1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. Oh yes, I definitely still have my first doll. Even after 5 years, changing tastes and multiple face-ups, he's still my favorite. He's a standard mold I could easily rebuy later, but I suspect I would sell all of my other dolls before him, if I had to.

    2. I still have my first and only BJD and I plan to keep her. I don't see myself selling her, I love her too much!

    3. I will always have my first doll! I look at him like a close friend. I would never even think of selling him! Even if he got yellow as a lemon, I would still love him forever :)

    4. Sha is my sweet dream doll; so, completely a keeper for life! :)

    5. I still have my very first doll from childhood (NOT a BJD LOL) & would have my Barbie except children happened ~sad~ so I just cannot imagine EVER selling my first BJD :D

    6. My first BJD, Dani -- a Buddy Doll Raphael -- is exactly three years old today! :) So proud of him. I bought him a macbook air as a gift for staying with me for so long and the luckiest thing was that the package arrived today -- on a Saturday even! :D I am never selling him. He's very special to me and now that Buddy Doll's been taken over by another company, who knows if I'll ever see his sculpt again? He's definitely for keeps.

    7. Nope. I had him for a year or so, then sent him off to someone else who'd love him just as much.

    8. Yup, still got her. Even if I sold all the other ones and got out of the hobby I'd probably still keep her :)

    9. I've only been in the hobby for a year and none of my dolls are really finished, but Migidoll Ryu remains by favorite sculpts and U have a feeling he will always be my first and favorite ^^

    10. I actually sold my first two dolls. I am now on my third doll and finally a keeper! I do not regret selling my other two dolls, it just took me a couple of tries to figure out what I wanted. :)

    11. I have sold close to 30 dolls/floating heads since joining the hobby (and amassed about as many for my current collection), but I still have my first boy, a Luts Abadon. He is about 3 years old and showing his age in yellowing. His faceup is chipping and he gets almost no attention at all (poor thing) but that's the way he likes it, and I still can't imagine myself parting with him.

    12. I just remembered my very first bjd the day before. Took her out and gave her a fresh face up ^^ I couldn't say shes at good as new again as she was the first doll I had experimented a lot with, but she sure does look much fresher! I dont think I can come to terms with parting with her yet, she is after all pretty different from the rest of my dolls.

    13. Still have mine! Will never sell her; too much sentimental value. Actually I had her up in the marketplace for a short time, but I just can't let go of my first baby! And i wouldn't know how to price either, since I modded her and I believe it's an improvement. And I finally have a character that I think fits her very well, before, I was always unsatisfied with her look.

    14. I still have Amir and will never sell him. Ever. Him or Loki, my 2nd...well...I did sell Loki's body because I hated it, but I upgraded him and kept the head for his future son. :D

There is nothing in the world that could make me sell Amir. He's my baby. No bills or anything, even if I was facing eviction, he wouldn't bring enough cash to pay anything. I bought him brand new for $175, and now he's yellowed and has scratches and gouge in his back....I doubt I'd get $100 for him. But I could never, ever let him go, his sentimental value is through the roof!

    15. Welp...my first was a Migidoll Miho. He was a beautiful sculpt and everything...but I just couldn't bond with him. I couldn't figure out why really, until I received my second doll - a MNF Karsh. Then I realized it was the size - I can't help but find larger dolls rather intimidating.

So, I sold my Miho to someone who is loving him well, and now I've had my MNF quite a while, and I have no intention of selling him!

    16. I sold my first, but then I sort of knew I was going to do that from the start.
I got a starter doll. I know a lot of people are against those, but for me I think it was the right thing. I wasn't sure that this was the right hobby for me, I also knew that I wanted to do a lot of the customization myself and I didn't want to be too scared to try. It also helped me realize what size I liked.
I don't regret buying or selling her one bit.

    17. I did not keep my first doll. I sold my Dolfie Dream and my MSD Ken to buy stuff for the doll that was always my favorite that I got much later, the SD Four Sisters mold. :) I did love those first dolls very much, but after a while, I just stopped playing with them. It seemed better to give them homes where people would get more happiness out of them.

    18. My first doll, Hinoto is what drew me into the world of ABJD's back in 2005. Since I was into Japanese anime as well, (X/1999 my fav!) I had the need to bring my favorite character 'to life.' Hinoto is still my eldest child. ;)

    19. Yes. Yuki is still here and still a love, even if I don't do much with him (DZ Megi). He's an old-timer, on the old heavy body that I love, and still has the same sweet face (and face-up).

I have a dreadful time naming dolls. But he was the first. I knew who he was as soon as I picked him up from his first owner, and I had neither planned that nor had even thought much about a name. You'd never know I bonded with him as much as I did, but if I had to cut down to only a handful of dolls, Yuki, Ken-san, Battousai and Zel would be on the "do not touch" list. :)

    20. I don't think I'll sell him even if I give up dolls...I may just put him into his box but never sell him`
