Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Do you bring your dolls to work?

Mar 27, 2011

    1. I have brought a full doll to work once because a couple co-workers were curious about them. And I've brought a couple heads with me so I could ship them off to be painted and I brought them in to keep them out of the heat they would have been in if left in my car.
      But other than that, no.

    2. Back at the previous store I worked at, I did bring one in once to show a curious co-worker (it spent the rest of the time locked away in my locker), and a head changed hands back and forth for a faceup there once, too. At the current store, I've never done that, but I did show one of the managers some photos of a recent order, because he was curious.

For my desk-job internship, I did bring a shipper in once, because I had to run a midday errand that took me near the post office, so I picked her up, then brought the box inside when I got back so it wouldn't be left in the hot car. But no "unwrapped" dolls have ever been here.

    3. Well, no. I don't have a particularly artistic career path and I want my coworkers to view me as a professional. I feel like plopping a doll on the front desk probably won't convey that image. Even if that weren't the case and we were all kind of quirky, there's no safe place for a doll in an animal clinic!

    4. I work at home. But even then I keep my dolls in the cabinet to keep them safe during the day.

    5. I don't have a full time job yet because I am still a student so sometimes my friends and I will have little "Bring your doll to school" days. Usually people are very interested and ask me lots of questions about my doll. I haven't gotten many bad reactions, thankfully.

    6. it is very interesting reading everyone's thoughts on this. I have never taken any of my dolls into work. My colleagues wouldn't understand it and I would worry they would get damaged by someone knocking them (probably me) but in the right setting I think it would be lovely to do

    7. My 'work' is school, and there is no way I would dream of bringing my doll to school. I envy all of you who have the courage to bring your dolls into the public! Waay too scared of being laughed at, since I'm 'too old' for dolls.

    8. I dream of getting a job in which I can bring a doll to work since they destress me so much lol but right now my job would make it impossible as I'm constantly moving from one place to another in the building and I have no station dedicated just to me.

    9. Once I brought my doll to office cause my friend wanted to see it, so some of my collegues also asked me to show them. Most of them found it scary, called it woodoo doll XD And some of course said why don't I have a baby instead of doll. Still wondering what is similar between a baby and 70+ minimee)))

    10. When I was the stockroom supervisor of a store, I brought one of my SDCs with me once. She sat on my desk, it was pretty fun.

Now I'm a graphic designer and I've brought my Bunny Nine once. I have a shelf above my desk that she sat on for most of the day. I think it's fun to bring one along every once in a while n_n

    11. I had my dolls at work (in an office) once, but they stayed safe in their doll-bags. co-workers asked, what instrument could be in this bag ^-^ i just brought them because i wanted to take photos after work ^-^

Now I'm working at a gothic-store and "strange hobbies" aren't so unusual. My both co-workers know my strange hobby and they are very curious xD

But I would never bring a doll to work just for "having it with me and watching me". It's unneccessary weight and bags (i don't have a car) and I'm afraid somethig bad could happen (doll falls from desk, somebody touches it unallowed and stuff...)

    12. At the moment, I'm working at an art gallery, but dolls aren't really relevant unless you count one artwork we have from Hans Bellmer. Since we are very small-staffed and I spend part of the work day alone, I can see myself bringing in a doll for fun at times. I only have MSDs right now, so they're not as portable as Yo-SDs (I'm hoping to acquire one in the future).

    13. I think it depends on the job. I'm out of a job right now, but when since I tend to have jobs that involve working with plants, I probably wouldn't dare to bring one with me. But if even if I had a desk job or something similar, I doubt I would bring mine. I have a problem with my coworkers taking me seriously as it is, I'm really short and little, I look like a child, sound like a child, so bringing a doll into work would only further them treating me as a child.

    14. Most of my dolls are too big, all SD size so I wouldn't bring them to work honestly. But in a few months I'll have a tiny 1/12 bjd which I might bring to work from time to time, will have to see about that.

    15. I have brought my dolls to work once and only because there was a doll meet after work. Now that I'm down to one tiny, I'm considering to bring him to work but am worried that I might forget to bring him home -_- yes, I'm very forgetful.

    16. I work in a mall, so bringing a doll is just a no-no all around. They'd just be stuck in my locker while I ran around as a salesperson! Additionally, I look a lot like a child and have trouble being seen as an adult even among coworkers who like me, so bringing in a doll wouldn't help. On one occasion I did have to store one in our backroom because I had picked it up from the post office at lunch, but even then it was in it's box and I just told my manager that it was a collectible figurine! :|

I'm totally envious of people who work desk jobs and can bring their dolls in though. I think smaller dolls would be a cute decoration!

    17. Oh definitely not! I work as a cashier, and between the customers and kids, it's absolutely not worth the risk.

    18. I wouldn't bring them to my work... maybe a tiny one to take some pictures outside in my breaktime... but between all the toddlers! No, no, no!

    19. I work at a dog kennel/boarding facility. The answer is a massive, resounding no. Just the thought makes me uneasy. Dogs, especially somewhat bored dogs, are hella destructive.

    20. .... I can sing a song about that. :aeyepop:
My parents dogs found a hand of my Mnf Eliya and ate some fingers of her hand.*cry*

I was glad I had some hands in reserve, but thatbwas realy annoying! :sigh
