1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. Fauna is still with me and always will be. I have dolls I like better aesthetically, but there's something about her. Despite her BBB tube arms and legs and those dratted Zombie Queen hands, every once in a while I put a new outfit on her and take pictures and she emotes, better than my more expensive dolls. I don't know what it is-maybe she really has a soul.

    2. Nope, my first was an impulse buy. :/

    3. I'm actually selling/trying to sell my first two dolls (ordered at the same time). I just never really bonded with them properly. I think that in the year since I ordered them, I've learned a LOT about ABJD's, what I like, dislike, etc, and those two really don't fit with me now, and don't get the love they deserve.

    4. Well, it may be 8yrs on but I still have him.
There were times when I was super poor (Like unable to aford rent and have no family to fall back on) and considered selling him but just couldn't bring myself to do it (sold my guitar instead).

I love him dearly and always will :)

    5. I've still got my first boy. I thought about selling him and getting a normal skinned version of him, but it just didn't feel the same, so he's still here ^^ And I still love him.

    6. I do want to keep my first doll because she's very special to me. ^^ And she probably will end up being the most loved out of any other dolls I end up getting. Just something about her makes her very important to me and to give her up would be too depressing, especially since I'm waiting for quite a long time just for her. >.< And something about her also bonds me close to her.

    7. I sold mine unfortunately, he just didn't fit my character and I had no other personality for him. I do get a little sad whenever I see the same sculpt owned by other people, but I still wouldn't have kept him regardless.

    8. I gave my very first doll to my mother after I upgraded him from a CP Shiwoo to a Soom Dia Boy.

    9. I would never sell my little girl. I was wishing for a BJD all the time. I kept seeing pictures on dA and thought "If I could just have one, then I'd be happy." Of course, now I've got my second on the way :D But I would never ever sell my first. I love her too much!

    10. I still have half of it! XD
I bought him as a head and later bought a body that I recently sold to a firend *so its still pretty close if I ever feel the need to see it (not really XD)*

I really do not want to sell this one, he as been through a lot and even though he is still "sellable" I woudn't want to do so...
He is going through a makeover right now so even though I got many other dolls I'm still "taking care" of him ^___^

    11. I don't think I'd ever be able to get rid of my first doll...or any of my dolls for that matter. I'm the type of person who feels bad getting rid of things that have sentimental value so even if I got out of the doll hobby, I still wouldn't get rid of any of my dolls.

    12. I still have him, and I still love him. After two years of looking and debating what my first doll should be, it wasn't until his mold came along that I really felt, "I have to buy this doll!" There's no way I could part with him ever.

    13. OK, are we talking about our first ever, ever ever doll? Because if that's the case I still have my Madame Alexander baby Cathy doll from 1959. She isn't going anywhere until I need to pay for my daughter's college education... LOL.

First BJD? I'm not sure. I got him used because I really wanted to know how to work with the dolls before I went on to the more expensive ones. But, I'm pretty attached to him, so I think he's a forever member of the household.

    14. Yes! Yes! Yes! I have my very first 2 dolls from when I was a little girl. I've lost other stuff through the years but I love them and have made sure they are with me my whole life.

    15. I feel exactly the same way as King Alexander's post 4 replies above!

      Merci

    16. I don't think I will be able to. She is just too cute to sell or give away. I love her!

    17. I still have my first doll, and despite his yellowing resin, and the newbie mistakes he had to endure on my part he's still my little pretty prince, and my most popular doll among my friends, and anyone he meets.
He will be four years old on Oct. 13. :)

    18. She is a WS AOD Liu Yin mini, she is yellowing. I would never sell her. She is soon to be sent off for a new faceup and maybe freckles. I love her when she was White and I love her now that she is yellowing. she will always look good to me, she is just going from a brown eyed brunette into being a green eyed red head with freckles. She is so cute.

    19. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to get rid of my first BJD. Of course I only got her a couple of weeks ago but I still have the first model horse I ever got from when I was only five years old :/

    20. I've never sold any of my full dolls or particularly wanted to (though I do have some floating heads I should get around to selling), but I would be a bit reluctant to sell my first doll, I think, even though she's one of the easiest to replace.
