1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discussion thread for Limhwa Limho Mano

May 21, 2007

    1. Enzyme, do you use some special light for pictures? Or just, lamp light may be?
I'm curious about my Mano's poseability problems, I cannot figure out what's the reason... he is always try to bend, and those legs... As I don't have this kind of problem with other dolls, well, with Saint yes, but they famous for this, I try to understand what am I doing wrong.... Or I just bad with poses?
Enzyme, I don't know about name. We tried 3 different, but nothing work out( I have a stranger at home...
      Saint needs faceup))

    2. Vanilla, I use regular desk-lamps -- sometimes just one, sometimes two.
If I'm photographing Hombre, I only use one -- his face is so angular,
multiple light-sources create a lot of unwanted shadows on his face (IMHO).
But, my photographic skills are lacking, you shouldn't ask me for lighting advice. :X

I would recommend re-stringing your Mano, Hombre poses incredibly well,
I'm truly in-love with his body, so much so, that I am considering getting
a second Mano, just for his body (for my Paris XD). I'm not sure what else
could be wrong with yours, Hombre is such a great poser (no pun intended!).

I haven't yet experienced the dilemma, of not knowing what name my dolls want/need --
I find it very interesting when people can't figure out their doll's name. I think it
makes their characters that much more complex (good luck!). ^.^ Hombre's real
name is so complicated (I find it hard to remember with three-first names, alone!),
that I'm kind of happy he decided to ditch it, on account of it being cursed. XD

      - Enzyme ^___________^

    3. Enzyme, I hot-glued him... so yes, it's seems I have to re-string Mano... I always afraid to do this as still can't find right away if I string him too tight or too lose. If I try to stand him up, he can stand for 10-15 seconds, and then begin to bend((
When I bought hum I thought he gonna be sweet nice guy, he is, but sometimes only) So, name was wrong...
Thank you about light advices) I ll try to take pictures tonight, and have to go for another hosting as well

    4. For me tight works best -- all my dolls are very tightly strung by me.
I think it might also depend on how tight, is too-tight for you, Vanilla?
When I first got Hombre, he butt-kicked me right on the nose (it was painful
to say the least), the first time a man/doll has hit me on the face! XD
I think he was way too tight then, so tight that his legs would bend inwards,
and at the knees (in-to a fetus position). But now he's tight-enough -- enough
to crunch your fingers if you place them in any of his joints, but not too much
that he's forced into the fetus-position anymore. =^_______^=

I haven't done anything else on him (like 'sueding,' hotglueing, etc.), and he
poses just fine, and stands firmly as well (even w/o shoes, and on carpet!),
so it's all in the stringing. ^-^

      - Enzyme ^___________^

    5. Enzyme, haha)) mine pinched me straight away) So, that's in their blood, I mean resin)
Wow, on the carpet? No... we can lay on the carpet perfectly tho...
I ll re-string him as fast as I ll find someone to help me, and I'll say if it works

    6. Good luck Vanilla! ^0^

Janbintx, I think Mano will look great next to Lydia! ^.^

After much wrestling with the neck-piece, and the superglued-bar,
I was finally able to remove it! I would suggest if anyone tries it,
to first unstring the body -- I learned the hard way (because I'm lazy),
I didn't unstring him first, and ended up having to do twice the work!
A new-X-acto knife blade should do the trick, with easy/slow cuts,
like if you were slicing 'bread,' they should do the trick! ^__________^

Here's my MNM head, on my Mano body after the bar removal! (more pics here)

    7. Hello fellow Mano fans. I do so enjoy this thread. Don’t have one yet but he is on my list. He make me drool, he’s gorgeous.

    8. Those of you ladies who have bought clothes for your
Manos, maybe can help out a soon-to-be, fellow Mano-owner,
who wants to learn about which clothes fit/work for him.
The question can be read, and replied to here.

    9. Thanks Enzyme! Very helpful. He is a tricky boy to shop for. Mano and Luna are my two sought after limhwa dolls. I hope to spam him like crazy, well not that crazy, when I get him because I want more people to fall in love with him. I tend to like more realistic sculpts. I wish there was more on DOA.
In my opinion Mano has the best bum on any male doll I’ve ever seen, and overall body sculpt.

    10. Yes, he is kind of tricky to shop for, and I don't
even buy clothes! I've had issues with finding the
right eyes, but maybe that's just because I'm such
      a weirdo. XD

I hope you do spam your Mano when you get yours ghost reflection,
there are rarely any Manos in the galleries, and Hombre (my Mano) is
not necessarily the one to make people change their minds bout the sculpt,
but he does get spammed a lot! I love the body, it is absolutely beautiful.

    11. How many Manos out there has the default faceup and how many has a commissioned/selfmade?

What made you decide for either?

    12. ^ You can probably tell, I chose to go with
      self-face-up Mano, because Limhwa
(as far as I know) doesn't take custom face-work,
and I needed him to fit in, with my weirdo family. XD

Also, I wanted to add all of his piercings without
worrying about ruining someone else's work on him.
I don't care if I ruin my work, because I can redo it as
much as I want (mainly why I chose to do it myself,
as well, even if I suck at painting on such small canvas!).

    13. My tan Mano, Cruz, has the default face up. I adopted him from his previous owner that way and liked his face up so much that I didn't feel the need to send him out for another.............I took some new pics of him yesterday and put them in the gallery. Here is a teaser pic though........... More pics over in the gallery:

    14. My Tan Mano is home-painted... As soon as I saw this sculpt, I knew exactly how I wanted him to look. (Greek Heartthrob[tm]! :aheartbea) But the coloring + style of the default faceup was miles away from what I wanted. Therefore, I had no choice but to learn to paint tan resin.

Luckily, I found him very easy to paint. Perhaps because the Tan resin is nice and creamy and evenly-toned; or perhaps because my vision for him was so clear. Stavros knew how he wanted to look.

    15. mine is home-painted.
*off* Enzyme, u gonna have leo's mnm?)) wow))

    16. Hi everyone!
I am soon to be a Limhwa Mano owner. I love everyone's boys! They are all such wonderful! I have found a lot of good info here too on clothes/eyes/wigs. Ty for that! I am really excited about this boy. He is so different from my current dollies (I think that is why I wanted him so badly). I already have a background story for him, but he still needs a name! I am sure I will figure it out. Anyway, I just wanted to stop by and say hi and gush over awesome boys with you guys. ^_^

    17. Vanilla, how is your Mano doing? How do you
like the price drop? Makes me wonder if I should
have ordered a white urethane Mano, to replace
my beige one, and left his body for my Paris....XD
Too late now, huh? I love Hombre anyway, even if
he's not the pale vampire he's supposed to be. XD
(yes, lucky me, I'm getting a Leon MNM! Thereare still slots open for the half/closed eyed version,
      if you are interested)

Nabee, congratulations! I hope that means we'll get
more Mano love now that we have more future Mano
      owners. ^_________^

    18. Looks like my post with Hombre's new gallery thread
got deleted, and ghost reflection's reply to it also got
deleted....wonder why (maybe posting gallery post of
Mano, in the Mano thread is OT now as well, huh?)?

NabeeRain, I have nothing to add, sadly, I make all my clothes. XD
      Good luck with your search!

    19. We're working on moving more Gallery type doll posts to the BJDopedia. Nothing has been deleted. Feel free to share pictures of your Manos in the BJDopedia thread or in the Gallery, Discussion threads should stay focused on words and not images. There are plenty of places on DoA to share pictures.

I have left some illustrative pictures in this thread like the ones meant to specifically show clothing, eye and wig fit and the ones showing the neck mechanism. General photo sharing can be linked to from here.
