1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discussion thread for Limhwa Limho Mano

May 21, 2007

    1. ^ Okay, thanks for explaining! I was liking to a gallery thread,
so that's not allowed anymore. Sorry, I'm a bit confused (numbskull,
that I am...), about that last part. ^_________^

    2. I have a default face up because I liked the face ups on others I had seen from the artist. Mine is just lovely. He is just what I wanted.

    3. Regarding default face up vs. other face up ~ While I think the default Mano face up is lovely, I painted my Mano, Luis, myself, as I wanted a distinct character-specific look. Since Luis' first face up was showing wear, I recently re-painted him and slightly revised his look ~ I went for a very realistic approach too, as I like my dolls to look very "real" in photographs. I have several gallery threads on my guy, and the latest one (done at New Year's) shows Luis with his new look. I love the Mano sculpt for his realism and masculine beauty. :aheartbea

Luis poses pretty well too, and I haven't really done anything to his stringing, etc. I find his body sculpt as beautiful as his face, and his normal beige urethane resin is very high quality, and is lovely to paint and work on!

      best wishes, :truffle

    4. My boy will have his default face up too. But, I will have my friend repaint him if need be. I chose him for the same reason as earth.spirits, for his realism and masculine beauty. My boy's character is very specific as well and I needed a strapping young lad in order to pull off the look. I love how his face is masculine, yet there is a gentleness to it. It is just what I had in mind and I totally lucked out in finding this mold.

I was a little surprised when I saw some post missing, but I am glad that some of the pictures stayed. There is very useful info in this thread and I like having it all in one thread. I have done tons of searches on Mano since I decided on getting one, but I must have missed the BJDopedia thread. I can't beleive I would miss that! I must go find it now...

    5. Hello, I am saving up for a Limhwa Mano, hoping that I can order him when the next ordering period opens . . .

These dolls are so gorgeous and I am so happy to see owner pics of their dolls, the pictures on Limhwa's website are beautiful, but never would have led me to believe I could make him into Zephyr. The owner pics have shown me how versatile he is. And I am so glad to find all this information on what does and doesn't fit on him, s well as in the other thread dedicated to his clothes.

And Enzyme, Hombre is the Mano who ultimately convinced me that this was the doll that would work for Zephyr. And as for Hombre, another fan here . . . he is gorgeous. Seeing the spectacular job you've done with him gives me hope I can have some success when I get mine . . .

    6. I'm so glad to see the discussion going in this
thread! Congratulations to all those (soon to be)
      new Mano owners!

Teysa, good luck with your Mano! He is such
an amazing sculpt, I love mine to death! XD
Thank you so much for your comments --- I'm
not a very talented miniaturist (who new 20+ years
of creating art, and painting classes wouldn't count
when painting on 3D-miniature-surfaces!), but I do love
Hombre very much (even with his crappy face-up). ^________^

    7. As a follow-up to my faceup question - are the faceups different for the tanned version?
Those eyebrows look a lot thicker.
Or have the faceups changed over time?
The pictures on the Limhwa website are quite old, so any changes over time would not be seen there.

I'm asking because I think the eyebrows on the Limhwa website are a bit too thin for my taste, but the ones I've seen on the tanned boys in this thread look more defined and masculine.

    8. Enzyme: I think you are too hard on yourself, I love what you've done with him :) I can, however understand the frustration when it comes to switching media tho, things don't work the way you imagine them to when you change the surface you are working on, so you tend to see flaws that no one else does . . .

    9. Thank you, Teysa! It is hard changing mediums,
but mostly having a very bad pulse is what gets
me --- I can't paint hairs of any size with my bad-pulse!
At least I don't have to worry about painting eyelashes
on Hombre, but his eyebrows I'm still madly disappointed
with --- I guess with time, I'll get those right (I hope). ^________^

Can't wait to see what you do with your Mano, I'm sure
      he'll be amazing!

    10. Regarding Mano.....Does anyone know how to get the bar (inside his head) out? It's glued in, I don't know what type of glue.
      Thanks!

edit: nevermind, a little application of a scalpel and some strategically placed acetone did the trick ;)

    11. My boy arrived! I am pretty sure this is his default face up so I wantd to post a pic of it here. As for wig, he is wearing a Luts delf wig. He is also wearing a dollmore model doll shirt. ^_^

EDIT: I was wrong, he is non-defualt faceup. Sorry about that! Not sure if I should leave the pic up or not?

    12. Wow, Nabee, he's a dream! That doesn't look much like the default faceups I've seen-- wow, is it really default? She used to make Mano's eyebrows very low-hanging, & his lips quite pink. If she's doing him up like this now, gaa, I'd've bought Stavros a twin! :aheartbea That faceup is just beauuuuutiful: pale lips and fair eyebrows (and a happy expression). He looks like a born blonde, very refined coloring. Love it.

    13. Thank you!!! I bought him from the marketplace and I am pretty sure she said it was his default, but maybe I was mistaken? The thread is down already...I will double check to make sure. ^_^ I love him as a blonde too! I had him try on Volks Elain's default wig and he looked super hot. Hopefully I can do a proper photoshoot soon and post lots of pics in the gallery ;)

    14. NabeeRain : wow he is dreamy :)

    15. Thanks! I am just not sure if I can keep him at this point...I was really really happy to get him and he is really great, but I may have to get a different doll for the character I have in mind. Regardless, I do not regret him as he is sooo handsome!! *sigh*

BTW: I did talk to the person I bought him from and he is a nondefault face up. I am going to go ahead and edit the post above. Sorry about that!

    16. Ne'mind the edits, just let us know who did that lovely faceup! :fangirl: Or did the original owner not know either?

    17. The owner I got him from is not sure who did the face up, she said it could be any of the previous owners or default, but she was leaning towards a previous owner and so am I after seeing many default ones. She just doesn't know who did it though. I guess he is a mystery man!

    18. I adopted a mano from the marketplace and he arrived here today :) I am so happy, he is so beautiful. Zephyr is finally home!!!! Now he needs clothes . . .

    19. Congratulations teysa, I look forward to seeing your Mano!

    20. Enzyme, thank you :) I have a lot of work to do before I'l take pics, this is my first time tackling any of this stuff. I did his body blushing today . . . i think I maybe went a lil overboard, (then again maybe I didn't, I have no idea what I'm doing), but I love it anyway because after examining him so close, I've seen all the little details. It truly is a beautiful sculpt. The hands are especially beautiful, down to the veins and the tiny fingernails.
