1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. Yes, the first doll is so special. Started me down a slippery path tho.

    2. I still have my first doll, but i'm considering selling him because i don't have much time for him and it makes me feel bad @_@

    3. I'd probably keep my first doll for years and years and years, but she'd probably be one of the first to be sold as well. I'd sell her just because I like to cycle dolls and get different ones.

    4. After nearly 39 years, she is still with me, though I need to get her some clothes!

    5. I sold mine, I bought him because he wasn't as expensive as others and before I knew a lot more about them.. Later on I just didn't enjoy him as much as my other dolls so he had to go.

    6. Never I will sell the first doll even if bothers

    7. He's still with me (have had him since october this year) and I don't plan to get rid of him! :D

    8. I have only been in this hobby for six months, but I don't think my first doll is going anywhere. He is utterly and entirely adorable and though I have looked at countless dolls now, he is still the only perfect dollification of my character.

Actually, I'm so pleased and happy with the three dolls dolls I have that I can't imagine letting go of any of them. What I can imagine is getting them new bodies at one point, if there were an obvious improvement in looks or engineering. Not saying that I absolutely would exchange the bodies, only that I wouldn't rule it out. But the only *head* I can contemplate parting with is my practice head :).

    9. Don't know if I ever posted here, but I still have my first doll, my cranky HZ Wangye. Cannot imagine ever parting with him. I love him to bits, and his scowling little face makes me laugh. I think there's a lot to be said for a doll that makes you laugh. Even if he doesn't seem too amused at being laughed at. ;)

    10. well,i know i will and i always do~every "first" is kinda memorable and have some meaning for me even my fist doll was not my dream doll, still prefect enough to love, not to mention that would be the longest doll u ever keep in the first place if nothing happen to the doll~

    11. Yeah, my first doll is still with me~ Because he is special to my because he was my first doll, so he has very big part of space in my heart :aheartbea

    12. My first is my favorite and has been for some time. She's gorgeous - and the only one I own so far with a custom face up, so I just find her to be really neat. I'd never give her up!

    13. I don't think I'd be able to sell my little Allura... Because she's such a small doll and so unique (I think I've only seen one other of her mold!)--plus, she's very special to me! Even as her faceups rub off and she gets a bit beat up, I still adore her. :aheartbea

    14. How I got my first doll was not by the usual path. My main emotional tie to her is that it was a dear friend who did her face up and body blushing. But I was preparing for an art grant proposal and just needed "a ball joint doll"... Plus, I didn't want to spend too much money. My friend sold a pretty AOD doll to me. I didn't, and wouldn't have picked her, if I had been out looking at that time.

I had admired bjd in deviantArt galleries, but did not have any knowledge about them at that time. After the first one got here, I became fascinated and started watching them on eBay. The next doll I got I CHOSE. She is my heart connected doll. She is an older Serendipity Alice. Her finger had been glued back on, and no one was bidding on her. She looked so utterly dejected in the auction photo, which was not at all flattering! I had to have her, and she only cost $100. I probably wouldn't take $1,000 for her. I live in hurricane country and I am sure that my cat, and that doll are at the top of the list of things I would grab on the way out.

    15. I can't remember if I have posted in this thread before but I have had my dolls for 6 years. It doesn't seem like that long ago I got my first doll Saya (old body Customhouse Ai Sia). I had been wanting a Volks Kira and at that time wasn't familiar with the DOA so I was going on my own. I ended up on ebay and saw the listing for the Sia. She was soo pretty and a good price. Still the most expensive doll at the time (I was used to buying collector Barbies at the time). She is always my favorite but over the past couple of years her faceup has suffered so I usually would leave her at home instead of taking her to a meet. Recently though she got a new faceup and looks as amazing as ever. Once my mother saw her, she fell in love with her and told me that I can never sell her. :) I never plan on it.

    16. I think i would definetly keep him. Sometimes i realise myself thinking, should i buy him again ,as same mold, to make him to look more newlike. But still i think i wouldn't dare to do that to my first doll. It has so much good memories behind it so it sounds so , weird not to have him anymore ,even if it would be the same mold .Even it was the same i think it wouldn't be newer the same than the old one ;__;

    17. Yes and no. I recieved my two first dolls the same day. One was a Jaime Doll`s Trudy wich sadly and due to economical issues i was forced to sell a long time ago. The other one was an event head wich DIM gifted me with the purchase of an order, i made modifications on the head, and now she has converted into my little Charlotte:

So like i say, yes and now. I think is pretty nice to have the first doll in the hobby.

    18. Lorelei is my girl and I´ll be with her forever :p and the same for the other kids.

    19. My DZ Megi 2 was my very first doll, and I will probably keep him forever <3

    20. I'll probably keep my first doll, but more out of sentiment for the circumstances in which she was acquired rather than some special association with my first doll. My memories of acquiring her are very tied into my memories of my fiance, and how supportive he was, so I wouldn't want to get rid of her for that reason. :aheartbea
