Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. I feel like Temishi - I bought my first doll secondhand and she is kind of yellow. Since I wouldn't get very much for her I'd rather give her away to start someone else off in the hobby, or keep her and love her just the way she is.

    2. My first BJD is still around even though i only like Fairyland bjds atm, my first bjd is a dollzone annie and i really don't think ill ever sell her :/ theres just a connection with her

    3. My first BJD was an Dollzone Jake and he is still with me and a very important doll to me. He is more than five years with me and I think that I can't sell him someday.
But I have to say the Dollzone Jake isn't a doll I would buy now. He don't have the style and size I prefer actual.

    4. I would never sell my first doll. :0

    5. I doubt I could ever sell my first doll. I've had problems with it; I don't like the size or the mold that much anymore, the single jointed body feels outdated and I didn't care about the character anymore. But still... it is my first. It has flaws and it's yellowed and I don't think I could get half of the money I paid for it if I sold it. So I've tried building a new character for it.

    6. I don't think I will ever want to sell my first doll, he is one of my favorites (not that I have had too many at all, dolls, not favorites. I love them all). I bought him because I had been contemplating getting a doll for a while, and then I saw him and instantly bonded with him.

    7. That first doll of mine is staying with me as I still like her as much as when I got her. :aangel:

    8. I love all of my dolls, I don't think I could sell any of them. Especially not my first. She's not my most expensive or unique, but she's the one that got me started down this crazy path, and she's special because she's the first I ever opened a box and saw laying there, beautiful, just begging to be picked up.

    9. My first bjd was small and cute but VERY pink! (She had a custom faceup and body painting!!) I bought her second hand. She takes up such little space and when I haven't seen her for awhile as she is in her suitcase, it always brings a smile to my face when I see her peeking out. I have thought about selling her but I got her cheap because no one else apparently liked her and the same thing would probably happen again. So she will stay with me! May be the last one I have in the very end!

    10. My first doll is Aprilstory Olivia.
I love her sculpt but... I really dislike her body, so I might sell her body (one day) but definitely not her head!
But... I have too many floating heads, so I am keeping her body for now.

    11. I think it's like everywhere else in life, you never know... But in any case, the fun times and joy in anticipating, getting to know and develop your first doll's character will make unforgettable memories.

    12. Nope, I am keeping my first boy. I want to do his face up when the company default face up becomes too tired to be kept.

    13. I've sold my first doll. He just didn't fit my aesthetic idea anymore ^^" He is with someone who loves him now :D

    14. I have sold my first doll too. At first I totally loved her and I still like the mold but not that much that I`d like to own it anymore. She was child-like and after the years I just lack the interest. Now I like mature type more and don`t regret of selling her. I know that she went in a good home.:)

    15. I'm in a place where I want to sell my first doll, but haven't yet. I just recently got into the hobby and bought her not really knowing what I wanted and I can't for the life of me bond with her.

    16. The first doll I ever bought was technically my Ringdoll Jack the Ripper, and he was the doll that got me into the hobby., and I'll probably never part with him. The one that carries all the sentimental value was my second doll, my withdoll Cecily. her character is one I've had for so long, and rewritten and changed and rearranged. This character was with me when I was alone in elementary, and when I wrote my first real full-length novel (like 400 pages on paper between grades 6 and 7.) She was in my first bad fanfic, and its sequel. Now she's not quite the same. I gave her more flaws and made her more realistic, but she's the same girl in some ways. I have two other dolls of her (a badly repainted and rerooted Disney fairy doll and a really worn Polly pocket) but this one is going to be perfect.

    17. That would be like trading away your starter Pokemon. No way would I sell/trade my first doll! Sentiment, people, sentiment! <3

    18. I won't sell my first doll, he's too awesome to sell. XD I've had him 10 years now, and I love him as much right this second as I did 10 years ago!

    19. I will definitively keep her, she is my everything!

    20. My first doll was Dollzone Hid, and I sold him before he even got to be around for a full year. When I bought him I just stared at the price mostly, he was on cheaper side and looked cool and I thought that would be enough. Turns out, it wasn't. I did like the character but the doll, not so much. The MSD size was all wrong for me... So I sold him and I haven't regretted a day.
After some years I started to find the kind of dolls I could never part with, one of them - and the first one - is my Soom Heliot, Aed. I could never sell this doll, he is way too dear to me. I usually consider him as my "first doll", because he was the first one I fell in love for real and I can't imagine this doll hobby without him. ♥

I just want to make it clear to you; selling your first doll is alright. Not selling your first doll is also alright. These are your dolls and you can do whatever you want with them. If they do not feel right, sell them. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't do so because "it's your first doll". Just do what makes you happy. :)
