1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you bring your dolls to work?

Mar 27, 2011

    1. I have a new job now (woo!) in an office where it wouldn't be a problem to have a doll on my desk. I don't think I would, though. It's too sunny for one (omg, windows. After working in a vault, it's lovely). Other people have desk decorations/little toys (I have a tiny Batman) so I don't think it would be inappropriate... I dunno. Don't think I would. XD;

    2. Before I retired (WOO HOO on that!) I did have dolls at work a lot, cause I have a PO box & the post office is right across the street from my old office. So I opened a lot of doll boxes in my office, then of course showed them around. I did bring dolls from time to time (per request, often) - & yes, got comments. HOWEVER, you have to understand how snarky I can be (in a nice, Southern lady way, mind) - I laughed at those silly comments & mostly it was good natured anyway. I'm really not a sensitive soul LOL Some people were genuinely creeped out by my dolls, others just LOVED them! My photo books from Shutterfly (how I do my photo stories) went over VERY well :D

    3. I work in a lab, so, no. I wouldn't want to expose them to all those chemicals. Plus it would be against safety regulations to have something in the lab that hasn't been sprayed with ethanol to disinfect it. Though it would be cute to dress them in tiny goggles and lab coats and let them do science. LOL!

    4. Definitely not! :o I'm a primary school language teacher so I'm always working with children of different ages. With around 360 different students coming into my classroom throughout the week there is no way I'd bring one of my dollies to work. I've already had my drink bottle and other classroom items damaged by students who were throwing a tantrum or fighting so I wouldn't want something as precious and valuable as one of my dolls at work.

    5. I did a few times back in my office job, but never to my retail job. It was really fun having a buddy in my cubicle, but I couldn't do it often because a coworker was terrified of them.

    6. If I had a little Yo I might…but I have big SD boys. I brought in my only 47cm boy once and it didn't go over so well. I have a good sized desk so having one of my guys hang out with me as a bit of a diversion to my stressful job would be awesome.

    7. Nope haha, i wouldn't dare bring my doll with me to work. x'D

    8. I work in retail and I don't think my coworkers would be very open to the idea of them being around. If I had an office job I'd consider it but I think it would depend how comfortable I would be with the people before sharing my personal life with them.

    9. I did bring my YOSD to work one day, but it was a weekend and it was only because a colleague wanted to have a look at him as she was interested to buy a BJD for herself. When I have my own studio, I'll definitely bring one or two to work and just have them sit by the desk or something, but where I'm at right now, I just don't have the time to be talking about dolls at my workplace and I think having to answer questions about them would get tiring as I tend to meet a lot of different people during the day.

There used to be a thread where people would post pictures of their dolls at their workplace! I wonder if it's still active... That was a really fun thread.

    10. I did in my previous job but in the end i couldnt being myself to get her out of the bag. Main reason was my ex bosses younger son being in the building..

    11. I'll never do that. BJD are a hobby. Hobbies and work are two different things that can't be mixed to me. Unless you work in a BJD company/shop/cafe, your dolls have nothing to do with you at work.

    12. Haha,i ofen do that!It makes me fell delighted!

    13. Since I work in an office, I can bring my small dolls to work and craft things for them on my downtime. My MSD though, she's gotta stay at home for now haha.

    14. I would never take my dolls to work. I work at a salad place where I make salads, sandwiches, etc. So technically fast food. I can't imagine bringing my dolls there *_*. There's nowhere I would feel safe putting them.

    15. I could since I have a locker at work but that's all they'd ever see. >-< My manager doesn't like us bringing a bottle of water out onto the floor when we work, I doubt they'd be thrilled with me carrying a doll around all day. Plus so many grabby little children. I couldn't deal with it.

    16. Yes, I do. And she's being adored by everyone (that fame whore doll ugh hahahaha). I carry her on her case and voila, let's go roam roam roam!

    17. I've brought my Pukifee to work since I got her last Tuesday. I like her to hang around my desk cause she keeps my morale up. I think it's great to bring your doll along to have that output at work. Especially if they're small.

    18. If I had a tiny doll, I would probably take it to work and sit him/her on my desk! Currently I have a tiny godzilla on there - but work wouldn't have a problem with it att! I work in the complaints department (by myself!) and I think they pretty much let me do whatever makes me happy because no one wants to be roped into helping me! :')

    19. I don't work any more, cuz I'm retired, but if I still worked there is no way I would take a doll to work. First of all I would be afraid it would get handled and mistreated by co-workers who didn't respect my hobby, and secondly I don't think my boss would have appreciated it. She would have thought I wasn't taking my job seriously if I brought "toys" with me to work. I KNOW that's how she would have seen it.

    20. No.. i work at a preschool .. they would break!
