was worried there wasn't enough
"bulk" going around to look as if a bar is running down connecting those metal-beads.
That sounds incredibly painful, and yet it didn't hurt half as bad as that sounds, except for
my bindi/vertical-nose bridge that one made my eyes all teary -- I am such a crybaby
      for a metal-addict. XD

Vanilla, last time I emailed them to see if they would sell individual
orders (instead of wholesale, which they said they are able to do), I got a very
nice lady, I can't remember her name, but she was very polite and answered
all my million and one questions. I don't mind what material the eyes are, as long
as they fit Hombre, and show no gaps (eye-gaps are kind of creepy). Thanks for
the tip on Bill @ Eyeco. ^____^

JennyNemesis, (:3, you got Vega 'Last Song"!! if I could squee like a fan-girl, that's
what I would be doing right now!!! My goodness his eyebrows are dreamy, I wish
I could paint eyebrows like those...if only he wasn't 1/2-scale giant!) Thanks for
the photos, they are lovely! What gorgeous eyes, I'll have to stalk the marketplace
for Soom GO, the limegreen nada's might be it, if those don't work I can go with EA,
those "Dreamy-Green" are amazing! Thanks for all your suggestions, I'm having so
much fun looking at all of these wonderful eyes, now all I need is to plant one of those
money-growing trees, maybe then I can get a couple of pairs of each neon-ish green pupil-less eyes,
      I come across. XD

I did the manipulation-comparisons shots of Mano, and Elf-Mano. I was very surprised to
see that the differences are truly minimal. Of course, these are not 100% accurate but were
mostly for 'fun,' to help me get a better picture of the sculpt differences. They were quickies,
so the Elf-Mano PS are not very clean, but give a good idea of what the differences of the two
sculpts might be. First one B/W image of Elf-Mano overimposed on regular Mano: click here.
Next, a 3/4 shot of both, Elf-Mano and blank Mano's face: Here's the image.
And last a side-by-side comparison of both "blank" heads. The Elf-Mano shots belong to
Limhwa (of course), the blank Mano is none other than Hombre, so those belong to me. ^____^
Again, I just did these for fun, not to provide any factual reference for anyone. I hope no one
feels threatened, discouraged, injured, or in anyway insulted by these, that wasn't my intention.

Now, to check Luminaire's gorgoues Hikaru with his sexy new chest...

      - Enzyme ^_____^

      .

    8. Enzyme I think those photomanips are pretty good! I can definitely see some of the differences I thought I saw even more clearly now. The shape of the eyes, the higher brow, the nose shape, the shape and size of the lips. Very delicate changes from Mano's. ^^ Thanks for doing them even if only for fun. *s*

hehee, you know the new chest is very molestable if I do say so. X3

    9. ^___^ You're welcome Luminaire (and look how I spelled gorgeous! One
of my favorite words, and I misspelled it!), the eyes, nose and lips have
definite subtle differences. Probably the most notable is the mouth, I
thought the eyes would be more different, but it's probably just the way
they are painted. Maybe Limhwa will post some face-up less shots of
Elf Mano, to quite our curiosity *hint*?

I'm glad you said it! The chest is so...touchable...LOL...how come I feel so
much more pervy somehow, even if you were the one that said "molestable"? XD

      - Enzyme ^______^

    10. Enzyme, thanks for pix))
What kind of green do you need for Hombre eyes? I will take a look for you.

    11. Hoyahachimachi! :aeyepop: Whoa! Enzyme, if those photos turn out to be even halfway accurate, then there is WAY differences! Regular Mano hardly has any nose-bridge up between his eyes; I can't tell if Elf has shading leftover from the faceup, or if she added more of a bridge, but that's a big difference. And she definitely fixed that major skewing of his nose, too. =D Lookit, his nose points directly AT the camera, where Regular Mano's goes off to the left (his left) a bit. I have personally gotten used to that on Stavros's face enough to find it endearing... I even bothered to work in a few bar-fights into his backstory to explain it...^^ It's just alarming to see another Mano-face without it!

But the eyes, what a surprise, they do look unchanged. Tear duct & eyelid-fold looks the same. Must be makeup.

I think that the French resin glow makes Hikaru seem even more molestable than normal. XD That stuff looks touchable like skin! He too is self-illuminating, just like a pair of Soom eyes.

Save your pennies for those Gumdrops, and they will not disappoint. Gorgeous craftsmanship, and Grace is so nice to deal with. I'd have every color, if only I had that many sixty-five-dollar-bills lying around my house...

[PS @ Enzyme: Yes, the giant blue merman. *super-sonic squee that can only be heard underwater*]

    12. Oh guys, I'm wondering how I paid my Mano with $400 bills back in Feb. Winter a bit expensive here

    13. Your welcome Vanilla! I'm lookng for a deep, rich emeral-green,
that's almost neon-ish in luminance -- sort of like a real emerald
but a bit more fake-ish. Maybe I should just get the real deal, but
I don't know if I would feel comfortable with Hombre wearing $$$ eyes. XD

JennyNemesis, I think Elf-Mano does have a bit more bridge up his eyes. XD
At least from the profile shot, there seems to be a bit more up there compared to
the makeup-less shot of regular Mano. I was lazy to PS the profile photo, the piles
of homework didn't help either, but the way the light hits it, seems like there is a
slight difference there. ^___^;; I was very surpriced about the eyes, I was almost
sure they had huge differences, but then again they could be different, this is just
my lazy PS-version of what "could be."

I never did mind the skewness of Mano's nose, it adds to his personality, I think --
makes him more human, even if Hombre is not supposed to be human. XD I love the asymmetry
of his sculpt, and unevenness of his resin -- it reminds me of 3D modeling, when you make models
look more real by twitching their features, and making them more asymmetrical. Because 3D-
character models are made by modeling half of the character, mirroring that half, then
attaching both sides -- which means 100% symmetry, something that is absolutely not possible in
any real-life living being, no matter how perfect "we" think we are. :3

Hurray for self-illuminating male-dolls, and well crafted-eyes, even if they are wallet killers! ^.^'
If I do get a pair (or two) of Gumdrop eyes, I'll blame it all on Ms. Nemesis here, for her
alluring talk about self-illuminated, ultra-glowing gorgeous eyes, that happen to fit Mano. ^o^

(Congratulations on the blue merman -- although you probably don't need it, with that massive
structure of sea-glory, turned to pure manly-beauty in your house!)

      - Enzyme ^_____^

    14. I still think the Elf's eyes are more open in the inner corner and peak more in the middle. Mano's eyes are a more intense shape. :D

*giggles* Depends on whether or not you consider touching, caressing the lovely sculpt as sexual or not. XD I just think of it as affectionate, who here doesn't like the feel of pretty smooth resin? Come on if we don't touch it then whats the point? XD

Here *hands Hikaru to ya* go ahead, trail your fingers over those rippling pectorals, you know you wanna. kekeke! >: D

Hikaru: Hey! *blushing* Give me a break, I'm not a plaything! *pouty grumbles*

It does seem to glow all on its own, I wish my skin was that pretty! Although I am very pale...

*perks ears curious* Merman? Where? I wanna see. ^^

      btw can you tell me what shoes fit Mano? A link to them would be very helpful. ^^;

    15. My Mano shares shoes with my SD16, pretty much. Volks's SD16 shoes are a great fit. Also some SD13 shoes that run oversized... like the shoes that come with the LE fullsets. His feet are pretty close to SD16's in length, but much narrower. Volksusa.com, or wherever Volks shoes appear. VolksUSA always seems to have the big-boy shoes Sold Out, though; so you have to keep checking back. http://volksusa.com/shoes-shoes-boutique.html = Anything marked "SD16B" in the product code.

(My boys all wear a lot of boots, so low-cut ankle-showing shoes are rarely an issue for them. But still, if you CAN find a pair of Volks's beautiful $75 real-leather SD16 dress shoes, anywhere, snap them up! They're gorgeously made, & they do live up to their painful prices.)

Stavros also fits generic shoes that were marked "Hound size"... From places like Dollmore or Poshdolls, or eBay sellers such as Releaserain or Mimiwoo or Natalie's Toyhouse. I don't have a Dollshe, so I can't say if they truly share sizes, but they're probably close. Anybody with Hounds at home, have more suggestions for shopping?

If you don't mind your Mano's feet looking a bit bigger than they are: Soom's giant Mecha Angel size boots (ankle-high or over). Stavros can wear their knee-high combat boots OK. The tall boots hide the fact that the bottoms are bigger than his feet. His long shins are a decent fit for knee-highs. And, as a bonus, the big wide soles make him stand up better. ^^

[PS: Luminaire, big off-topic Soom merman arrival-thread here. <3 Holy hamachi!]

    16. *takes notes* Thank-you! ^^ Yay for big wide soles providing stability. XD

*makes big eyes at possible Hound owners with more suggestions* Pretty please? =^.^=

(*raced over to merman thread* *squeee!*)

    17. *gets done saving the latest pics* ....I'm seriously considering blushing that hunka bod so that it isn't so blindingly pale. *_* While I do like the occassional etheral glowing, having it happen in almost every photo isn't that great. XD

Does anyone know if the body comes sealed/msced? I think so, but I'm not absolutely certain...

    18. Luminaire: Hmm ~ Luis, my Mano, did not come pre-sprayed/sealed (which is good, since I wanted to work on him myself). He is normal beige urethane , though, so I don't know about the french resin boys. I do know that my french resin girl Limhwa's did not come with their bodies pre-sprayed/sealed.

Enzyme: Thank you for the comparison photos ~ very helpful! I can see that there are definitely enough subtle differences to both sculpts! Yay!

JennyNemesis: Yes, SD16 boots fit Luis perfectly too ~ and that's good to know that Hound & Mecha Angel size will also work! Thank you for this info! And I agree about the gumdrops ~ I love Luis in his. Ohh, and your merman is stunning! You really have the most delicious collection of masculine eye candy!

Vanilla.Sky: Hope things are going ok for you for your pastels order ~ hang in there, I'm sure that you'll be able to complete your boy soon!

      hugs to all, :kitty2
      earth.spirits

    19. *eeps* If he really isn't, then I was lucky to get the grass stains off Hikaru's legs from the previous outing. @.@

I wish we could have the option of paying for body blushing along with faceups with the orders.

I guess I'm going to have to get some pastels too because its not working out with my paints getting the right shade of skintone and pink really shouldn't be so hard. :p Perhaps tomorrow I can convince my mom that I need to practice driving to Augusta and just happen to go to Micheal's for abit. <.<

Shameless plug of latest photoshoot (image heavy, 23 pics) Omakes included. XD
      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?t=214636

    20. I discovered the bar too in the head of the girl. I wanted to try another head so I unstring all the doll, string again, find the right hook for the others heads...
That was the very first time I unstring a doll! I have no tools too, I used a big needle and some very thin string (to lead the string of the doll)
I certainly shall do the same thing for the mano-elf.... when I shall got it
