1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. I know a lot of people keep their first doll because of the bond, but I just didn't have that with mine. It was cool and a great exposure to bjds, but it wasn't meant to be. Now I know I don't like white skin or stylized appearances.

    2. I bought two together as my first dolls. Star is staying, but Yue is possibly going. I'm gonna try changing her hair and get her a new faceup and body since hers is kicky as heck and if that doesn't help, sorry but it's goodbye :C

    3. I've only actually had dolls since early 2012, I think, but I don't think I can get rid of my first. I can't bring myself to get rid of any so far, even the ones I haven't really 'bonded' with. I also bought my friend's first (and only) MSD off her. She got her originally back when we were in middle school together. We were IN LOVE with the dolls we found online and were going to get our first two together. I never could, parents said no. So. Years later, here her doll is in my possession. She's happy she went to me. I never would have imagined I would have gotten her doll. So in a way, I have two first dolls I guess!

    4. Yes, I still have her! I could never part with her. :aheartbea

    5. I have just sold my first doll - a little realpuki. He was just too small for me to pose regularly. I only have a few bjd's and I like to change their clothes and poses at least once a week to develop their characters (very important to me). He was too hard to easily pose and was a little kicky which didn't help so he has gone to a new home where he will be truly appreciated. the funds from his sale have allowed me to be able to pre-order another so I don't feel too sad.

    6. I will ALWAYS keep my first doll and I will NEVER wipe her faceup as it was my first ever faceup and I know it isn't that good but I am still proud. And it will always be a sentimental thing to me. :)

    7. No, I sold my first a few months ago and though it was a little sad, I knew she needed to go to someone that would love and appreciate her more than I could ever. She just didn't fit into the doll family that I was forming, so she had to go.

    8. I started to buy dolls on May 2013
My first doll is crobidoll Tori, and I still keep him until now.. My fave

    9. I had mine for a good long while but as my tastes changed she had to go!

    10. I could never, even though my tastes have become less stylized and more realistic, I just couldn't let her go.
Every "first" in the hobby was with her. First time sueding, first time stringing, first time character building/sketching, first time prop making. Cosplaying her was the reason I started going to cons, and now it is such a huge part of my life.
But I'm a sentimental fool anyways, so...

    11. Yes I still got mine. C:

    12. Yes. I've had Lenore since 2008.

    13. I sold my first Bjd doll, but i'm waiting for my second and i think i never will sell her <3

    14. I think I will keep my first doll forever. She was my 21st birthday present and she is pretty much what keeps me from going crazy.

    15. I still have Kyle, my Resin Soul Feng, and I would like to think I'd never sell him.
He's my experimental guinea pig. :)
Not ever, even when his head is too big and his tall, lanky body too small for that humongous head. :D

Still, only time will tell if I will ever sell him, trade him, or give him away.
Not to mention if I might accidentally destroy him, lose him, have him stolen, or the like. :atremblin

    16. I could have sworn a few years ago I saw this very topic, but I wonder if it has since been archived.

I think for many doll owners there is a special significance assigned to their very first doll, and as such, it may be treated or viewed different than the rest. Many times I have read about how a first doll will never, ever be sold, even if it no longer fits into the owner's current collection or personal aesthetics. I'd like to discuss more about this topic? How do you feel about selling a first doll? Would you? Have you? Please share your experiences and feelings on the matter.

I was once in the camp that my first doll would never be let go, even as both his character and sculpt lost their significance to me. Now I'm not so sure, and my only regret about looking for a new home is not because of the doll himself, but the people he brought me closer to that may feel shunned.

    17. Since I still have my favorite childhood doll, it is not likely that I will part with my first BJD. (My childhood happened a LOT of years ago.)
When I add a doll, it just joins the doll family and moves into the house.

    18. I still have the first doll I ordered, however I bought and received another one before he arrived. I did sell that one after about a year. I will keep my first, he's my lovely boy.:)

    19. I gave my first BJD away as a gift to my best friend so it wasn't too bitter sweet =) Never had trouble selling any but I later starting missing some when I go back and look at old photos. :pout:

    20. I still have my first bjd. And every other one I ordered. I traded a "sorry we f'd up doll and head," but that's it. I have given my first doll a complete style remodel (same faceup). She's still here and I don't plan on her going anywhere.
