    1. I was just heading here as soon as I got home from work to gush about this!!! I NEED MORE PICTURES!! I really want the Male, however I feel like I could justify a lady doll more easily since I wouldn't have to make (more) really tedious menswear then. . .

    2. Yesssss!
I am SO EXCITED to see all these amazing robotic dolls. It's everything I ever dreamed of.
      :: cries happy tears ::
      <3 :crushed <3

I am going to end up with an army of DLace dolls....and a very empty wallet.... :chomp: :chomp: :chomp:
      I die happy.

    3. So this might come as a weird question but...do eyes...fit in the Machinas? Looking at how the inside of the heads worked I assumed it would be that you just have to work with flat backs but also, Yuyu doesn't have measurements for eyes anywhere!

I'm maybe something flatter would work? Like Blythe eyechips if nothing else? *_*

    4. @Wolfgang
So far I have not managed to find any eyes that I own that will fit into Ex Machina female with the mechanical plate inserted inside her head. Even flat back eyes are too thick. I have been contemplating making her eyes (eye chips also crossed my mind! But I think they might be overly big?), but haven't tried it yet. Hehe.

I do have eyes in my No. 5 head. They are actually installed in her inner skull plate, but are visible in her human, uhh, top face plate. This is weirdly confusing to try and talk about, hehe. So many faces!

    5. @Lady Ravenswood
I figured that might be the case! I'll have to see if I can't commission something we can all use for the Machinas from someone! Something very flat, but not nearly as big as a Blythe eye chip. I'll keep you all updated! :3nodding:

    6. Now that you've got me thinking in it again, I looked up eye chips and Blythe size is 14mm so that might be about right. I have to measure to be certain. I think blank chips might be the thing so you could paint the eye in the pupil. Hmmm, gotta go measure.

Edit: Ex Machina female does have 14mm wide eyes (maybe 13 to be more exact) so eye chips might work out. Guessing the eye chip pupil would be around 7mm.

I am also tempted to just sculpt an exact eye base shape out of sculpy and paint that. Not sure. The mechanical stuff is very delicate so just dont want to press it at all. Heh.

    7. If you make a nice flat blank with milliput and then paint and carefully seal the top with a clear gel uv nail polish you can probably have a decent eye made. It may take some trial and error, but it'll have a less odd follow me look than if you painted a clear chip....
Also the latest photos of 2.0 look amaaazing.

    8. A follow me eye might be extra amazing for a Machina though! :D

    9. Looks like Machina 2.0 will have a first run of 20 sets (either 20 dolls or 20 fullsets, unsure) on Dec 1st! Anyone who ordered Machina 1.0, Male, or Raphael will get 10% off! I wonder when the next run will be :pout: I thought she would take a bit longer...I'm still paying off the male (and another doll oops), but I want herrrrr :...(

    10. I saw that she was limited to 20! Click wars are so stressful, I wonder how bad it will be. She is amazing. :eusa_pray
I wonder when a second order would happen then.......

    11. So the Machina 2.0 is mature lady compared to the first version. There's a whole machina nuclear family now (Mother, Father Daughter )

    12. Omg, the newest pictures. Ex Machina 2.0 fits with Ex Machina Male's torso like a puzzle. I love DLace so much. :love

Edit: I wonder if they are going to release all these amazing new torso pieces for Ex Machina Male?

    13. I can guess the busts will come out eventually, they're just not quite as high priority as getting the machinas finished! Dlace made (makes) tons of parts for the Machinas so we all know those bust stands can't be too far off. (I do wonder if they'll be discounted like everything else for the machinas since we got them?)

    14. He is here! :love

      He is amazing :chocoheart

Just as a heads up, if you have him on order, when you unpack him just be careful opening his panels because a lot of them are on fold out hinges, so be extra gentle. :thumbup
Eeeeee, I'm so excited. He's such a marvelous doll!!!! He has so many joints and parts and panels, it's really a joy to figure out how he works. :D
He was packed so super, super well. He had an outer box, and inner box, and many layers of foam sheeting (just a portion of them featured as the "nest" in this photo, hehe) and air tube sheeting.
But yes, he's amazing and eeeeeeeeeee! I love him so much!!! :whee:

Edit: I forgot to mention, since we were just on the subject of eyes...he comes with resin eye blanks! Like white resin balls that fit him perfectly, so you can paint any design you'd want on them. So thoughtful!

    15. He's Gorgeous!! He looks even better than I could have imagined...I can't wait to see what you do with hentwo of them! :D:D:D
Now I'm just excited for mine!!!
Do you know if the mechanics can be seperated from the resin at all? Don't do any deeper digging that you fear can damage him, but I need to dye mine so I'm curious if it's all glued in or popped into place or magents or what have you. :evilplot:
I'm glad he comes with blanks! I may try to make some similar to what he comes with and make customs since I need a very specific look. Are they just fully round?

    16. It depends on the piece, but a lot of the mechanics are incorperated. I actually don't know if he is dyable because a lot of his panels are attached with delicate fold out hinges and I think they would melt with the heat of the dye bath. I have never dyed a doll though! But he has very delicate parts. He is more delicate than Ex Machina original.

The eyes are sorta shaped like M&Ms. :)

    17. @Wolfgang
I got a chance to go over Ex Machina Male more closely today and I wanted to give you more specific information for your question. He has quite a lot of parts! So hopefully I didn't forget any below.

I'm gonna call the parts "mechanical" and "organic" for human looking parts.
So some parts are what I will call "normal doll parts" and I don't see why they would cause any trouble with dyeing:
      - both sets of hands/wrist balls
      -feet/ankles
      -upper and lower legs
      -hip joints
      -upper and lower arms
      -elbow (2 parts each)
      -organic lower torso
      -leaf part
      -organic non-leaf part
      -organic headcap
      -blank eyes

I ordered my Ex Machina blank and all of his mechanical parts are painted which is amazing!
So parts that have painted components are:
      -knees
      -lower mechanical torso part
-mechanical spine parts (several parts with joints)
      -organic center torso part
      -organic upper torso part
      -mechanical non-leaf part
      -head
      -mechanical head cap
-mechanical "halo" - not sure what to call it, it's a gorgeous band that goes from temple to temple around the back of the head
-extra mechanical tube port (I think this attaches on the head but I am not quite sure yet)

These are the compartment/plates that have magnets only (no hinges):
-back - located on the upper torso part
-heart compartment - located on the front upper torso part

These are the compartments/plates that have hinges:
-non-heart compartment - located on the front upper torso part
-belly compartment - located on the center organic torso part
-head - the head has 3 separate hinges. 1 for each side of his face, and 1 for the inner metal skull. The head also has 3 magnets installed on the outside to hold the halo, magnets for the headcap, and tiny magnets for the face plates.
So all the hinged compartment/plates also have magnets. The male parts are also magnetic.
I do not know if it would be possible to remove the hinges. They are painted and come assembled and are quite delicate, consisting of 3 parts each: 2 foldable hinge arm parts and a cylinder that attaches through the plate.

The head is the probably the most delicate part. The organic face plates, and the skull plate are all thin. In the original Ex Machina, the inner mechanical plate was removable, but all of Ex Machina Male's head components are assembled and not removable (except for the blank eyes, halo, and head caps).

Ok, I think that's all of him! *_*

He is, in short, AMAZING. <3
He's like a puzzle box. He has parts that swivel, and parts that fold out, and parts that clip together, and it's wonderful to just peek inside of him. Hehe. That sounds funny, but he is just so neat! <3

    18. Thank you for that! I'd be interested in seeing a few more photos of him too—he's so elaborate!

    19. My goodness he comes with so many parts! :ablink:
I ordered mine with the mechanical ribcage, does this mean I got the "human" torso too?
I have a friend who's planning to test if there's any kinds of cold water dyes that will take on resin, worst comes to worse, I'll dye what can be dyed safely and have the rest blushed to match!!
Thank you for being so thorough!! I wasn't expecting someone to go out of their way like that. :chibi:chibi
