It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Do you collect furniture/props or room settings for your dolls??

Oct 15, 2008

    1. I have two permanent diorama set ups with extensive pieces of furniture. They're for a mature tiny and a YoSD so they're actually pretty small which is nice. I used to have a set-up for MSD dolls but that had to go away due to space and I'm tempted to rehome some of those pieces, especially the American Girl/Our Generation sized stuff. I just don't have the room anymore to display them so they're just sitting in my closet. :sweat

    2. I’m really tied, maybe? Sometimes I feel like it but other times I don’t, however I do like doll beds, maybe I’ll start liking doll furniture if I try some out and actually get some!

    3. I'd love to get them seats, like nice couches! I'll probably settle on cat furniture. The problem is that BJD furniture can be sooooo expensive... Maybe learning how to make it would be good, too.

    4. I really like doll miniatures and things proportional to the doll's height.
Because I often move, I put off my dream of building a diorama.
Once, I was deeply impressed by a very detailed doll's house of another bjd owner, and I still won't make something close to this level of detail.
I find cool pieces of furniture or realistic toy utensils at vintage markets, I also discovered that you can use pet furniture and some things from IKEA that look great with proper customization!
Ideally, I would like to master 3D printing.

    5. I started with a room box which now has grown into a 5 rooms 1/3 doll house. I begin searching like crazy for salesman furniture on eBay and going to antique markets but some
Things I had to make myself as my dolls house is in Victorian style. IMG_7247

and yes you ended up with a ton of props !

    6. When I had a house and space for displays I did, but not now. I'm really wishing for chairs at least so I can do better photos but it's not a priority right now...

    7. Having a doll house setup for my dolls is something I've dreamed of since I got into this hobby, but I've never had the space for it, especially these days (living in a smaller apartment, my dolls are currently living in their boxes under my bed ) and it's a bit hard to pull off since I only have SDs and larger dolls. The most I've gotten in terms of doll furniture is a couch prop that mostly sits on a shelf too small to fit a doll on it as well.

    8. I have a lot of wood furniture pieces that can be taken apart and put together for differnt settings, I have a large sofa, and a lot of furniture that I buy from just regular stores, the MyLife As/Our Generation/American Girl stuff can work on both 1/4 and 1/3 dolls. You can lift up counters and stuff with small wooden crates to fit the larger dolls. I also keep a look out for doll furniture at thrift stores and estate sales. I buy lots of canvas backgrounds as well, this helps to change the setting and place of the photo shoot.

My dolls have more of a studio then an actual diorama. I don't have room to keep up a full SD diorama. I tried it for awhile with the 1/4 dolls when I first got into the hobby and got tired of stepping around it I can't imagine what it would be like now that I am into bigger dolls! With the studio I can pull stuff out as needed and then pack it back up, dolls go back on the shelf and everything stays tidy, sort of. The crates to store stuff in and the lights and canvases are still around cluttering, but not as much as a full diorama would.

I would love a room just for the dolls, divided into sections where at least each of their separate living rooms could be permanent, it would be nice to have that. I need a bigger house. :XD:

    9. Not really, the only miniature furniture in the house are for my son's action figures 1:12 and his Playmobil and Lego sets , I don't really do photoshoots and even if I take pics of a doll I don't photo like it's a person just snap a pic of a pretty dolls so I don't really need sets or dioramas.

    10. I don't have any furniture but I was lucky enough to find a perfect sized kids tea set out shopping once. It was at a discount warehouse and I got it for a good deal too! Although it'd be best I get some chairs and a table so they can have a proper tea party :)

    11. I wish I could find some but it seems like the pieces I like are no longer made or people won't disclose where they got them. It's a struggle to find nice modern style things, everything that looks a nice quality is antique/Victorian looking or too small for 60cm+

    12. I love love love finding small items while thrifting that are perfect size for dolls! I have acquired a random collection of items that are great as background items for photos :3nodding:

    13. At one point & time I thought it was necessary to have all these various doll props & doll houses. Nowadays since I own various doll sizes I can’t find a house who scale works for all of them & I am too lazy to keep setting up various scenes to take a picture. Instead I keep a collection of small different sized props that will add to whatever scene I find my dolls being photographed in. Definitely a lot easier and manageable for me.

    14. I don't prioritize furniture or props for my dolls right now, just because I don't have space for any kind of dollhouse/diorama setup so it seems a bit pointless. I bought one wooden chair from Mandarake on a whim without knowing the exact measurements, and it turned out too small for my 1/3... hopefully it fits my 1/4 when she gets here. I have some chairs and tables for my smaller, off-topic dolls. Other than that, I don't own doll furniture, and am unlikely to buy any until I actually have space for it.

Someday, if I ever have my own house, I'd love to have a dedicated doll room (or hybrid doll/craft room)... then I'd look for furniture and props to display and photograph my dolls with :love

    15. I don’t have room for a msd sized doll house, but I do want to get more furniture etc. I just got a mini table/bench, picnic table, fancy wood pallet thing, and some fake turf and fake deck paneling from Daiso. I want to make some mini couches and things too. My guy just normally sits in a dark corner of my room when I’m not doing things with him, so I’m mostly interested in furniture for photography props.

    16. Do have some but you know.… the price for the space they occupy is much more expensive than the furniture

    17. I do have four little room boxes for my smallest 1/12 guys, and I have various chairs and bean bags as well as small props like food, drinks, phones etc. primarily for photos and such.
Currently I don't have the space for permanent room boxes for the bigger scales, but I do plan to make a collapsible room box in which I can get creative with furniture or to have a handy corner for pictures.

    18. I'm not much into dioramas, but I lucked out finding a 1/3-scale couch on my country's local equivalent of Craigslist/online classifieds. It's a fantastic centrepiece, so I'm thinking of gathering a few more pieces of in-scale furniture to go around it. (And I now have too many dolls to all fit on that couch, so they can use more seating. :XD:)

Aside from furniture, I like having a few props for my dolls that they can interact with, like weapons, books, and games - especially ones that are specific for the characters. I'll probably have to (learn to) make most of them, since I want things like chopsticks, art brushes, board and card games.

    19. I do tend to enjoy collecting furniture/props for my dolls. I even bought a few patterns to make my own. Right now, I'm making a 1/4 chair. I like to use props to set my dolls up in various scenes to display.

    20. I wouldn't say I collect furniture or props for them, but funnily enough, once my mother got past the strangeness of her adult child collecting dolls again after giving them up, she always finds cute miniatures and things to show me. So I have a small collection of wildly out-of-scale miniatures she gave me because they were too cute to leave behind, including a set of wooden mixing bowls she found in my grandmother's crafting supplies. Now I find myself looking at the dollhouse miniatures every time I'm in the crafts store, seeing if I can find a few pieces that would work for my dolls, even a little bit oversized (It's difficult to explain, but my BJDs are odd scales and the ones I currently own are small for their age/species anyway, so slightly oversized miniatures are actually ideal.)
