1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. Yes, I still have my first BJD, an older Narae. Even though she had yellowed, I still loved her and decided maybe some blushing would help. I sent her off and, amazingly, she had some color restoration done and is now a normal skin tone. The only thing is that she had to have her faceup redone because of the color restoration procedure.

    2. Yes, but only because until Frederick comes in she's my only doll. Plus she's my first, so I'll always love her as my 'first born'. And she's so cute ><

    3. Deej means so much to me that I know I'll probably never be able to part with him, even if his stringing tends to be all wonky, he's always picking up dirt like nobody's business, he's started to yellow. He's my Deejie!

    4. no, I did for a long time, but I let her go for THE ONE I had wanted for ever.

    5. Yep, I still have him. And he's looking better than ever :D

    6. Yes, I sold my first doll... it was a bit sad but as a doll owner you have to sort of figure out what works for you. I am not able to see dolls in person before I buy them so my research has been purchasing trial and error.

    7. He's still here with me ^^

    8. I don't think I'll ever sell Miyuki! I model her after what I wish I could look like. I give her all the piercings and tattoos as an outlet since I can't really get any because I have to work for a living!

    9. I never separated from my first bjd, cost me much get it and I have a special fondness
Besides its history is the most developed, and that I like most ^^

    10. Yes!!! my fantasia is everything hehe she reminds me of how hard I worked to get her. I noticed after your first doll its easier to get the others.

    11. I still have my first (and only doll), at times I've done feeler selling threads because I was in need of money, but could never actually bring myself to sell her.

    12. my first doll was a bobobie eric i got used off ebay. he needed tlc i got him and cleaned him up and touched up his face added lashes and have spoiled him ever since.

    13. I've only been into this hobby for about half a year now, but I can't see myself ever selling my first doll! She's so cute and I love her so much!

    14. I am thinking you mean my first BJD and if that's right the answer is 'Yes'. I have never sold any of my BJDs but I have started to consider that I might. The only ones I really would think of selling would be a few of my tinies.

Now as to my fashion dolls and porcelains I have sold or given away most of them. Some special ones remain but most all are gone. I did have Sybarites which are quasi-BJDs and sold them. They were just too delicate for me. Beautiful dolls but if I can't play with them I really don't want them. The whole big deal about BJDs is their ability to take on new looks by playing with their faces, wigs, eyes, clothing, shoes etc.. I truthfully enjoy them far more than the other dolls that just were dressed and displayed or in some cases kept in their boxes forever. They were beautiful but again no play factor.

    15. Yeah I have my first doll. <3 And I never have any intentions of leaving him! He's too special and holds too many memories for me to give him up. <3

    16. Yes my first doll is still with me. I don't think I'll ever sell him.

    17. I still have him. For how much longer I don't know.
I always thought I wouldn't sell him but I've become so disenchanted with him and tired of trying to give him a character I truly like. These days I also find his face a bit bland so I have sent him off for a new face-up to see how I feel when he has a bit more expression.

There's also the issue that I'm finding SDs are actually too big for me afterall and he's SD so...this may not end well.

    18. Oh, I still have her. She's my RS Rong. I just adore her just as much as I do all my dolls. I just yesterday had her new 'default' outfit come in. I didn't really have a nice outfit for her like I did all my other dolls, but I think that's because she means a little more to me than all my other dolls and so the outfit that's meant to be on her the most had to be perfect for her. This isn't to say she had no clothing. She did, but it wasn't really her, just something for her to wear.
It's a lot harder for me to do things with her, unlike my other dolls that I've face-uped myself or modified their existing face-ups.. because I would freak out if I messed anything up. I'm probably going to end up dropping a lot of money getting her a nice, custom face-up (she has a default company face-up now) because I don't trust myself enough to redo her face-up. I'd be too nervous!

    19. Well, I tried to get away from her but she decided to come back.
One day I sold her, thinking she just want right for me anymore, having had a dozen different looks. But the person I sold her to put her up for sale a short while after that and I couldn't help myself and bought her back xD
She has since had her eyes closed a bit, modded to fit her body better and a new faceup and look and I love her more than ever.

    20. I sold my first BJD because I kind of jumped into the hobby and bought a doll after not nearly enough research. I do still think about her, and I think she is gorgeous, but she just wasn't meant for my collection.
