Do You Dress Your Dolls For the Seasons?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. my dolls have their very basic style, tops and panties through all seasons, and yes, they can't tell the difference

    2. I love lots of layers like scarves and cardigans and overcoats, because I think they look more fashionable that way (plus lots of extra pieces to play dress-up with!). I'm sure if the dolls could tell the difference in summer they would all be very unhappy with me.

    3. Right now, no. I donโ€™t have enough clothes to do so! Maybe when I get them a more substantial wardrobe, I will. However, that depends on whether or not I can be bothered to move off my lazy butt and do so XD

    4. I do! Even though where we live In Miami, there aren't exactly seasons per se, more like summer and fall, but I like to layer my dolls and bundel them up during the latter months.

    5. With snowy forests all over where I live, I'm sewing a gray winter jacket for my Zera doll to get some nice winter photos while the snow's around.
I'll probably make some other coats for warmer weather since there are so many nice backgrounds for photos where I live.

    6. My boys usually wear their shirt and jammies around the house but if there is an occasion, they do dress for the season and event. I am just currently making their clothes so right now focusing on winter type apparel as well as a nice ensemble for the coming holidays.

    7. I dress mine for winter, that's for sure. They get bundled up in woolly jumpers and trousers, and they absolutely must wear socks and/or footwear. I cannot bear the sight of a doll with bare arms or bare feet sitting around when it's cold outside. It just makes me feel cold.

    8. I try to, but sometimes I run out of time XD

    9. I do for my tinies. It's easier and cheaper to buy little sundresses or hoodies with jeans for them than to find something I can afford in a bigger sizes. Haha! My poor msd has been with my the longest, but still only has one outfit! If I somehow find the time to get into sewing I will probably make seasonal outfits for her.

    10. I find I do, though not ultra-strictly. C=
Though Luca doesn't have a big wardrobe, so it's mostly a question of whether or not to have more than a t-shirt up top.

    11. No... the dolls wear whatever I feel like looking at, at any given moment. Right now, I've got some guys wearing hoodies with leather jackets, some sitting around in t-shirts or tanktops, some in shorts, some in jeans, and several of them baring a whole lotta skin in their strappy leather fetish-wear. One of them is wearing boxer-shorts, roller skates, and a biker jacket. One of them is bundled up in a leopard coat & a bare-midriff top. The imps go barefoot, the incubus is naked, and the merman wears only jewelry.

There is no such thing as weather in Dollyworld. There is only fashion. :aheartbea

They don't really do holidays, either. I do have a clown costume that my Akando wears for Mardi Gras, but I think that's it. And my SDCs love black-and-orange, but since every day is Halloween they wear that all year 'round too.

If you lived in San Francisco, you'd never take your sweater off all year.... except for that brief period between Labor Day & Thanksgiving. :XD: We don't have seasons here. We have fog. It sometimes gets warm, but you never want to go too far without that sweater in your bag. If you're heading to the beach, bring a scarf too. If you were to sit on Ocean Beach in mid-July, and you saw a doll in swim-trunks, you'd go "Brrrrrrr, put something on!"

    12. Honestly, I have not. I don't find it feasible and it is entirely too much work to get all my dollies in season specific outfits. I love the idea, though. I think if I had endless amounts of time and money I would.

    13. I do try to dress my dolls for the seasons. It really, really bothers me if I don't. I know they're not real, but... I don't know, they just have to be weather appropriate! It makes me feel guilty if they're not. I just look at them and go, "You must be so cold." It's usually only them being inappropriate for winter that bothers me. Most of my dolls wear pants in the summer, but with tank tops or T-shirts. Plus, they look better if they're dressed for the weather. Especially since I take them out and stuff. They'd look so ridiculous if they weren't!

    14. Totally! I change the clothes on all my crew about once a month. A lot of them share clothes so that helps. I try to keep up to date with the weather and holidays. Even if the change is small (like a change of shoes) it makes me feel better.

    15. I don't currently, as it was never something I ever thought of before, but I think (after I get the finds together) I will definitely start doing this, it seems very cute.

    16. I know what you mean there! I swear the only clothing items that properly catch my eye are sweatshirts, hoodies, jackets and coats so it would end up winter all year round! Winter wardrobe just has so much more stuff to work with, especially if you're dressing a boy doll.

    17. Not really, but I do try to coordinate with the seasonal colors. Spring lighter pastels, Summer bright colors etc. etc.

    18. Kind of, i guess. My guy wears long pants and a t-shirt in the summer, and that plus a sweater in winter. ^^; I do feel guilty when he's not dressed appropriately for X season.

    19. I try to but (despite having a huge number of boxes of clothes, several boxes of shoes etc.) I never seem to have enough in all the right sizes, for al the right season, for all the gang... Especially if I want the all dressed for the right sort of occasion (casual, or dressy or whatever). I started a catalogue of my dolls, their measurements and the clothing for each of them (some of it's shared, but most have outfits that are specifically theirs) so I could concentrate on filling the gaps when I'm clothing/shoe shopping etc... but ran out of steam/got distracted/ran out of time each time I tried to get going with it.

I figure that I don't need whole outfits for each season as some things will do for more than one season and things can be combined in different ways to make up suitable outfits for each season, but... well, it's complicated by the fact that dress most of my dolls dress like they've escaped from an E. Nesbit nursery, so much of it I'd need time to make myself as that stuff mostly isn't available out there off-the-peg.

    20. I try to, but my collection has gotten so large that it's hard to keep track :sweat
