DM Model Doll Film Noir Lawrence -Incredibly Offensive Pictures

Oct 19, 2008

    1. Oh, that would be pretty cool! :sweat

    2. I'm not really offended by the pictures persay... the doll isn't anything spectactular to look at, but the pictures are interesting I guess? I don't really find them to be sexual or particularly grotesque.

besides it's supposed to be film noir.. things are supposed to be dark and questionable

    3. What's the mod team really able to do though? Ban the mold? Even though some may have it without all that included in the pics?

      -------
As I recall, a big part of this hobby is getting a doll which a company may portray in one way and portraying it in the way that inspires you, the owner.

Look around on other doll communities, I mean, look at condoll. There's a bunch of DOA users that also use condoll, which there's plenty of gore, sex, murder, excetra on.

    4. Well, aside from there being very few female serial killers, perhaps there are plenty of female doll people who aren't offended by these images and think they're cool? I am a woman and don't feel at all attacked by images of a bunch of female dolls potentially being abused.

I'm more offended by the drivel the Lifetime channel pushes on a daily basis that stereotypes me as a woman than I am by these pictures.

    5. ive been looking at this thread for a while, couldnt decide to post or not. but isnt this sort of silly? there just pictures if they disturb you or hurt you dont look at them? i do agree that mabye they could of put up a warning but I dont think dollmore ment for pepole to be offened. And pepole its just a doll >.<

    6. Honestly, I would think that the female serial killer would probably be more "interesting" for that very reason. Because female serial killers aren't as common.

I'm just kinda miffed because I'm thinking of all these neat concepts for serial killer women now that would make them really creepy.

    7. I'm female and I'm not offended in the least. Now, I may be offended if there was a word bubble saying "DM supports the massacre of all women everywhere" but that's not happening nor what it's portraying. It's portraying an undead man who's potentially insane.

    8. I agreee with your Lifetime channel comment, but don't you think this is also a stereotype? Why must it always be the woman that suffers explicit brutality?
Also, the fact that the girls are naked really strongly highlights the sexually threatening aspect of the photos. Why couldn't they have been clothed? Maybe ripped dirty clothes, maybe nothing more than rags, but something to take the focus away from nakedness and sexual vulnerability, and place the focus on the killer, which is where it should be.

I don't know if I feel attacked by these images, but I do feel concerned. Why are women so callous and unconcerned about female depictions that are excessively violent or brutal? Just because it's a doll and not a real woman, that makes it ok? Also, there may not be very many female serial killers, but this is fantasy right? So why not make a female version, to balance the equation?

All I'm saying is, either the victim dolls should not be naked, or they should not be exclusively female. In my opinion, these two things put together take all the focus off the killer doll and places all the focus on his victims and the message implied by the photos.

    9. But, knowing DM and what society demands of female killers, she'd probably have to be dressed in skimpy black leather to pull off "the look"

Though, they mention he's PART of a new halloween party story, so maybe they'll release a girl one to be his accomplice :D

    10. Whoa...... my goodness. Didn't even realize there was a thread about this. Though I suppose I shouldn't be suprised. It was a little......unconventional.

I was a little unnerved by it at first. Not by the portrayal of violence or the concept of the serial killer doll, just the fact that all the "dead women" dolls were naked. I don't think I would have been so bothered by it if the girls had clothing on. But after looking through the pictures, it just seemed a little silly to me. Especially since the girls were so stiffly posed in the first picture of them. It was almost comical. Creepy still, but not nearly so much as if they had been posed more realistically instead of just piled there. Now the second set..... that bothered me a little more. Because she started out naked, instead of just ending up that way. And the posing was more realistic.

The doll himself is a bit uninteresting I think, for all the hype. Yes, he is White Skin, which is cool in and of itself since Dollmore doesn't offer WS as a standard release. His outfit is cool I suppose, but nothing spectacular or completely unique. His face-up......is definitely unique. But I've always had a bit of a biased against Dollmore face-ups, so I'm not really suprised to find that I don't care for it. The eyes part of it is interesting and I kind of like it, but the lips I definitely do not like. Looks like someone forgot to finish what they started when they did his lips. And the bullethole doesn't say "serial killer" to me at all! More like "zombie". I think it would have been awesome to see photos of him rising from the grave in that getup. Subsequently terrifying other dolly citizens? Maybe... as long as they get to keep their clothing on.

    11. This is pretty much it right here. The fact is that emphasis should be on the killer. But it seems more like it is on his victims (whether intended or not).

But I don't think it is always the woman that suffers explicit brutality. I have seen enough men being gored, or female heros gutting men.

What I don't like is that a lot of the brutality women suffers tends to be sexual in nature. You would never see a half-naked, extremely attractive man being terrorized by some serial killer.

... More ideas for female serial killers.... Getting more perverse in nature......()

    12. Which is another thing I don't like. I don't like how the girls always have to be so sexual. The heroine is skimpy. The female killer is skimpy. The female victims is skimpy. WHERE ARE THE SKIMPY MALES!;)

    13. lol, also true.

    14. I don't know why they picked a male zombie killer--he's obviously undead--over a female, but male bjds are very popular, especially among female collectors. As for women being callous--I can speak only for myself here, but the pictures are so unreal, that I can't take it as seriously as other people are. It's like the fun kind of cheesy horror flick you watch with your friends and have a good time laughing about. If they had made it more realistic (a real serial killer guy instead of a zombie, actual signs of physical abuse, more natural posing, more of an emotional response from the 'victim') I would have found it by far more disturbing.

I don't see it that way. They are his victims in this horror flick set up, and they don't frankly, draw a lot of attention. Killer Zombie Guy is sort of larger than life, while the female dolls are just kind of there. The first thing I though of when I saw the pick of the victim lying awkwardly on the ground with Zombie guy standing over her, was "damn, there goes my stringing--care to lend me a hand here?"

    15. Skimpy males... that'd be James Bond in the bedroom scene... Or in Casino Royale being beaten up naked...

Allow me to add further detail to your statment, where are the HOT skimpy males???

    16. I should have made it more clear- i meant to say explicit sexual brutality. Which is what the real problem here is- not the killing itself.

    17. Have you ever played the Legacy of Kain games? Plenty of skimpily dressed male killers in that. ;)

....and only one woman, interestingly enough. :huh?:

Seriously, though- you can find examples of anything anywhere, if you look hard enough. I just think it's a bit silly for people to be screaming and shouting over the internet over the doll equivolent of a B-list student horror flick. ;)

    18. Who knows, maybe Dollmore just couldn't decide how to dresses his 'girlfriend' so just decided to leave her nude. The wig doesn't even looks like it fits her!

It's a halloween party after all, maybe she just got drunk on punch and took her clothes off. In the photo where he's touching her face, maybe he's saying 'come on, lets get you home.' then she just falls over. Haha.

    19. Well then, I guess we disagree. *shrug* As for the unemotional victim thing though- they hid her eyes with her bangs for a reason, and the reason was to mask the emotion of the victim. You're not supposed to see her as a person, your supposed to see her as an object that he can and will do whatever he wants/feels compelled to do.
