1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. Yes, my very first BJD is the one I am the most attached to...although she was rehomed to me in pieces, she's still the most vivid character in my collection.

    2. I haven't kept my first doll, but don't regret buying him. IH Soo Ri is a beautiful sculpt, but I soon found out that white skin resin doesn't work for me and neither does a lower torso joint. Those are things you will only find out when you've got the time to play with your doll. Because of my first doll I now know really well what I like and don't like.

    3. No, I didn't keep her but I found out I really miss her. When the chance comes I'll be bringing her home again one day :)

    4. I keep my first ball jointed doll and still like it too much as the other ones. (I hope and believe he will not change color in the future because he ever had an unusual skin tone of lovely pure yellow resin). My Huika is one year and two months old.

    5. Sell her? NO! I've never gotten a doll who didn't jump out of the computer, grab me by the throat, and shout, "BUY ME!"

    6. I thought about selling my first once in order to afford a new doll. I considered her because she's my only straight-factory-default doll so I could get her again, but I just couldn't do it. I'm too attached. I also still think she is the most beautiful sculpt offered by that particular company.

    7. Mine is still with me, although he's yellowed beyond repair. I think I'll always keep him around in my room no matter how many dolls I buy.

    8. My first doll was actually a Pullip and I'm considering selling her to help pay for a BJD.

My first BJD was Lutra, who is in my avi. I got her in January of '11 and I still have and love her. :)

    9. Yes! I can't imagine getting rid of her!

    10. Of course, I keep. The first my doll, Limhwa HalfElf, is very cute and tender girl. She is my honey, I can't imagine for myself to separate from her.

    11. yep, i dont think i will ever sell my dolls in the future =) im gonna keep them until i get old lol

    12. I can finally answer this question: No, I did not keep my first doll. She was Iplehouse Luna, and as much as I loved her and enjoyed learning how to handle BJDs because of her, the greatest thing I learned from having her is that I really disliked the fact that she can't share clothes with my other girls :( And money-wise, it's not really easy to budget clothes that several dolls can share versus buying a separate set solely for her. She's gone on to a new and lovely home, and that's really all I can be happy about in letting her go: the fact that she's bringing joy to someone else.

    13. Yep--eight years and counting! Pen (Customhouse Gene) is still with me, and I can't imagine him going anywhere until or unless the day comes when I just can't keep any dolls around. He was the start of one of the best hobbies I've ever gotten involved in!

    14. I still have my childhood doll. Yes I keep my very first doll. She is loved.

    15. I don't understand why people sell their first doll, If you bought the doll, isn't it because you love them? I will NEVER sell my first doll, not for anything in the world. I will love every doll I ever get.:aheartbea

    16. There is no discussion here...
And good for you and all, but not everyone feels the same. Some people have money problems, others, like me, just don't want to have a doll sitting around they don't spend any time on anymore.
You can love a doll, but end up not caring for it later. It happens.

    17. No need to be mean.. I was just saying. & If someone has money problems, why get into the the hobby in the first place?

    18. Maybe they don't get money problems until many years after they buy the doll?

    19. True, but I can't wrap my head around the idea of selling any doll I get. If I am having money problems, I will find a way. I guess that just me.

    20. Many people who are in the hobby have to sell a doll one way or the other for multiple reasons. There has been different threads regarding this subject. Like Snow said there isn't much discussion here.
