1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you bring your dolls to work?

Mar 27, 2011

    1. No.
      1. I hide dolls from the sun.
      2. I don't like if someone touch my doll.
      3. It's no good for my business image.

    2. Nope. I'm an elementary school teacher, and they would be so incredibly distracting to everyone involved. XD I have brought a little one in to show my coworker who was interested in them, but she was carefully packed away until all the kids were gone. :XD:

    3. I definitely do and keep them on display so everyone can see. Cooworkers usually stop by and compliment my new additions :)

    4. I posted on the previous page, but have an update. I took my doll (and an off topic one) to work to show my boss and the 4 year old. My boss now has the idea that I'm going to bring my dolls over to play dolls with her child. She even went out and bought her child one of the big monster high dolls and intends for me to make clothes for it like I do my msd.

I just wanted to show my hobby and crafting skills since I would bring sewing to work. Now it seems I'm supposed to play dolls with my not-that-kind-of-doll doll. :doh Don't take dolls to show to parents whose children you watch! Lesson learned lol.

    5. I would not. My coworkers are mean and judgmental and make fun of literally anything and everything. Also, I don't want people to touch my dolls. @___@

    6. My coworkers know I'm eccentric, but I'm not sure a half naked Nature Goddess in my office would be the pinnacle of professionalism. But then again, I've got so many other pieces that represent nature that I don't know if it would even be a big deal. Squirrels, Puzzles, Metal Trees, Faux Flowers, Real Plants, Natural Wreaths, etc..

But maybe I'll wait until I get that promotion...

    7. Definitely not. I teach third grade, and not only would it be distracting, each one of them would want to touch her. :shudder Some of those fingers have recently been up noses!

    8. I happily play dolls with friends children - My best friend's daughter took one of my Petite Ai home with her once when she was a toddler, I got the doll back the next time I babysat.

    9. See, I've had bad experiences lending things out. I'm more worried about the animals, the baby, and the other kids who come to visit messing my poor girl up.

That being said, I'll play with the barbies for a few hours. I generally get delegated to prince duty. Lol

That was sweet of you to let her take your doll. I would have been frazzled lol.

    10. I work in a library. The library has plenty of places to put Johnny for the day, and I even have a few patrons that are dying to meet him. But I don't dare bring him. I'm too afraid that he'll get stolen or fall off the shelf or be a big distraction. So I leave him at home and browse Etsy for doll clothes during the down time.

    11. I work at a fashion designer house, but I'm not sure bringing my doll is a good idea because I don't like it when people touch my doll (I'm afraid they will touch it without care because nobody in my office know BJD at all).
Besides, all of my co-workers called me freak when I showed them my doll's picture. I can figure how they would react if I bring my doll and display it on my desk.

    12. I wouldn't just because I wouldn't want anything to happen to them or anyone touching them, etc. I just don't think I would be able to find a safe spot to put them

    13. I would never bring mine to work because it is not professional or appropriate for my field of work, or beneficial for my 'personal brand'. I think it's great to have a hobby that you are passionate about, but work is not the place to be showing them off.
If my employees/employer brought in their hobbies to work I would just see it as a distraction & wouldn't be able to take them seriously.

    14. I would love to be able to bring my pukipuki sized doll with me to work. She is so tiny and cute -- she would really keep me motivated! I haven't yet only because I don't want my co-workers to think I am insane. A positive work environment is very important to my work culture. The days I work from home though are a completely different story!

    15. It would be dangerous. So I will bring them to work only if I am owning a campany:whee:

    16. I've brought my little 15 cm doll bjd with me this whole week to my office. I sat her on my desk. I hate my job. I hate it. And this week was very hard. And it was so nice to have her there. Basically most people don't even see me as anything but a weirdo anyway. So they aren't shocked by my dolls much. Or if they are they don't say anything! So plus plus! I generally like to use my lunch break to do something other than eat lunch. Sometimes I make doll clothes or fur wigs so I bring a doll body or something I can measure things with. But never anything really big. If it can't fit in my work bag it can't come with me.

    17. I work in an IT field and they're lax on dress code and whatever as long as work gets done... so I have on occasion brought a doll in to show an interested co-worker. I keep a few cute things at my desk in general like a couple of Nendoroids but in general I rarely bring the dolls.

    18. I never did unless I had something to specifically show someone.

    19. I never take my dolls to work just to share, but some years back when I worked for a toy company I had two of my dolls in my office on back shelf along with some other decor.

    20. Oh, definitely not! I work in a lab and even if I could make absolutely, 100% sure I wouldn't transfer any nasties like nitric acid or something onto them, I can't be sure that some of the gross smells wouldn't seep into their clothes and resin. I have been considering on and off if I should take some things up there and learn to embroider for their outfits, but I'm too scared of the fabric starting to smell bad. Plus I have no idea when I go in if I'll have a slow day or night or be super busy, and I couldn't bring anything while working during the weekdays no matter what.
