Do you celebrate your dolls birthday?

I can only remember the years my girls come home so there is no way I would even remember their "birthday". So its a no for me.

 

So do your dolls have birthdays?
Yes, I'm getting my new doll in a month and the date that she arrives will be her bday.
Do you Celebrate them?
This year I will, but idk about next year bcs of the lack of time next year. It really depends on my schedule.
Do you get your dolls gifts?
No, but I'm considering baking cupcakes and inviting my friends over.
And if they have a backstory does their characters age change on their birthday as well?
I don't think so, no.

 

I also keep track of all my doll's birthdays on my computer, I consider their arrival day as their birthday I do celebrate their b-day's with photos and sometimes gifts, although I have three who have their b-day in September.... so their gifts are limited hahaha....

Yes, I'd even made note of the date she arrived in with her other 'vital statistics' so I'd remember when it was.

I haven't had a chance to yet but I am contemplating doing at least something like getting something to wrap up for her and do a small photo shoot of her 'birthday' the day of.

I haven't yet... but I'm thinking about it.

Yeah, I think it probably would. She's theoretically immortal (being a fairy) so there's no reason for her age not to change. What's one more year?

 

This is a pretty interesting thread to me, seeing as in a few weeks it will be exactly one year since I got my first doll. I'll probably do a cute little photoshoot or something but nothing too fancy. Classes have started up again and there goes all my free time...

It's an endearing sentiment, but I'm not sure if I can remember to keep up in a few years time. Truth be told I can hardly remember the birthdays of... Anyone or anything... >3>;

 

Yup I do! Since I only have one doll it's pretty easy for me :3 I even celebrate months!

 

That sounds super-cute! But I could see how it would be a logistical problem if you have a large collection.

 

I cannot even remember my girl's birthday even though she arrived just a couple of months ago. I like to consider my dolls ageless and birthday does not really fit to that concept. So no, I don't celebrate doll birthdays.

 

I've only had mine for a bit over a month, so I can't really say I've considered the idea yet.

 

Sadly I don't, because like many others in this thread, I don't remember their arrival dates.

 

I don't have birthdays or specific ages assigned to my dolls' characters, and as for using their arrival dates as a birthday? That's a no as well, since I literally can't remember all of those specific dates and don't keep track of them. I know my first doll arrived within a day or so of my birthday in 2013, so I generally use my own birthday as a vague sort of "hobby anniversary", but I don't really observe that in any special way either. I remember that my April Story girl arrived in April of 2014, when they did that "discontinuing all our sculpts" 40% off clearance event sale and offered a 1-week turnaround time. She literally did arrive a week after I ordered. It was amazing... but I still don't recall the exact day. The only one I do know the exact day of arrival for is Margo, my Impldoll Azalea. And that's just because after a very long layaway, she unexpectedly and unannouncedly showed up on Valentines Day last year and I remember being like "eh.... I'll open this later" because I was busy hanging out with my husband. So her arrival was memorably super anti-climactic.
Also, 3 of my 6 dolls have arrived in separate pieces (head/body) so I am not sure how you would even determine an arrival date for that?
In short: no, I don't really commemorate any special dates at all involving my doll hobby.

 

When I first started on the hobby I saw a lot of people celebrating their dolls' birthdays (as the dates they arrived to their homes) and I really said to myself that I will celebrate the ones of my dolls. But time has proved that don't really remember the exact dates and I don't really feel the need to celebrate a special day for my dolls.
Besides that, my dolls have their date of birth in their stories, and when I finally start making photo-stories (I hope this year will be my year) they will make a small and familiar celebration.

 

I really use to want to, i honestly only remember when I got one of them because it was the day before my Husband proposed to me, lol, but honestly I always wanted to have a photo story birthday

 

I got my doll partially: 1st was head, then was body, which was changed later. So I cannot say that the character is born finally, but someday I may celebrate his Bday just to have a nice photostory with a cake and candles

 

No-- I couldn't possibly remember which day they came home. I don't even celebrate my pets' birthdays.

 

I do it for some of them when I remember. My oldest doll is the one I really remember it for, because I've had him for eight years now so the anniversary is easier to remember than some of the newer ones!

 

Nadeko doesn't have a birthday so no, I don't celebrate it
but I do celebrate her arrival day by taking pictures (last year was the first year she got a gift so usually there are no presents)
Nadeko doesn't have a set backstory (and thus no set age either) so if I ever came up with one then I think she would age every year

 

I celebrate my dollies' birthdays on the day they arrived. I got my first BJD as a gift on my birthday, so that day is easy to remember lol. I usually make new clothes for them and give them a cake-shaped eraser to celebrate.

 

The dates of arrivals are the birthday dates for my BJDs/floating heads. It is usually their naming day as well. I don't celebrate their birthdays because, apart from one month in the year, every month would see a birthday celebration!
