1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Discussion thread for Limhwa Limho Mano

May 21, 2007

    1. Yes, at least five. ;) And regarding shirts for Mano, I've found that SD17 size shirts fit him pretty well, as do Hound size, although in that case, the sleeves are a little too long on him, but work ok.

    2. Yeah, most standard stuff does fit him OK, but I get where she's going - one of those nice fitted tight shirts that clings to him all the way down - and SD16/Dollshe shirts never seem quite long enough in the torso for that. Like so many of us, he is too odd a shape to be able to wear off-the-rack! ^^ Sorry, dude, you gotta go custom....

So it makes me happy that Stavros has chosen a sort of hippie-slob-chic style, because stuff doesn't have to fit him properly to look good. XD

    3. I know what you mean, JennyNemesis ~ It would be nice to have more variety for our guys.

Luis tends to the very casual as well, he may be a university professor, but he's certainly not a suit kind of guy. I have a Hound size black leather jacket, though, that fits him perfectly, the sleeves are even about right on him, that was a great find. :aheartbea

    4. Ghost reflection, funny that there used to be at least two Manos in the market place,
at any given time before - now that we want them, there nowhere to be found! I wish I could
have gotten at least two more, even just a single white Mano would have made me happy!
      Alas, I'm always broke when I need $$$$. T___T;;;

      Arrowchild, agreed! ^ ~

JennyNemessis, Earth.Spirits, ah yes, I forgot about the illusive fifth Mano...
I don't buy doll clothes, I buy things that I know I can never make myself, like shoes.
I can't make decent clothes by any means, but I 'enjoy' at least attempting to make them -
my dolls are kind of odd-balls like me, so their clothes need to be custom (either that or I'll
have to win the lottery to buy them custom-clothes every time I take new photos of them!).
Making skin-tight stuff for my Mano is not usually a problem, I work mostly with vinyl,
but the one time I want to try something new, (of course) it fails!

    5. I'm always out of cash, I've been rather taken by EID Jessica. They would have made an
interesting couple. I’ll just have to save my money and hope someone gets tired of him. Hopefully nothing else will come along that catches my interest, though I doubt it. EID Tedros has caught my eye. It’s always about timing, if I have the money and what’s out at the time. In the case of Tedros, I’m out of cash. I do tend to choose female sculpt over male. I one of these days I will finally get a boy in my collection. Sadly I don’t think it will be Mano. I know, I’m rambling a bit.

I wonder what it would take for Limhwa to come out with another male sculpt. Did Mano just not sell as much. It didn’t seem like he would be any less popular than Mono.

    6. I agree with you, it's all about timing. When I have $$$, nothing that interests me is available,
then when I don't have any $$$, that's when things all of a sudden become available, or discontinued
(the latter being more of a common coincidence for me U_u;;;.)!

I believe Mano is/was the most unpopular Limhwa doll so far (not that the others are much more desirable).
Mono has at least 25-ish dolls in its DoA database, while Mano only has something around 18-ish (not a huge difference, yet still).
I guess Mano was just an unlucky (unpopular) sculpt, probably because of that didn't sell that well,
so it was the easy choice if the artist was feeling overwhelmed by all the dolls she has to produce all by herself
(not to mention she also paints all of the ones with face ups!).

    7. Well, we must know at least 10 Manos, then-- FaithyHopey's Mano Army is up to, what, 4? Four tans, no less? All in her house! :aheartbea

Mano was a really unusual-looking guy, the company's very small, and his large size also put people off a bit. So, while he has lots of admirers who're really intensely rabid about admiring him, it's still a relatively small following - he is still sort of a "cult classic". ^^ I don't think he was ever a huge seller.

But then, I don't think she has any "huge sellers" anyway... being a 1-person studio, she can only produce so many! Even so, I still think her girls far outstrip the boys in popularity. Which must be why she chose to jettison him, rather than the girls. She might've also had trouble with the engineering of his big troublesome body, too. Could be many reasons. ;;^^ We just have to respect 'em. It is a shame to lose such a lovely guy; so it goes.

Re his presence in the Databases-- you also have to think of those owners who keep forgetting to make database pages for their dolls. I'm sure there's a couple. ;) I also think maybe Limhwa just didn't make all that many of him, all total! I too would be curious to know how many of him there are worldwide.

    8. There may also be some Mano-owners who *gasp* aren't members on DoA... ;)

    9. I know, I was just giving it as an example, of the unpopularity of the dolls (as I previously said,
all Limhwa dolls are rather unpopular, as it seems to be the case with most "artist" dolls).

I would love to know just how many Mano were made as well, probably impossible though,
since not everyone (like VanityFairy mentioned) is on DoA, or part of an online doll/hobby community.
I wonder if the certificate has a number of the doll that comes with it? If only I could speak Korean,
I don't suppose anyone here knows what the certificate says?

    10. a friend of mine has white skin mano, i'll tell her to take a look here ;D

    11. just came across this thread and have to put my hand up for being an owner who hasn't made a database page for my sadly neglected Mano, Adam. I didn't know that Mano had been discontinued.

    12. Hehe - I think it took me months to get Stavros's entry up in that Database, and it was only through gentle reminders like Enzyme that I eventually got it together to make one!

That's what I mean about not knowing how many worldwide.... Not everyone's on DOA, or in the same hemisphere, or ever plays online, etc. But it'd still be neat to know, especially with these artist dolls.

Enzyme, I don't see an edition number on my certificate either - but he wasn't limited at the time she started to make him, so I'm guessing she probably wouldn't be numbering them, anyway.

Norma, neglected or not, Adam will always have friends here. ~^

    13. *cough* my Mano isn't in the database *shame*

    14. JennyNemesis, oh, my gentle reminders? *... sounds suspiciously unlike me...*

On the plus side I finally got help with the pattern (my best friend made it for me! Yay! XD),
so I just need to figure out how to make a top-hat, and decide whether my Mano "needs"
      new pants, or just go with the one pair he already has... who says I'm lazy? >__<;;

The Mano-database would definitely benifit from having more in there.
Personally, I wouldn't have added mine... with the ghetto-face ups & clothes
(not to mention he's uber-scary to a few people <__<;;.) but that'll never improve
anywho so he might as well be there anyway (people can just scroll past him).

    15. That reminds me...I really should update the photos of my guy. Been thinking lately about giving him a new face-up as well since my face-up skills have improved quite a bit since then, (he was one of my first). But I'm so attached to him the way he is...lol

I agree though, it would be nice to have a few more in the data base if nothing else to see what others have done with their beautiful boys.

    16. Out of pure luck someone just out of the blue say's she isn't cozying-up to her Mano...I'm going to make the poor guy my 5th Mano!!

    17. Woaa! Where can we see all these Manos together?
Or would it be too rude to be blunt and just ask
where are you finding all these homeless Manos (I only need two more)!

Arrowchild, Emile's face up is gorgeous - all your work is!

      - Enzyme ^ ^

    18. So-does anyone actually have a Mano Elf? Because I've never seen one and he's the first doll I fell in love with.

    19. Isabeau, I've only seen one, and only in the Mano database here.

I was always tempted to get one, but never actually had the $$$,
if I had, then I probably would have gone with a white (regular) Mano instead,
as that is truly what I needed to house my current Mano, but alas neither will
      ever come home to me.

    20. I think Surreality might have an Elf...?

Wow, Faithy, where DO you keep finding 'em? That is so killer! Or maybe it's that they keep finding YOU. Well, either way, it is great that somebody is operating a Home for Wayward Manos. They should all get loving homes. ^^

Enzyme, I still just cannot see Hombre as an Elf Mano - the elf's face sculpt is so different, and so much less-threatening, it would just never look like Hombre to me! I love his malevolent squint as is. But of course, YOU would know better than I what he 'should' look like anyway. hehe :XD:
