Discussion thread for Limhwa Limho Mano

May 21, 2007

1. You mean, does Mano's head come off & can be used on a DM Model body? Uhh, that's a good question. His face is a faceplate, and it fits onto a kind of neck base, via slots & magnets. The neck base is hollowed out to fit onto the neck itself. Doesn't use an S-hook; it's got a metal bar glued into it, & the strings are hung over that. It's a pretty nonstandard setup.

I don't know, has anybody ever tried moving Mano's neck-base & head onto any other body before?

(Mano has such a huge neck, I can't imagine it'd be easy finding a substitute.)

2. I took his head out when hot-glued and re-stringed him, and never had an idea to put his head on someone's else neck)) I luv him 2 much I guess.... /give Mano more cookies

3. Sorry guess I didn’t make myself clear. I mean “work” as in fitting. It seems like he has long legs and that regular pants would be too short on him.

4. Oh! You mean "will Dollmore Model's pants fit Mano?" I think probably not... DM Model has the same narrow-hipped shape as a Hound/Dollshe boy. Mano has a big butt & hips, so he can't wear regular Hound-sized pants. Maybe if they were extremely baggy they'd fit... But I have never successfully gotten my Mano into Dollshe/similar 70cm-boy pants. Hips are way too narrow. And I wouldn't try to put SD13/60cm-boy pants on him; just too small all ways around.

Mano can wear SD16 & SD17 sized pants-- I get Stavros's pants at 4D. And sometimes Volks, whenever they have SD16/17 pants.

But Dollmore Model shirts = Those fit Mano! I have several Hound & DM Model shirts for Stavros, and they work great. Long waist, long arms, wide shoulders.

Anybody else have pants-shopping suggestions? He's hard to shop for. :sweat

:cake: Mano love! The boy deserves sweets. <3 <3

5. I would love to give some advise too, I love Mano so much, he's such
a gorgeous sculpt, trully a work of art. Unfortunately, I make all of my
Mano's clothes...XD

I can say that all of my DollHeart SD13B-sized shoes fit him, so
I guess that's good, if you're wondering about which shoes fit him. ^-^;;
Good luck with your Mano!

6. Enzyme & JennyNemesis, thank you that's helps a lot.

Vanilla sky, after you said you owned Mano I started to look through pictures of him and completely fell in love with him. I had seen him before but I had never spent much time really looking at him. I liked Narin, but never felt any sparks.
I thought I would let you know you inspired me, and now I have major Mano love.

7. (I am a squealing Hombre fangirl too! :fangirl:)

8. Enzyme, nice to hear from you!))
laura121786 Oh, it is so nice!)) I do love Mano, he is my fav. I owned Saint but I sold him cause I didn't felt for him, I own Sard and he is a real character but I love Mano the most. He is my sweet boy))
As for Narin I would like to have one, but I so hope they ll change his torso joints...
JennyNemesis he got the best cookies))

9. laura121786, Glad I was helpful. ^.^

JennyNemesis, Oh, wow! That's such a sweet thing to say! I never imagined Hombre to have
a fangirl, let alone a squealing one! XD Thank you very, very much for that. m(_ _)m

Hey Vanilla, I hope we get to see your Mano one of these days! ^ ^

Manos do need a lot of cookies, and a lot more looooove, they deserve it!
<3

- Enzyme ^-^

10. Enzyme, you forgot his most fangirl (sorry Jenny))), -me!! I love him in that lace clothes you made for him))
my Mano is not so spectacular as yours, Enzyme)) I don't like my faceup skills as well.... I like him as he is, but not sure if someone else will))

11. I agree there does need to be more pictures of Mano. I’d say the same about Narae and Narin 60cm as well. I wonder why people don’t own more dolls like these, especially Mano. His sculpt is lovely and well worth the cost. Perhaps it’s just personal preference. I like dolls that look realistic rather than anime characters. I notice most people tend to like anime style.

12. I think you hit the nail on the head there. There's definately a little pocket of us that prefer the realistic sculpts, (it's funny, a lot of us that own Mano's are also attracted to other sculpts...ie the big Soom boys), but an awful lot of people seem to prefer the more sylised/anime inspired guys.

We really do need more Mano love!

13. Well, the more pictures we post of guys like Mano, the more outsiders seem to come drooling on over to goggle at him, and next thing you know, you've made another convert. ^^ Makes me wish I had more free time to take photos. (Stupid job!)

Enzyme, I just try not to squeal too loudly, so as to keep my dignity. XD I just love Hombre's badass piercings and killer glam makeup and his whole package. I think he has a special place in my heart because I love the glam, but I didn't expect anybody to put lipstick or piercings on this manly hyper-realistic sculpt; and, whammo, there was Hombre right away! I love Hombre because his look is so many miles away from the look of my own Mano... and I love earth.spirits' Luis because he's so many miles away from THAT look... and Luminaire's boy has yet another look... and so on. All these Manos are very different men.

So Vanilla.Sky, we'd like to see your boy anyway! Because all Manos deserve cookies. <3

14. Vanilla, I didn't' forget you -- Hombre's favorite flavor, plus sky!! <3333
I want to see your boy, I'm sure your face-up skills are better than mine, and
even with my crummy face-ups Hombre still got two fans! XD So, your boy should
get a lot of followers, I'm sure! ^________^ Thank you so much for saying Hombre's
"spectacular," it truly humbles me to read such nice comments from such an incredibly
wonderful person, like you!

laura121786, I also see a lot of unrealistic sculpts as more popular than others, and wondered
where are all the realistic sculpts going? Soom seems to be on a role, releasing so many
realistic-sculpts lately (I mean realistic facial sculpts, bodies still have a long way to go),
but I rarely see any in the galleries. Maybe I look at an odd time when all the anime-ish sculpts
are posted (not that I mind, I'm a huge Japan/game/animation fan!. But, I definitely think unrealistic
is more popular, at least for now. I like both worlds, so I don't mind, but I would love to own
a Narin 60cm one day, and Mono keeps tempting me -- if only I needed more dolls. XD
Mano is definitely worth every penny, I wouldn't trade him for anything -- I hope Limhwa makes
some optional pieces for him, I want clay hands and a dreaming vampire plate!!! *one can dream?*

arrowchild, I agree, I think some of us Mano-owners, seem to have similar taste! I love Sard,
(which you, and lucky Vanilla managed to get!!! Lucky you...>_<), sadly I missed him -- but
overall I really like Soom. I think Miss Jenny agrees, with her ethereal merman eye-candy. ^-^

JennyNemesis, yes, I agree. Manos all seem to have their own different personalities, and styles.
Very unique all of them, I haven't seen two similar personalities, even among those that have kept their
default face-ups. I also agree that there should be more Mano gallery posts, we rarely get to see
them! I for one do spam Hombre a lot. ^___^;; *has no shame, even with the lack of skills*

I know Hombre is different, and that might scare some people who might want to get a Mano.
He's probably not making many new Mano fans, even when he's spammed to death! There is always
the choice of not looking at him, however, or going to the database -- there are a few 'normal' Manos there
that might indeed convert people. XD

- Enzyme ^_______________^

15. I’d like to have a few more dolls too. I’m surprised that I have as many as I do on my want list. I never thought I would end up wanting a doll family. I thought I was just going to get one or two.
I’d like it if there were more realistic sculpts around here. I like anime, but not a huge fan. DOT Shall is on my want list and I consider her to be anime style.
The thing about realistic sculpts is that is so great is that when I look at pictures of them they seem so real that I almost expect them to start breathing.
I really enjoy the fact that that people have the same sculpt, but there dolls are so different. I haven’t seen a Mano here with the same style. In general I love that when you own a doll you can see the character that you have created really come to life through the doll. I get to know my character more when I use a doll as a model.
I just got an idea. I don’t know if you can use this thread for this or not, but if you can it would be very cool to post a description of your doll. I do this for all my RP characters, and it really helps me feel more in-touch with them. If it is ok to do I will post questions that I use for my RP characters for everyone to fill out. The some of the questions are hard, but fun to fill out. They make you think about different aspect of your character.

16. No, laura, I think the mods don't allow actual RP'ing in Discussion threads... But what you CAN do when you get your doll is post him in a Database thread right away! That's where you post a picture or two, and then list as much or as little information about him as you want. Some people talk for whole paragraphs about their characters; others just list the doll's name, sculpt, & faceup artist. In fact, you can see Hombre and Sky and Luis and Stavros and the other lads up in here already.

Enzyme, yeah, I sure do like my Sooms too...! But my first Soom-love was my beloved Namu, who's very unreal-looking with that big nose & big eyes & big lips. And now I've got a Vega who looks much more realistic, but still manages to look like Namu's cousin (big sister?). :whee: I like both the stylized & the realistic male sculpts! Stavros's "mate" here in the house is a tan Soo Ri (Iplehouse), which is both real and cartoony at the same time. I'm with you, someday I would love to have a whole army of 60cm Narins with all the different faceplates. Mano and Narin have similarly real looks; and it's funny, but that new Soom Sard looks quite a lot like Narin from some angles, too. Cosmic coincidence? -_-

Right now, though, I wish someone would drop a little tan Mono on me out of Heaven (and follow it with another room for my apartment). ^^ And now that I'm so hooked on this Mano, and hooked on Limhwa's tan, I'm already wondering if she'll ever do another large male sculpt again, and how amazing he will be.... I'll save a future spot on my very last shelf for him, whoever he'll be...

17. i don't know why i didn't think of that before. quess i got excited.

I just looked at database, and wow. That was some major eye candy. Homber is bizarrely intriguing. I can see how people could be repelled by him. He is shocking.
i love that Stavros is a playboy. he looks the part.

I know this might sound like an odd question, but do any of you talk to your dolls?

18. JennyNemesis, yes, I knew those lips reminded me of someone...Namu!!!
Soom makes incredible lips!
(OT: Oooh, you have an Angelic Scars Amos too!!! You are a lucky woman!
I just had to peak at what other dolls you have...XD)

I am also tempted by Mono, but I'm not a huge fan of tan, I would get mine
in white urethane. That is, if I was to get more mini-sized dolls, which I won't
because they are a pain to make clothes for, and I already have Hombre's little
brother, so I can't get a Mono now. Or can I? >_<;; *I won't*

laura121786, and that's without all the body piercings and tattoos! LoL!
I know my boy is pretty shocking, he's not meant to be, but then again I don't
live in a "me" world and this is a public forum. XD Reminds me, I have to update
his database photo, those are 12-face-ups old...>_<;;

- Enzyme ^.^

19. Oooohh... You know what, I would LOVE it if Hombre also had a widdle bad-ass Mini-Me Mono brother? Can you imagine a little pair of blue eyebrows, and little mini tattoos, and that little matching face full of tiny metal studs? Awww! *heeeee* That would be SO cute. I think the Cute might kill us. :whee:

(PS: Thanks! ^^ Miro, my spooky white Amos, is one of my early beloveds from almost 3 years ago. The manliest-faced doll at that time was a Hound or Bermann, and pretty much everyone else still looked like anime.... Mano was still a year or so away! XD)

Laura, I do sometimes talk to them, but I talk to everything in the house, so this is nothing too unusual. It's when they talk BACK that I'll know I have a problem. :)

20. JennyNemesis, I won't be getting another little brother for Hombre, (he already has one, but
no piercings, or tattoos, he's still all 'natural'). I never thought I would get a Mano,
I got my mini way back before Limhwa decided to release this gorgeous man (or Mono, I think) -- otherwise,
I would have planned the family better (although I don't regret having the mini that I have,
as his brother. Cute is not really my style anyway). ^___^';;;

(I love Angelic Scar Amos' face-up, he was such a great LE, one that I'll regret not getting)
