1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. As I was both wildly unimpressed and actively disliked my first doll (not enough, however, to stop me from immediately trying again as within a few days I'd ordered my second doll - who, for what it's worth, is still here going on 9 years later), I have no regrets in regards to selling him whatsoever - in fact, I cheered as I packed him back into his box. He hung around (being ignored) for more than a year, and then I just had to see him on his way.

(For the curious, he was a Dollzone Xi...)

    2. Hmm, I sold my first doll and my second doll. The first one within 6 months, and the second within 4. I think I got excited my husband decided to say he wouldn't mind if I got a doll at a convention, and then I got super excited about getting a girl. In hindsight, I should have waited.

    3. I have my first dolls but I am brand new.

    4. I didn't sell my first. One, because I promised her previous owner that I would always look out for the doll and love her. Two, because she is one of my favorite sculpts and characters, and three because she is too damaged in some places for me to feel comfortable selling her. I had to fix a lot of cracks and such when I got her. She was just really old and loved too much. I've put so much work into making her better that I just couldn't sell her.

    5. I never thought that I would sell my first doll but I ended up doing so in the end. She was a Bobobie Espree. After I had her for a year or so, I tried to get her a better body but I ended up not liking the new one any more than the old one. Then, I tried to give her a new look, several times, and it just wasn't coming out right. She ended up sitting around unfinished for a long time and I was just frustrated about her, so I finally sent her off to a new home. I do miss her but not enough to get another because I'd just have the same issues, but I don't regret getting her in the first place.

    6. my first doll was from 2008. even tho he doesn't pose as well as some of the newer dolls, I doubt I will sell him.

    7. I only have one doll so far and he is my very first doll ever.
;m; I'm super new to the hobby but my doll is very special too me even if I got 1000 more in the future I could never see my self selling him I always wanna keep him! My best friend I've known from a kid gave him to me to get me into the hobby she knew I always wanted a bjd ;u; an she picked him special for me so I now and will always love him <3

    8. My very, VERY first doll I purchased back in 2006 I sold...I bought her because of a combination of me thinking she was cute and she was cheap. XD I had her for a little over a year and sold her to someone who sold her less than a month later. I'm still in touch with the current owner, who's had her since 2008, and has said multiple times that even if she left the hobby, she'd never be able to sell her...so it's nice knowing she's somewhere that she's loved. :)

As far as my first doll since coming back to the hobby in 2013, I feel like I won't...but you honestly never know. I love her a LOT, but I can't say for certain that I'll never sell her. At this point I don't believe I will. She's very precious to me. <3

    9. I am new at this hobby and still have my first doll (DollZone Demi) and I am sure that I will never sell her! In few days I should get new body for her. I will repaint her and give new wig, soon she will look perfect ;) love her so much ^^

    10. I'm gonna do it up ancient Egyptian style. She's going to be buried with me.

    11. I sold my first doll but later was luckily able to purchase him back. I'm not going to sell him ever again but his other MSD buddies aren't safe at all :sneaky

    12. We have fourth anniversary this year...! I definetlly want to keep him. :3

    13. I dont think i ever could. I thought about it when i fell on some hard times but i realized i would be very unhappy if i sold him, or any of my dolls. for forever with me they will stay.

    14. I don't think I could ever sell my first dolls~ They just have so much sentimental meaning.

    15. I sold my first doll technically but to my mom. So she's not really gone, nor do I really consider her my first doll (if that makes sense). I still have who I consider my first doll, and probably won't ever sell him.

    16. I know exactly what dolls I choose and I don't plan to sell one - EVER.
So yes, I do keep my first doll :)

    17. My first doll I seriously doubt I would ever sell. He's got quite a bit of sentimental value for me because I bought him during a tough time. And after several years of owning him, I still love him just as much even though my stylistic preferences have changed.

    18. Still got her. Funny that I no longer play with her at all...but she's too cute and precious for me to sell right now.

    19. I still have her, we have been together for around 9 years. I love her and wouldn't sell her at all.

    20. I am in hobby 5 years and I don't think i'll ever sell my first doll, because he was my first and I still like him. He brought me real happiness.
