1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. my first doll was a practice head. It's still my practice head. At this point I've done so much to it that I don't think it's in a sellable condition. But that's fine!

    2. I've had four dolls and have sold them all:whee: The two MSD sized dolls, I'd thought I would keep forever, but I slowly became less bonded with both. It scares me because I have incoming dolls and I'm afraid the same thing will happen.

    3. I'm still fairly new to the hobby, having received my first doll this last August, but I can't imagine selling him! He's the sculpt that made me finally dive into the hobby! Customizing him has been a blast and he fits into my over all aesthetic perfectly. I expect there will always be a little Pano tucked into my shelf.

    4. My first doll was from a pretty cheap, new company at the time (that has since been swallowed and merged with a larger company). He was adorable, but he was an SD (because I thought all MSD's were silly and childish back then) and a little too heavy to move around easily, and his face-up was a little chipped out of the box, and all over I had nothing for him to wear or anything. I still have him, but only because I'd like to give him a decent face-up so he has a fighting chance to get sold.

    5. I can see myself selling OT play dolls, but not my Harriet. Some things are too precious to sell.

    6. I have to keep mine. She's damaged and stained from poor storage options. Her wrist is also chipped and gouged from trying to restring her without any experience or proper tools.

    7. YEESSS!! My first doll Chaos is still with me. He's a resinsoul Song and I think even if I ended up in the streets, I won't sell him <3 Even though he is sadistic, ungrateful, bratty and mean, I love him so much! <3

    8. I still have my first doll (dollzone Elsa) and can't imagine I would ever sell her. Next year I am thinking of changing her eyes wig and clothes but she will stay with me.

    9. I've bonded with my first doll so much that I dont think I could ever sell it! The company that makes her doesn't exist anymore so i cant even get any replacement parts from them. Even if she gets broken somehow i'd still keep her!

    10. Brace yourselves: I actually lost my first doll in a frantic move between apartments (with several other things, like a digital camera, super embarrassing) -- I managed to somehow lose tons of things in a few sequential moves, and he was one of the casualties. :eek:Luckily I wasn't terribly attached to him when I lost him, I had several other dolls by that point and I think I managed to misplace him because he was the only doll of mine that was disassembled at the time . Don't get me wrong, it took a couple years for me to stop feeling really guilty for losing him, but so it goes!

    11. I sold my first doll but no gladly sad feelings there~ :kitty2
I like to think selling a doll as rehoming - somone adopting my doll so the idea is always comforting to me when a doll for some reason or other needs to go.

    12. I still have my first doll. I'm still attached to her even though I don't take her out as often as I do with my other dolls.

    13. I still have mine, but I don't really have much interest in him. He was sadly an impulse purchase, but he's cute. I'm hoping I'll be able to bond with him once he gets back from visiting his artist.

    14. I will keep her. I never and WILL never think of ever selling her, the same with my other dolls. :whee:

    15. I will never sell any of my dolls.

    16. I sold my first doll it was nice while it lasted and I don't regret a thing. My taste in sculpts has really changed.

    17. The first doll I bought will probably be with me forever, but the first doll I've had in my possession I'm actually putting up for sale tomorrow. I'm glad I had her because she was a cheaper doll to play around with (I'm still a little scared about playing with my Arubi) but I just don't love her. I'd rather get money to save up for a doll I really adore.

    18. Nope, I sold him ages ago. Didn't even have a character. My second doll I sold too, though the character has been reshelled. While the sculpts were nice, I didn't especially bond with them at all. I can't even remember my first doll's sculpt (though I do remember he was a Luts of some sort)

I understand that some people get really attached to their dolls, but for me it's more about the characters so I don't find it especially difficult to sell a doll if they don't have a character of if I'm reshelling them.

    19. First to be placed an order for, never! He will always stay here no matter what.
The first to arrive home he left years ago as his character grew up and had to be replaced. I could have kept him around, but my love went with him growing up so found him a new home.

    20. I have thought about keeping a head of my first doll and selling her body. I love her sculpt to bits but the way her body is jointed is bugging me too much. I have been looking for a body which is more suitable to my taste and after I manage to find one I'll probably sell her original one. However, I think she'll still be the same old doll even if she had a new body. ^^
