1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do/Did you keep your very first doll? Or will you sell it?

Aug 12, 2009

    1. I got my first BJD when I was around 18. The first doll I got was more of a "practice doll", it was Mewigi from Dollzone. I bought it because the price was reasonable and MSD size seemed to be a good starting point. I sold that doll later, because I starting collecting SD size and the mold did not really appeal to me anymore. It is a cute doll, but I did not really have a character for it.

    2. Never. I did end up selling his body and gave him an upgrade but he is staying forever. :D (Alistair is a ResinSoul Gang)

    3. I chose carefully for my first doll when I first entered the hobby so I would keep it forever! :) I will never sell my first doll. I'll never give it away. I think your first doll would be the most special and it's best to keep forever. Store it away and pull it out to remember the memories!

    4. I probably will sell the first doll I got, but I don't really consider her to be my first doll, because she wasn't the first one I ordered. The first one I ordered who I really think is my first doll in a meaningful sense I doubt I'll sell, I love him lots and his sculpt is discontinued, so I can't imagine selling him.

    5. I sold my first two dolls. An Angel of dream Chi and a Peak's Woods Lady Bee.
I quickly discovered that I prefer somewhat realistic SD's, though I have bought and sold
several MSD's even after realizing my preferences, because they're so cute.:doh;)

I remember watching television in my room with Chi sitting in his box,
I kept looking at him and talking to him and I felt that I really love bjds.:3nodding:

    6. My first doll, a DOD Lahoo, would have been with me for ten years by April this year. I think I may have grown far too attached to him to even want to consider selling him off. I may get a new upgraded body for him from DOD, but that's probably the most I would do.

Although, I did go through a rather difficult period earlier on in the hobby and the thought of selling him did cross my mind. But I quickly dismissed the idea once I started preparing him for sales photos. I just couldn't do it.

Looking back now, I'm really glad I didn't end up going through with that plan. :)

    7. I keep my first doll. I've recently considered getti ng a new head for her simply because it'd suit the character more, but I don't think I'll ever sell her even if I switch out the head

    8. Considering that my first doll was a bit of a hasty purchase, I can definitely say that it made sense that I sold her. My actual first doll (even though I don't really consider her my first anymore) was a Fairyland Minifee Chloe. At the time that I purchased her last year, I was very new to BJDS. I was so excited about getting one that looked cute to me that I didn't fully realize that I had no intention of doing anything with her aside from leaving her on my shelf.

So, months later when I finally realized that I wanted to buy my dolls as "3D versions of my OCs", I knew I had to sell her, as the bond was already fading quickly. That's what I ended up doing, and the doll that I consider my true first doll (one that I've loved from the moment I opened her box), is my Iplehouse Vera :)

    9. I plan not to sell her but yeah slowly she become sort of unwanted child everytime i buy new one or even new clothes XD

    10. No way! I know people say 'never say never', but I'd like to think I'd keep my first doll for sentimental value. It'd be too sad to sell him away :(

    11. I will keep her head sculpt, but I will be selling her body, so... (Honestly, I do not have much use for an MSD, since I mostly focus on SDs and YoSDs - but she's a really pretty sculpt, and she's what got me into this hobby after all. So there~)

    12. I still have my first (and only) doll. I don't really like her that much (I mean, she's never been my favourite sculpt), but I get way too attached to things to sell them so I guess she's here to stay. I'm hoping with a make-over she may be a bit more loveable XD

    13. I bought an old DZ Fei in a seconhand market. He was throughly yellowed, but yellowed evenly. I would keep touching his body because it was my first time feel a resin, which was sooooo smooth! Then I thought he was just an impulse purchase, and I would never be able to get myself to buy clothes, wigs, etc which are so expensive. So I sold him off on eBay.....which I regret very deeply. I will miss that boy A LOT! He had a very gentle expression that I was fond of. I was just...newbie in the hobby making newbie mistakes. I guess if you get something too quickly, it is also easier to get rid of it quickly. I kinda hope to see him up again on eBay so I can purchase him, but I will have no idea of knowing if the doll was the doll that I had. Sigh. Now I have put an order for another DZ boy. This one, I will try to not sell for a very long time, if not never haha

    14. I haven't been in the hobby for a long time but I can't imagine parting with any of my first dolls (I actually ordered Silas first but he hasn't shipped and Faerynne's already here, so I consider them both as my "firsts"). They're a pair and they'd likely be separated if I decide to sell either of them.

Though she was an impulse buy, I've bonded with Faerynne already and I'm enjoying just seeing her around, trying on new styles, etc. Since she isn't double-jointed, her poses are limited and I've got this idea that Silas is going to be the one to help her pose when he gets here. ((: That's why they're a match and will be staying together with me.

    15. Even though I haven't had her very long, I absolutely could not see myself parting with my DC Carol. She is very much my style. She was an impulse in-stock doll from a few weeks ago, however. I placed an order for a DC Agatha at the end of January, and quite frankly she'll probably be up for sale as soon as she gets here. Definitely a hard way to learn that I prefer anthro dolls to humans :XD:

    16. I'm maybe too fresh in this hobby as I haven't had my first doll for a full year yet. But I think I would get too keen on my first and lovely doll to ever sell it. I will probably have her sitting on my bookshelf until I'm a grandma :aangel:

    17. I dont think I could ever bring myself to sell my first doll~ She's so cute, and honestly my favorite doll!

    18. I never had that strong bond with my first doll so im selling her...

    19. I'll definitely keep my first doll. In fact, I'll keep all of them. Personally, I feel that upon receiving my doll, there is this instant connection that is made. I treat my doll as human too, so it would be hard to part with him. ._______.

    20. I have kept her but she has changed character, she is quite yellowed but I really don't mind.
