1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. Yes, of course i kept him. I bought him about two years ago. And he is still one of the favorite molds what i know. I just bought another one and same mold as my first doll.

    2. I still have my first girl. I was considering selling her when I put my second girl up for sale but I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I love her waaaay to much.

Will it happen one day? Well I can't say no as anything could happen, but I certainly hope not.

    3. As time goes on I consider more and more in selling my very first doll. Of all my dolls he is still the most unfinished as is character was very immature when I bought him and while I struggle to build him up again I find that there is very little by way of clothing/wigs that suit him in exactly the way I hope for. At times I consider simply getting him a new body as the fact that he and another one of my dolls have the same body drive me absoutely batty, but since he's been modified to hell and back it's safe to say I'd be lucky if I could just GIVE his old body away which makes the whole idea rather useless.

In any case, despite or maybe even because of all this, he'll probably still stay. He's not my perfect doll anymore and I doubt he has the potential to ever really reach that spot again. Yet, he does still have some potential, and until dolls start coming alive and ordering me to work on them, there's no harm in letting him sit around a little more until I figure out what to do with him.

    4. I sold mine for the same reason as another recent reply: she was an impulse buy, a tiny I'd done no research on, and I decided I really don't like tinies. (Plus, I ended up selling most of my dolls, even the ones I loved to pieces, because I was unemployed for awhile and I needed to keep my car so I could get another job/survive more than I needed dolls. Even really pretty ones. =/)

    5. I've debated selling him three times, but I've decided to keep him each time- there's something special about my boy that I just can't let go. I've recently started modding him from his original state, though and may eventually get him a new face-up, but only time will tell!

But yes, I think I'll always have him unless I HAVE to sell him in order to eat/have a roof over my head/etc. XD Granted, I love the company's molds who made him, so he'll always fit in.

    6. I still have my first doll, a DoD DoC U, and I don't think I'll ever sell him <3 Even if I leave the hobby one day, I'll probably keep him. We've been through a lot together, he travels with me all the time, and I don't think I could part with him. I'm way too attached xD

    7. i sold my first doll in 2005 and have regretted it since!! I am actually in the process of buying another doll that is the exact same mold as my first doll, i should have never sold her in the first place.

    8. It's been almost three years now and I still have my first doll :'D I've come to realize I love my little guy so much, he's so cute! Even if I prefer big dolls, I still love that guy! Not sure if I'd ever be able to sell him!

    9. I will never sell my Heavenlea (MNF Lishe). I love her to itty bitty bits.

    10. Yup. :D It's June, he's my love. <33
I'm thinking of getting him a different body, though- but even then I'd still keep his old one just so he stays entirely together in a... er... physical? xD sense.

*crosses fingers for a MNF white a-line to somewhat match his DoD-pinkyness OTL*

    11. Technically I'll never sell my first ordered, which is Lesley. But I sold the first I've received.. actually traded her for a doll I liked better. I just could never bond with her so I had to. Was better than keeping her in her box all the time. >.<

    12. I thought I was in the group for "Will Never EVEEEER Sell a Doll." Well, Apparently I thought wrong, after owning my first doll for about two year-ish, I sold him. Because when I first gotten him, I never really did like him but I thought "Oh well, he costs me alot of money, so I'll keep him even though I dont like him." Dont get me wrong, he was fun and all, but many things was wrong about him for me, and bugs the hell outta me.

I also consecutively sold my second and third dolls as well. My tastes has matured and refined itself over the years, so now I know what dolls I want instead of just buying whatever dolls I see and think I like. *flashback to the time of the head-buying phase* But we'll get to that later. XD

    13. I think I would keep it, but I might update it. SO maybe changing the parts and things like that. :)

    14. So far I still own my first doll (of course, he arrived on January 26th of this year, but that doesn't matter), and I don't think I'll sell him (at least, no time soon). I agree with the changing parts comment, though. I might get him a new body eventually. XD

    15. My 1st msd No I did not keep him I gave him to my Best friend as a gift so I do get to see him. I did keep my 1st SD doll. He is my favorite of all my dolls and just got a new faces up and turned 5 last month.

    16. I'm keeping my first doll. I think people who sell their first dolls are people who might've jumped into the hobby too quickly, or just simply changed their tastes completely.

    17. I'm so in love with my first BJD... I plan on keeping him forever! I didn't think it was possible, but I love him even more now that he came back from being fixed (he had a horrible crack up his spine, and I have no idea how he got it...) I love him so much now that he is back home, I want to spoil him rotten, and get some ubber mods done on him... after all, I don't have to worry about devaluing him at all anymore... the crack did that for me... :/

    18. There's no way I could sell my Lucifer!! It took me ages to decide to buy a BJD but when I saw Lucifer I had to have him. But I wouldn't sell my other dolls either, I love them just as much :)

    19. I sold my first doll earlier this year after owning him for almost 5 years.

It was a CP EL, and while I still liked the mold, I just could not see the character it was incarnating in it. I spent a lot of time thinking wether it was a problem with the El or with the character, and I soon realized it was both: they were no longer appealing.

My tastes and interests have changed since I bought this doll, and I think I made the right decision when I sold him.

    20. i could never give up my baby boy! even if someone offered me a ton of money hes my baby and i could never let him go!
