1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. I could never ever ever even consider parting with my first doll. He's an amazing doll, the longer I spend with him the more I like him and the more I come to appreciate the fact that I made the best choice ever with choosing him. He has been through several faceups as I looked for the perfect one and his style is slowly evolving but that is only natural. I feel blessed with the knowledge that no matter how many the dolls I come to own will become he'll still be special to me.

    2. My first doll (an Iplehouse YID) is definitely my favorite so I don't think that I would ever part with him. I have considered selling or trading my other two dolls (a Soom Super Gem and a Luts Super Senior Delf) so that I can have all Iplehouse dolls. I don't think you should feel any shame in wanting to get rid of your first doll. I'm sure you had a lot of great memories with him but sometimes you just have to move on.

    3. When I first received my first doll, I swore I'd never part with her. I never grew to become uninterested in her, but when I turned 18, life happened. I went to college, got a full-time job, moved away... bills, study, work... there was just no time. My dolls just sat in their boxes and months, then years went by. I sold my other dolls first, but I held onto just first for a year after that. Then I decided there was no point in keeping her if she was going to always be in a box in the closet and sold her too. I do still miss her, and it's sad because now the sculpt is discontinued. But, when I got back into the hobby, I got a new "first" and she's been just as special to me. I'll never say never when it comes to selling any doll though... life happens fast and changes constantly.

    4. There was no real special significance assigned to my first doll. In fact, I almost left the hobby before I even got started because of my immense disappointment and frustration with my first doll. I tried and tried to sell him, and finally succeeded in doing so in April 2014, after having him tucked away in a box practically since 2009.

    5. I couldn't sell my first doll fast enough. He was a DollZone Mo, I didn't 'bond' with him at all, but was forced to keep him for 2 years as I was very young and inexperienced and didn't know the first thing about selling and shipping anything. In the end, I gritted my teeth and managed to sell him after all. Best thing I ever done.

    6. My first doll is someone I have no intention to ever part with.
I originally intended to purchase only one doll - ever - and decided to make the OC that I as good as always try to create when I can make an OC in a video game. As such he has accompanied me for years and holds a special meaning to me.
I've also made certain to properly research for weeks about the 'right' doll for him. I still think there is no other doll in MSD size that would work out as well as the one I choose for him. As such I don't think I'll ever want to let go of him.

In the end - no matter how much sentiment he holds and how dear he is to me - he is still a doll. If I absolutly needed to sell him I would. I'm not sure if I would want to re-purchase him afterwards (the doll is not limited at all) as it just wouldn't be the same. He wouldn't be my first doll, but just one that looks like him.

I would by now no longer consider him the favourite of my collection, as I do little with him. BUT he's still very special to me.

    7. I have two firsts my first floating head who i got in 2007 a mnf shiwoo vamp. He got stolen by an ex who didnt want to give him back but in the end i managed to get him back. Then my first full doll a MNF ryeon boy...i sold the head & kept the body..and ended up buying the same mold over again! I wouldnt sell the vamp shiwoo as I love him dearly but the mnf ryeon boy i would if i had too. Life happens & sometimes you gotta make sacrifices no matter the sentiment.

    8. I got my first almost 7 years ago, and I still have him. I've since upgraded his character to a larger doll, but I still have his mini version locked away in my memory trunk. I've said I'll never sell him, but sometimes I do think about it since I don't do anything with him anymore. However, considering he was only $183 brand new with shipping, and he's so old, yellowed and damaged now that I think his sentimental value is higher than his monetary value, I'll continue to hang on to him.

    9. I bought two dolls as my first and sold one when it arrived right away. It wasn't right for what I wanted and I wasn't going to just let money sit there wasted.

    10. I sold my first doll. Sometimes, I miss her, but it was never meant to be.

    11. My first doll has a few scratches here and there and a weird fleck on her face and she's yellowed severely over the years but I love her to bits and I wouldn't sell her even if she was in perfect condition :'3

      Of course, if push came to shove, I'd sell all my dolls but I don't like to think about it >>;

    12. I bought my first doll without knowing anything about them. I went for what I could afford. Quickly learned that many people consider her an inferior doll - "typical newbie doll" was the general consensus, but I don't care. I love her anyway and think she is the sweetest thing ever. (Resinsoul Mei). At first I was feeling intimidated by the criticism, and thought of selling her. But I'm glad I kept her.

    13. I would probably never sell my first doll. I love her way too much. I adore her. She's super yellow now and chipped. But I'll never wipe the faceup. :D

    14. I don't even remember what company my first doll came from and haven't seen it in ages... I only know I haven't sold it, but just could never grow attached to it... it was a cheap 1/6 doll, can't remember if a Volks or an Obitsu, but definitely something I never really cared about... I was new to the hobby and just bought the first thing I fancied and evidently made a mistake -.-

    15. I still have my first doll, a DollZone Cat, since 2008, while I like it always a lot and taking great care of it, since I don't do anything of my remaining dolls, I'll sell it one a day. Many dolls passed at home but he was here all along, travelling across Europe due to his pocket size, he'll leave with many great memories. Was the first to come, will be the last to leave ?

    16. I don't think that I'll ever get rid of my very first doll because she's so special to me. I've had her for 4 years now and I plan to keep improving and changing bits about her so that I'll stay interested and not want to sell her. I haven't sold any of my dolls yet because I've found that just changing the wig and clothes of a doll that I'm unsure about will make me love them more again because I'll find out more about their character and what suits them!

    17. I ordered two dolls together as my "first" and have neither left. One I couldn't bond with at all, I loved (and still love) the sculpt, but nothing I did with her could bring out the best in her. I tried for 2 years or more and nope. Nothing.
The second one I sold and I'm not quite sure why. I went through a phase of "omg I have too many dolls" and so off she went. I regretted it almost immediately, but told myself I wouldn't get her again unless I could get her in tan skin. Well... She's on her way to me very soon and I couldn't be happier. I get my first girl back and better than ever.

I don't think there's anything wrong with selling your first doll. They are just dolls after all, and expensive ones at that. So ultimately you need to do what's right for you!

    18. Ten days ago I posted in this thread that I would never sell my Resinsoul Mei, but I have had a change of heart. I now plan to sell her. I've realized that fairy and elf dolls are not my thing. I much prefer more realistic dolls.
I'm hopelessly in LOVE with my boys, Genesis (5Star Tumnus) and little Rex (5 Star Rex)

    19. She was a .... I don't remember. I sold it! I never connected with her like I have with my other dolls.

    20. I would never sell mine. She's a DollsTown Seola on a 7 year old body who came to me third-hand. I loved her on a friend's blog and when my friend downsized her collection, I was lucky enough to bring Fawn home.
