Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Do you collect furniture/props or room settings for your dolls??

Oct 15, 2008

    1. So facinating! Anyway, I thought I would chip in here as one of my major inspirations that led me into this whole BJD thing was my plans for a fairy garden of sorts. I wasn't sure about the scale or how I would go about it until finding the BJD's. I had started with wanted to make poseable forest people; elves, fairies, etc. which led me to googling jointed puppets and eventually to BJD's. Now I'm diving right in and have been sculpting heads, and I just ordered a doll yesterday (it was a relatively cheap one I'm sorry to say, but just getting my feet wet).
As far as the garden plans, now that I have a doll on the way I can start mapping out the garden for him. The plan is to have an entire parklike/village setting all scaled to my dolls. So far I have a site picked out on my property and will be digging a stream/waterfall and building a bridge and gazebo. Winter will be here shortly (Northern Michigan) so I won't be able to get a whole lot done. I'll have to spend the winter learning to make dolls and building furniture and stuff.

      Big dreams...wittle bitty checkbook!

    2. Wow, your garden sounds like fun! There are so many possibilites available with your garden, such as the trees available in the garden sections, etc.

I have found some more furniture, a vintage doll bed with canopy. I'm excited when it will finally arrive.

    3. I would like to do that one day. first, I kind of want to develope my dolls into characters first. that way I can put together a proper setting for them

    4. Hmm, all the talk of Gardens and things are fasinating. I would love to have an apartment type of area, compete with different rooms, different objects, it would be amazing. But for now, I'm really only looking for doll furniture, i.e., sofas, beds.

    5. I would LOVE to be able to collect furniture. ^_^ I'm making Sanyu a couch right now because I don't like sitting her places where she's easily knocked over.

I :aheartbea props, though. I still haven't taken pictures of Sanyu with her guitar. :sweat But I still love it anyway.

I want a mini Christmas tree for Sanyu. When I told my fiance that I was looking for a cheap mini tree he asked me why, since we already have a big tree to put up. For some reason it sounded silly to say 'But Sanyu needs a tree, too!' so I just left it be... Maybe I'll try to ask again later. :)

    6. I would love to, but I found only hairs and those cost more than my bobobie guy ^^" and shippiong costs are terrible. I'm moving out on my own soon and I was hoping that by this time I will have at least furniture for bedroom for my boy.
But it seems I cannot afford that ^^" 180$ *bobobie 1/3 doll cost* is what I earn in 2-3 months! ^^"

    7. I'm hoping some day to get a couch for all my dolls....I collect little chairs for them. I didn't really think about it until my mum came in and said 'Another chair?' They all have their own so I needed a fourth chair for my newest boy, but they don't exactly know about him yet >_>;; I was hoping they didn't actually pay that close attention....

    8. I am starting to collect furniture for my doll I have different chairs for them and I thinking about buy a table and chairs for them so then can have high tea on it.

    9. I have chairs, a very large child sized couch as well as 3 AG bunk beds for my props and just so my dolls and DD dolls have a place to sit. Other props like a scooter, horse and some other large props got to be to much. Although my kids have 2 bikes and 2 wagons they share and we use for props. Otherwise we try to keep it small and easy to store away.

    10. I have ended up with a little room for them on top of a dresser in my bedroom. I also have another area behind my couch with a couple chairs, that I might end up making another little room for them. I'm seriously considering building a shelving unit large enough to have 3 levels with different rooms, so there can be more variety. I really like looking for in-scale accessories and things for them.

I have an SD coming together soon, and he looks like a giant in my mini's room. I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with him yet! He'll probably end up with his own corner of a different dresser, with a couple items in scale for him.

    11. Well, I'm in the starting stages, but yes I'm definitely gonna make full rooms for my boys (and girls). Right now I opened together two of my shelves, put wallpaper on it and made a tiny living room for them with a wooden drawer (my jewelry boy which is totally in scale with them ) and a sofa made out of doll boxes and pillows: they live here now

I've just finished cleaning up the second pair of shelves and gonna put wallpaper on soon, and will buy armchairs and tables for it (I already have a small in scale fountain^^) but the furniture has to wait for a while (money robbed by the new littlefee releases :sweat). Until then they use a makeshift daybed made out of my Buddydoll pillow...

My room isn't that big (and I have to put my stuff somewhere ) and the boys are mostly 70cm so I have a hard time coming up with space for them.... they are not able to stand in their current rooms and leg room isn't too spacey, but bow with two dolly-rooms they are a bit more comfortable.

One day when I move away from my parents I may have space to set up a bigger palce for my dolls :D

    12. I'd love to be able to collect furniture too, but I don't think I'd have the room right now. I have a dresser from my old american girl doll up in my room though. I've been browsing salesmens samples on ebay, not such a good idea since everything is so cool xD.

    13. The top of one of our cabinets is supposed to eventually develop into a display/room-like area for my dolls. I don't have any furnishings for them yet, outside of a cabinet which is supposed to be their clothes closet, but I really want doll furniture for them. Granted, since my dolls are larger ones it makes finding things for them a little difficult, but I want to do more than just have them standing up on saddle stands.

    14. I've been trying to find cute sofas and stuff for my girls but I can never find anything that is reasonably priced, haha.

    15. Oh yeah. I've got a slowly growing collection of miniature sofas, chairs, tables, dressers, beds, pictures, a Oija board, a little hourlgass, statues, bottles...You name it. Anything I can find that looks like it might lend it self well to a scene gets snagged. I wish mini furniture was a bit cheaper though. Good grief. But many little items can be found at reasonable prices in the home deco dept. of stores like HobbyLobby, Joann's, PotteryBarn etc. And there are many little items that can be easily converted into doll props. Candle stands for pillar candles for instance can be easily modified into little coffee tables, bedside tables etc.

    16. I used to, but now that's not really possible :s I still have a little doll house for my Pipos and a sofa for some of the others and trunk for communal use. It all just takes up too much space! And I'd rather have the dolls then a complete furniture suit :D
P.S. OMG!! Points up at melorahviollet's avatar, what the heck's happening up there!? :o

    17. Unfortunately no I do not collect furniture for my BJD's. I one time wanted this throne chair and I saw the price of $350 for just a small throne chair and I was like, if I just saved 300 dollars more I could get another BJD, so I didn't get it. >_<;

    18. None of my dolls have furniture, but I'm semi-looking at SD-sized armchairs, so that they have a standard 'place' to be.

That's when I found this! It's a pin cushion shaped as an armchair. Unfortunately, it's size is far from SD size; it seems a good size for a tiny doll, though maybe too tall for a Puki.

    19. Little props? Always.

Larger furniture I don't so much do at the moment, though once I have a space set up to do it in, I do want to make a room.

      =^__^=

    20. I'm always on the lookout for furniture and props. It's fun to look at things with a "different" eye.
