1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you bring your dolls to work?

Mar 27, 2011

    1. I have thought about it since I work night shift, but because I work in a residential facility with troubled teenagers, I wouldn't dare.

    2. I am a stay at home mom. If I was able to work and the environment would be safe I would definitely take one of my dolls with me. I have taken dolls with me to see movies at the theaters, out to lunch/dinner and sometimes when I go out shopping. Often when my daughter and I are planning something she asks if we are going to take dolls to.

    3. I'm a nanny to a 4yr old and a 1yr old... Bringing my doll to work with me is a no go. At least until the baby is old enough to not touch things... :/

    4. I wish I had a job where I could bring my dolls. I guess I could bring them...but they'd sit in my purse all alone in the back room and it wouldn't be very fun.

    5. No way. <_< I work in a university Career Services office, and once I get my license I'll be a counselor. Much as I love my babies, I know some people are deeply unsettled by dolls. It's one thing to have them in my own home, it's quite another to bring them where they're not expected, most of the time. SOMETIMES I bring one to the comic book store where I work part-time, but only if my best friend is there.

    6. A tiny would be ok but I would keep it hidden and just sneak a peak :-)
Like our secret. I don't think it's a good idea to mix work with dolls. I don't want people to peg me as anything in their head. Another thing is I would not want anyone touching my doll because none doll people tend to think they can touch faceups. I don't feel the work place is the right place to educate on doll topics. I guess if your work was like family it would be totally different.

    7. I work from home so I have them on my desk so I can see them and appreciate them everyday. If I worked in an office or a stationary job at a place where I had my own space I would bring them, but not leave them overnight or over lunch. I brought my MSD Boy (Dollzone Hid) to my pattern making class once when I was in school. I had been missing him and wanted him to come with me. Everyone was respectful and I made sure to ask people who came up to me to ask questions about him not to touch him. It made me a little nervous but I'm someone who handles my dolls frequently. They are precious but to me they are things meant to be touched and handled and taken out in the world. I don't keep them locked away, they are always on display in my home.

    8. Absolutely not. I don't like giving people a reason to make fun of me or my hobbies.

    9. Nope! Honestly the thought didn't even occur to me. One reason is that I work in a laboratory, and I handle dangerous bacteria, so touching them while I work could contaminate them and end up with them spreading diseases everywhere. If I had an office job I might bring one to decorate my desk, but as it is there is no reason why I would take them there.

    10. I work at Wal-Mart and all my co-workers know about my dolls but I've only brought her head before. When i get my tiny i will keep her with me just in my locker. The deli is no place for a baby.

    11. I'm a stay-at-home mom, so technically yes, my dolls are always with me at work. :XD:

I used to work in a call center and I did decorate my cubicle with small figures.
If I ever work again in an office setting I'll probably bring a YoSD or two to sit on my desk with me.

    12. I do have mine at work occasionally, but I work in Animation so its a very creative group.

    13. Im gonna get my first job ever soon, and i want to bring my smallest doll im getting with me. She can fit in a big pocket i think. I dont know what it is, but itd be nice knowing that if my house ever exploded donnie darko style id have one doll with me i guess lmao

    14. Frequently

I sometimes post a thread of "On my desk at work today" shots on another doll forum.

Sometimes they visit colleagues in other offices or hang out in the staff break room at lunchtime, but usually they just sit on my desk. Sometimes I bring several tinies (all four of the LittleFee and the LittleFee Baby, for example) and they scramble over everything - monitor, computer-box, telephone, desk dividers):

    15. I like to keep my doll near me, when I work. But I would never bring mine to work. I need to feel safe about mine belongings. Moreover, I would want to look like a dependable professional, not like someone who can't see the difference between job and personal life.

    16. @Swampruler - that's a good thought. I work in IT with a bunch of tech guys and would never bring something to work. They know about my dolls since my boss has cut wood for me that I've needed to build the coffins my dolls sleep in. And it would be totally safe here. But while they know about it, like you I keep a separation between my work life and my personal life. I've never really thought about it as you've put it, but yep, that's the general idea. It's one thing for people to know about your hobbies, it's another to see them.

    17. I have my RD K here today. I will bring dolls to work so I can take quick (boring) pictures of them, but then they mostly stay in the bag until lunch. I have a lot of white walls and various background objects plus bright lights and an hour for lunch. If they do sit on my desk no one really notices. My office isn't exactly organized....

    18. My coworkers are actually super interested in my dolls and fawn over them when I bring them XD I even had one of my coworkers (and the student) offer to buy one of my cat dolls!!! (I said no of course, but said if they wanted to buy a blank one, i'd make the faceup look just like my doll)

    19. A couple of times, yes. I'm in the media line, so my photographers were intrigued by them (though they did think it was a bit scary).

Another colleague sort of made fun of my hobby, but kept touching my doll. I was pretty unhappy about that, so I haven't ever brought them to work after that.

    20. I work from home, so my dolls are with me, in my bedroom, where I see them all the time. I do have the little ones on my desk to keep me company though. They cheer me on, keep working so you can buy us stuff....
