1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discussion thread for Limhwa Limho Mano

May 21, 2007

    1. Arrowchild, ah! See I don’t remember things that happened
      that long ago! XD

I just finished a new top for Hombre, if I’m not too
tired when I get home today I’ll do a small shoot with
him later today. I miss taking photos of my grumpy guy
(haven’t spammed him in a long time). XD

    2. Posted a few shots of Hombre with his
new face-up (it's the "same" face as always,
I just want the eyebrows to turn out a bit better,
but I fail, miserably!) and nose, here. ^____^
Just sharing in case anyone wants to see
what he looks like now, with the "new" nose
(I also sanded his lower-lip just a tiny bit, to
make it easier to pain a parting line, but I think
      I need to sand a bi more....XD).

    3. My boy is home, and looking pretty lovely. It was a bit of shocker for me, seeing him so toned down, but he was based of an au natural male reference. He's growing on me now that I've had time to adjust.

Link over to PhotoBucket: 1 and 2

    4. It's a gorgeous face-up and suits him wonderfully.

    5. This is the best face-up on Mano I've seen yet! Wow!

    6. Hello !
I want to buy Limhwa half elf. What is the default wig and eyes ?

      thank
(sorry for my bad english :s)

    7. I Love my Mano!!! But I wonder why he was given knock-knees???

    8. ^______^;;; ^ That made me laugh!
I've had my Mano for a few years now,
and I've never noticed that... I wonder...?

    9. That was the first thing I noticed. "Damn, his legs will NOT stop turning inside!"

It's just his engineering is a little dodgy. Trying to get him to stand up, especially barefoot, is like wrestling a whole school of fish.... bits of him keep trying to escape. I had some success by putting glue in his hip-sockets, but since the sockets aren't a really tight fit, his thighs still always want to rotate inward.

    10. I’ve never had that problem with my Mano –but I did restring him myself
right away. He actually stands like a rock without shoes, I wonder if it’s
      just the stringing?

      - Enzyme ^.^

    11. I've already restrung him twice & tightened him 3 times. No luck! ;; Is there a different stringing-system/setup that holds him together better? I'm just imitating the stringing configuration he had when he arrived. Do his legs stop rotating inwards if you string him a different way?

    12. I have no idea! ^______^;;;

When I first got him, I wanted to give him a complete coat of MSC,
so I unstrung him right away, didn’t pay much attention to the way
he was strung! I think the way he was originally strung, is the same
way I’ve re-strung him since then, but maybe I’m doing things differently?
I wouldn’t’ be able to say for sure, but I never have any problems with his
legs twitching inwards, or having any sort of problem with his knees at all –
like I mentioned earlier, he stands quite firmly barefoot. He’s probably my
best poser out of all my dolls –though I’m never very creative when it comes
to posing him, his stability and posing-range are quite impressive. ^ ^

    13. If you look at all his joints, some of his pieces-and-parts really just don't fit that well together. Ribs to hips, hips to legs, etc. So they'll flop around like mad. But, that's not what causes the legs to rotate... I think that's caused by the angle of the slots at the tops of the thighs, which are slanted, so the strings naturally pull them inwards.

Maybe he just needs to be tightened tighter than I ever thought he could possibly be tightened! That works with heavy-limbed dolls like Volks, really tames them. But it's not usually so good with lightweight limbs (just results in kickiness), unless you also do sueding.

And perhaps sueding with actual pliver would work, too; maybe glue isn't enough for Stavros. With the size of those gaps, I can't squirt enough glue in there to fill 'em. ^^ Haven't tried actual suede yet.

He sure stands solidly once you DO get him balanced, though-- great knee locks!

    14. Oh… aesthetically, I think the body mostly looks like it belongs/fits together,
at least he doesn’t look any weirder than most other bjd with multiple
(more than the two-part) jointed torsos. As far as engineering, I think maybe
he could have a few extra joints here and there, and still have the same visual “beauty/look,”
without the joints being too distracting –aesthetics are very important to me, I never wanted
      a 3-piece torso for example, but now that I have Mano, I can’t believe I didn’t like
them before! But my experience with bodies is very limited, so maybe I’m biased.

I don’t have any issues at all with his posing though. I think I did exaggerate on how
tight I strung mine, because my Paris was very tight when he first arrived to me,
      so that’s what I try to repeat every time I re-string my dolls. ^ ^;; I haven’t “sueded”
or wired any of my dolls, but still find that Mano is my best poser –never even widened
the “slots” the string passes through. Maybe I’m just lucky. XD

    15. Maybe! Maybe Hombre is just more agreeable than Stavros. ^^

    16. Could be! Or maybe it's just that he knows just
how much I suck with the camera, so he gives me
a break by not making it hard on me to pose him. XD

    17. I have to admit, I expected Mano to be a better poser than he is, but I don't get all that much trouble from him except when it comes to sitting. I did have his hips hot glued once, but it wore off real fast. For straight up standing he's the next easiest of all my boys(my LJK is better at everything), but forget any kind of fancy stances.

Also I think I understand what Jenny means. Some parts just do not have as snug a fit together as they should. But her Hombre sounds like he has quite a few mis-matched parts(perhaps because he is a tan? They may have more trouble getting good casts with tan resin). With my Hikaru is one theigh is slightly longer than the other and has a slightly shallower notch, hense the additional trouble with sitting upright.

*looks at old pictures of hikaru standing/sitting with bare legs* I do not see any knock-knees here. XD

    18. I don’t have any doll-sized chairs, so I don’t truly ever sit Hombre very often
(whom actually belongs to me, JennyNemesis Stavros is the tanned one! ^.^;;.),
so I’m not truly sure if he has any problems sitting. I do recall having him in
a sitting pose once, but I can’t remember if he gave me any trouble at all. XD

Maybe it’s all in the stringing after all. Maybe Limwha will make new limbs (so
he can sit meditation style) for our boys one day, she makes all sorts of optional
parts for the girls, but nothing for the big guys – kind of unfair. T____T
I would settle with a few pairs of optional hands, the ones Mano comes with are gorgeous,
but I would love some in a more neutral position. XD

    19. *facepalms-headdesks-hides under rock* I knew that, I got the names switched around while I was thinking/typing. How embarrassing. ^^;;;

Its been mentioned before that the slots/holes for the strings are too narrow, so undoubtedly the stringing effects things...but other than that I always thought it was a matter of getting the tension just so that its a medium between flopsy-lopsy and resin cracking extremes in order to get the most out of the movements/posing.

    20. Mano is a little difficult to get sitting firt, but you do know that he has a special sitting feature right?
Once I got the hang of that, my Mano sits tight forever.
