Do doll owners dream of resin?

I had a dream once about ordering a bjd from a company that doesn't exist in real life - the images from that dream are pretty hazy but I remember they were making very big, like 70cm well-built ladies and gents dolls, not in the usual white/normal resin but instead in a substantial range of rose to purplish tans, quite strong colours and that faces were quite realistic.
When I woke up I actually tried to remember if maybe such a company existed some time ago but even though one might think of iplehouse/granado from the description, I was sure in that dream it wasn't any of them...

 

Gosh, just last night I had a nightmare where I was redoing Minka's faceup and for some reason the watercolor pencils I was using were making huuuge dents in her face and I was just making it worse trying to fix it

When I was taking a break from the hobby I often had dreams where I'd find dolls I didn't remember having in the basement/closet/boxes/wherever or going out to flea markets and seeing really damaged dolls for dirt cheap. In one dream I found a Twigling doll just sitting abandoned in a tree? Of course I picked it up and thought to myself that I'm the luckiest person in the world! Was pretty disappointed to wake up empty handed..
My dreams are often pretty weird and illogical, but at the moment they feel so real to me and I never question the dream logic.

 

I had a dream last night that some little accessories I ordered a while ago finally turned up—they're little kitty ears and collars for the dolls I have who are intended to be catboys :3c
So I was hyped about that and then woke up like AW MAN

Also recently had a dream about coming across one of my nearly-impossible-to-find grails in, like . . a grocery store? Except every time I went to grab him SOMETHING would interfere. I kept accidentally knocking shit over in my FEVERED DESPERATION to get him lmfao. So I was standing amongst all these trays of cakes I'd knocked to the floor feeling embarrassed to death, but I needed . . . my boy . . .
It was also one of those dreams where, like, IN the dream I was thinking to myself 'wow, I can't believe I actually found him and it's not just a dream!'

There've been plenty of other ones, too!
My current antidepressant has this really odd well-know side effect of making dreams both EXTREMELY VIVID and much more memorable after waking up. So oh yeah, there've been plenty of other weird ones I still remember well ahaha.

 

Another dream last night: my DearSDs had a tea party on my kitchen table. I wasn't invited.

 

I’m sorry but this particular dream story made me laugh especially hard. I really do hope you find and get that grail someday, considering the fact that clearly you are willing to reenact Heavy Rain’s hilarious failed chase sequence just to get to your boy!!

 

Sometimes I used to a lot when I was first in the bjd hobby. I had an odd recurring dream of owning a specific doll sculpt that I have no desire to own! My mom wins though because she once had a dream that I threw my favorite doll in a hedge

 

I've had a few doll related dreams over the years, can't remember any that weren't the "suddenly finding dolls in my home I didn't remember I had" kind, though. In those dreams at first I'll be excited because hey, "new" dolls, but then I'll usually notice that they are in desperate need of cleaning/restringing/fixing up and end up being so relieved when I wake up and realize I don't have to do all that work. Already have a bit too much to do with the existing ones, which I'm guessing is at least partially why I see these sorts of dreams to begin with.

 

I've only had a couple a very long time ago (5~10 yrs ago) but they were not strictly about resin BJDs but about Dollfie Dreams (when I used to collect them more heavily). One dream was about a head I had already owned and the other was about a full DD that I had preordered.

In the dream about the head, I believe I was holding it and realized that the face-up had been semi-wiped off and looked horrible. Apparently in the dream, I almost cried because, in reality, I had basically just gotten them back from their face-up being redone by an artist. Relief, I'm sure, washed over me when I realized that it had been a dream.

For the other dream, the DD I preordered was based on an anime I didn't watch but I started to watch parts of it as I waited in anticipation for their arrival. I'm pretty sure it was due to that and me, most likely, checking out their photos every now and again that caused me to have them in my dream. In this particular dream, I had been running from something and ended up running into a office area that was filled with people working in cubicles. I ended up hiding in one of the empty cubicles by crawling to get to it (so my pursuer couldn't as easily see me, I assume) and ended up seeing their character looking like they were semi-real/human, yet semi-anime. They ended up dropping something, and I ended up asking their name aloud in kind of disbelief that they were actually real/there. They responded by giving me a silent but sweet approving smile in my direction and then I woke up. Definitely made me that much more excited to get them after that. They are certainly one of the DDs I regret letting go of and maybe one day, will repurchase if I get the chance.

 

My last dream about bjd is on 26 January this year (I have a habit of writing dream's diary)

In my dream, I went to a mysterious doll cafe, where they put many bjd from various companies on display. I even happen to found a doll I once interesting but found out that the company had closed their pre-order of long. And the owner of that cafe did offer sell that doll head in tan skin to me (And yes, only head, she said that she will keep the body )

Well... I accept that offer before woked up... Now I wish the company will re-open pre-ore of this doll soon

I have other weird dream about doll from time to time, one included the journey over the seas (literally, on an old ship) to find a phantom island and beg the craft man there for making me a pair of doll shoes

 

Occasionally I've had dreams that my dolls were in, but they've never been a major part of the dream. Plus they do not move on their own, or anything like that. They're just incidental objects. :-/

Surprisingly, I don't think I've ever dreamt about my dolls! Maybe I did when I was younger, and I just don't remember? But I haven't recently, in the past 2 years, since returning to the hobby after a long hiatus.

 

Hehe, I just had a doll dream last night!

It wasn't about any doll I owned. Rather, apparently I'd built a collection of YoSD size dolls (I don't collect them) and was looking to sell because I didn't play with them. There were a couple I'd offered to dye with purchase, but couldn't remember what color, and I'd somehow lost my document showing which had been sold and which hadn't. Anyhow, I get in contact with someone near me who bought... some number of dolls? Possibly one of the to-dye ones? And I'm scrambling to get everything together and bring one Pukifee to the meetup, planning to ask what exactly he bought since I lost my document.

Then the world ended and there was an alien invasion, so hey, at least I didn't have to deal with that awkwardness!

 

I haven't dreamed about dolls lately... but I did dream about Den of Angels! It was in the middle of an unrelated dream, I decided to check DoA and saw that I had 9 alerts. I thought to myself "9 alerts?? what is going on??" and then went on with my day

 

If you'll forgive the double post: I've been dreaming a lot about finding/buying crafting materials for my doll(s?).

A few weeks ago I dreamed that I found some lovely chiffon fabric for very cheap. I was so happy! ...until I remembered that fabrics bought in a dream wouldn't be there when I woke up Then last night I dreamed I was at an antique store, where I kept finding little gems and bottles and jewelry boxes which would be great as doll props. I guess in the dream I was planning some sort of witch/sorceress bjd, because I kept saying "this would look so cool as a potion bottle!"

 

Update about my dream last time. I did eventually found someone who willing to sell that sculpt to me, I got her as a full doll though

My latest dream about doll is a little weird again, however... I dreamt about a doll that disguise as a cat.

In my dream I was about to adopt a cat from pet shelter, a grey tabby cat which is very cute among them try to appeal itself to me so I keep him for consideration (Why in the world can I know it's a male cat... is also mysterious) And it's turns out that cat can transform into a male bjd with [no.41] engraved inside his head, and he speak to me in tone of 'well, you picked me by yourself, you have no choice now'

He then turn back to be a tabby cat and I was in the middle of contemplation about wether I can keep a fake cat as pet, or this will against the law ... Before I waked up.

Maybe I will custom a doll with a cat vibe face someday to remind me of this dream. Idk

 

haha this has happened a few times. Usually i'm at an estate sale and there are dolls. its so exciting and then i wake up

 

I feel like many of my doll dreams are nightmares, unfortunately! I have 5 70 cm boys that stand on a bookshelf, so I have a lot of nightmares where they fall... or nightmares where I lose them somewhere... or nightmares where a little kid is playing with them and breaks them... I even once had a dream that I was going on vacation and my doll fell out of the plane. That was shortly after I studied abroad with one of my dolls, so maybe that's why? He never fell out of a plane, though! I rarely remember good dreams, though, I only really remember nightmares. So maybe I do have good doll dreams sometimes!

 

During the wait for my doll I had a dream where I received her but she was not the one I ordered, with a strange faceup, and she was cracked all over. I remember her face was like the shell of a hard boiled egg, with tiny cracks that would yield when you pushed with a finger.
I was heartbroken but when I thought I'd have to ship her back I knew she'd get trashed, and I felt so bad about it I decided to keep her.

 

I often remember my dreams and they have varying levels of lucidity. I recall dreaming that my preorder had arrived and I was most pleased with the resin shade. Then I woke up doll-less...

 

I don't recall most of my dreams that well, but lately I noticed the bits and parts I do remember are about my dolls that randomly show up in them. The funniest one was where I was arguing with my boss that they needed to pay me more so I could afford a doll I considered a grail. Probably not a argument that would work in reality!
