1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. I got Megumi (my first Asian doll) in 2006, and I've never looked back since. I still have Meg, and I've added to the doll krewe periodically ever since. I could never, ever give Meg up. She knows it too, the little minx.

    2. I still have my first doll and I can't imagine I'll ever sell him:).

    3. I still have mine and I'm planning to keep her forever >U< Or more like, I plan to keep all of my dollies forever >3>;; Hopefully I'll be able to >3<)/

    4. My first doll was my AoD ZiYuan, Alice. She's just over 4 years old now. I admit there were a few times over the years I thought a little about selling her, mainly because my knowledge & tastes changed as I got more into the hobby. I was no longer happy with Alice's white skintone (all my other dolls are normal skin), or with her faceup (done by my very unprofessional hand lol). But last year I sent her out for a new artist-done faceup, and changed her style a bit with a nice new pair of eyes, wig, and new clothes. We finally truly bonded, and now I adore everything about her. She's with me for life. ^_^

    5. Nope, my Supia Roda is long gone and boy do I regret selling her sometimes. She was really stunning.

    6. So glad I found this thread! Got my first doll 5 months ago. Not the result of much searching and planning like most people, but I happened to accidentally fall into the ABJD rabbit hole while working on something else. I saw this amazing doll-thing (BBB Espree) and had to have her. Now, of course, there's a whole world out there, and I've realized the BBB Sprite/Espree sculpt is EVERYWHERE. I've wondered if I'd ever sell her because of that, but every time I do it makes me sad. I love her so much--she's got a story surrounding her, and I'm still making her clothes/stuff.

      But still. I do wonder if some day . . . .

    7. Nope! I hated my first doll (Leeke D Chouette). I hated his body, his face, everything. It was the perfect example of buying a cheap doll and getting what you pay for...
      I'm glad I sold him to someone who actually liked him. It's taken a long time but I finally learned that you have to just go for the expensive doll if that's the one you really want @_@;

    8. The first doll I had in my posession was my grail, so I don't ever plan on selling her ^^ The first doll I ever ordered was a Dollshe Saint, and after 14 months several odd days, I'll finally have him this week. I hope I keep him, he was one of my grails as well ^^

    9. She's still here! I bought my first doll as an inexpensive sewing model 4 years ago; and immediately fell in love with her. She just got a new faceup last month, which is the first one to really emphasize how pretty she is. And I switched out a pair of hands this winter as that's the other thing I never cared for with her original Dollinian body. I can't imagine having her go away.

    10. Hi, i am new and know nothing execpt the answer to this question, maybe. I will always keep my first doll, mostly the feeling I had when I opened her box has never actually been quite replicated with my subsequent dolls (not their fault!!!) I have collected dolls all my life and accidentally stumbled on the BJD scene. When I could finally afford to purchase my first doll, I hardly labored over which one to pick because she kind of just drew me. When I received her, I was in speechless awe. I played and played with her and her personality developed to where I do not alter her anymore. I would never dream of selling her.

    11. Nope :( I mean.. I still have him now, but I'm selling him. He's beautiful, but I never bonded with him as well as I had hoped.

    12. I would never ever sell my first doll. I love him too much he means too much to me...even have memories of when I got him and all those things. The character wouldn't be him if it wasn't this particular doll which was an DX X.

    13. Unfortunately, yes. Even though I loved his sculpt I had him for 2 years and just never did anything with him, he was too big for me. But if Dollshe ever makes a mature mini size versions of his dolls I'd probably buy 10.

    14. Yes, I did sell my very first doll. I'm not really sure why, I think I just wanted other things at the time and I left the bjd hobby for a few years. I don't regret selling her but I do regret getting out of the hobby. Definitly going to stay in it from now on and keep my new first(second, she seems like a first to me) doll.

    15. I honestly never bonded with my first doll, and I ended up reshelling his character into a doll that I DID bond with. So in the end, I did sell my first doll, but not my first character. I've honestly never felt bad about it, selling him just allowed me to get another doll that I liked better :)

    16. No way would I ever sell Lillith. The world could be ending and I wouldn't sell her! I don't play with her much but she still means a lot to me.

    17. As much as I love my first doll there have been times I have been tempted to sell her to get a new doll that I really really want. But, then I remember that she's my first and she was my 21st birthday present from my parents. So I probably won't ever sell her unless I well and truly fall out of love with her.

    18. I don't have my first doll yet, but when I get her, I shall have no intentions of getting rid of her. My first doll also happens to be my dream doll, and happens to be the doll that got me into this hobby in the first place. :aheartbea

    19. I still have Ces, he arrived as a new doll 6 years ago and has stayed with me ever since :) I don't think I'd ever willingly sell him. He has a very strong, developed character and has been with me through thick and thin. He'll always be my favorite and if it was a choice between a beautiful new doll or him I'd pick my Cesavier every time. ^_^ (Plus my boyfriend is pretty darned attatched to him too!)

    20. I'm still on my first doll. :) Haven't found him a sister yet.
