1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. I'm far too attached to my Tasha to let her go ^^ It's odd because I've gone completely head-over heels for Iplehouse dolls and she's an Asleep Eidolon (not nearly as realistic) but... she was my first and I love her to bits :'D I got a second doll and didn't connect with her at all which, I guess, just makes her all the more special...

    2. Yes I have. He is just my favorite and I really love him. :D I wouldn't give him up.

    3. My first doll, an AOD Wang Zi, I got on impulse because he was super cheap (120$ shpped secondhand). I loved him while I owned him, but he definitely wasn't a doll I lusted after. He was just a cheap "starter doll"
The oldest doll I owned currently is my Soom Ai that got in June 2011, she was probably my 10th+ doll.
I have a minifee body I got in April 2011 that's older than my Ai, but I no longer have the head that came with it.

    4. I sold my first doll :(

i loved het soooo much but there was something that wasn't there I kept her in her box for about 2 months because I couldn't bring myself to sell her but I didn't want to display her (she was white skin and had yellowed really bad in about a month) so I sold her because she wasn't getting the attention but she went to a girl not much older than me and she was her first doll too so :)

    5. So this thread has been around a long time, and I'm sure at some point, two or three years ago, I probably posted in it.
      Well, I'm back.

I said in the past that I couldn't dream of selling my first doll, but in the end, I did.
      Aesthetics change, doll needs change.
I'm a different person than I was when I purchased my first doll, and it was just time to let him go in favor of something new. :)

    6. I don't think I could sell my first doll she was my first for almost everything in this hobby and I think will be my first for many more things.

    7. I can't really tell if I'd sell her in the future because she's just arrived but I'm absolutely in love with her. I get more attached to the character I create around them than the actual doll though so who knows I might reshell her in the future or replace her by the same (newer and less yellowed) sculpt. I hope I never have to do this though. She's so important to me already.

    8. I have sold my first bjd only this last week. I bought him when I did not know much about bjds and sculpts. I still liked him but not to the extent of my others and tended to neglect him. I'm happy he has gone to someone else to enjoy.

    9. I still have my first doll, a Resinsoul Mei , and always will :)
Everytime I look her pretty face , I remember that she gave me my very first " BJD thrill " ^^

    10. My first doll was an actually a wedding present. We got a large amount of money from my father in law and my husband looked at me and asked if I still wanted a BJD. So I got the dolly I had first fallen in love with! My Luts KDF Ani is my precious boy and I just love him to pieces! I could never give him up, for a multitude of reasons!

    11. My first doll was a present from my best friend. He is a Bluefairy Tommy, Kiyoshi. He's about 9 years old now and I will never give him up for the world!!! He makes me so happy! I can never get over how cute his chubby little face is XD

    12. My first BJD has also yellowed, but I really can't sell her. She looks like my granddaughter. :o( Weird to say but I have a tough time selling any of my dolls. I get to know the artists and it just seems wrong somehow. In more than 10 years I've only sold 3 dolls. Two were to people who really, really, wanted that doll and had missed it.

    13. I didn't keep my first doll...
She went to someone who will appreciate her more than I could :)

    14. It's funny, my last post in this thread is from 2009. XD
Guess I'll just repost and say I still have my first boy. He finally got a new faceup after like 5 years. XP

    15. I won't be keeping my first doll. I haven't bonded with her at all.

    16. I still have my first - his head, anyway. I upgraded him to a different body. For years I've avoided sending him out for a faceup, but I finally gathered the courage to send him away last week. I want him to look his best and my skills just aren't where I'd like them to be yet.

    17. Aw, I sold my first doll. Actually I sold all of them minus one, which was given to my sister because she fell in love with him. My first was an Elfdoll Soah (the 58cm girl as I don't think they even had the mini Soah back then). I still miss her :( I never really missed my other dolls, but she was very dear to me.

But life got hectic and I moved upstate and never had time for my BJDs anymore. I got rid of the others, but kept Soah for months. She just sat in her box in the closet though, so I figured she needed to go too.

I'm just starting back this hobby after 7 years so I'm wondering if I'll bond hard-core with my first doll this go round like I did with my Soah. I hope so.

    18. Same with me. I was able to sell my second doll. But never my first.. Your first doll is always special and all my memoris of him would break my heart to if I were to lose him :...(

My first doll I got in 2008. And he will stay with me forever :aheartbea

    19. I can't imagine to sell my first doll. On the one hand, she is with me for only one year now and isn't finished yet and on the other hand every time i look at her and see her pretty face i fell in love again :D

    20. I still have my first doll. His name is Zen and he is a Domuya Zen Jr. I don't think I could ever sell him or any of my others it would be way to hard.
