Do You Dress Your Dolls For the Seasons?

Jun 23, 2010

    1. I think it's a really fun concept especially when I see things like doll bathing suits, shorts, mittens and wool coats. I am to have some seasonality to the clothing I have for my dolls just for the fun factor. I've got warm wear and shorts but would love to add a couple bathing suits for fun.

    2. Sometimes, I make shorts and short sleeves around spring and more long sleeved and elegant things in the winter.

    3. I always feel bad for mine when it's cold out, because I don't have winter attire for them :P I keep meaning to make them little jackets and such.

    4. I find myself buying warmer clothing for my doll in the winter... So it may just be an unconsious motion --- because I am cold, my doll must be too? idk. It's fun to think about. It's chilly today, but Luci is dressed in a short skirt and t-shirt but if i take her out sometime soon, I most likely will dress her for the weather.

    5. Almost all my dolls have seasonal outfits, but that basically just boils down to 'winter' and 'summer' clothing (as the region they're from doesn't have true springs or autumns). I really enjoy making seasonal items like gloves, scarves and the like. Most of my dolls have very practical clothing, but winter items let me make things a bit more luxurious (while still being practical!)

    6. {LAUGH!} You said in one sentence what took me two paragraphs of waffling.

    7. Yes I do, now! I had taken one of my dolls in the high heat of summer to a meet up w/a thick jacket & jeans and every time I looked at him I felt warmer than I was so now all my dolls dress in season. I know its a mind thing but I can't help it. At home they usually stay in PJs :P

    8. Actually reminds me of something I did over the winter. I was looking at my Tiny, and she was in this above the knee kelly dress and it was really cold out...And looking at her was making ME cold! So I picked her up and made her some warm jammies. XD Same with my MSD girl, taking her out in the snow was making me feel even colder with her being in short skirts and such so I bundled her up in sweaters and things. She even has a scarf and hat. Now that it's getting warmer though I'm thinking spring things, frilly sun dresses, shorts, capri's, pants, T-shirt's, tanks.

    9. I dress my dolls for the seasons. Seeing them standing on a shelf in summery things when it's cold and rainy makes my shiver! Unfortunately I only have short-sleeves for my bjds so far, as I only got the dolls this summer, but I'm looking for jackets and have them in jeans.

    10. Of course! Although I like winter clothes, I put my doll in shorts when it's warm outside!

    11. yes i do! i make all of their cloth so every season they get something new to wear, and they build up a wardrobe slowly over time^ ^;; they also get new cloth on their birthday[ i guess you call that, when they first arrive at the house] . Occasionally they get halloween clothing or Christmas clothing...depends on how much time i have.

    12. I do - they have got seasonal outfits, cosplays, formal, casual & sportswear. I sew, thank goodness....

    13. Definitely! :D I'm still building their wardrobes, but I try to put them in clothes for the seasons. Especially coats in the winter. >w<

    14. Nope. None of my dolls have more than two outfits, and I can't really be bothered for summer/winter/in between outfits. I like them to have very specific looks and it takes me a long time to find clothing I like that really suits them. Not to mention I prefer the look of long sleeves and pants, so finding outfits that suit warmer weather would be a struggle.

I can see why it would be a cute idea to change outfits for the seasons, but when it comes to having multiple dolls and being very picky about clothing, it's just not very realistic for me.

    15. My dolls get changed with the seasons as well as certain holidays & themes. It seems so wrong that when it's cold the poor dears are in summer dresses. Plus I like to change for Christmas & then again for New Years. That's when they get to wear their fancy gowns. Sometimes I'll do a "theme" usually a color & I put them all into the same color outfits.

    16. Most of the time, yes. I think it's fun to dress them how the weather is, and it gives me an idea of what clothes to put on them when I might not have any ideas :)

    17. I confess I tend to put less on them during summer and more during winter. I also have the habit of covering them with a towel or something when I put them away.

    18. My Eric's culture/career restricts him to wearing only black..and living in a state where it's over 90 degrees F for 8 months of the year, I kinda feel guilty :p So He has a few light, sheer jackets

    19. Oh, I am so going to go for this idea. Now I have an excuse to buy more clothes. Etsy is my friend.

    20. I do dress my dolls to season appropriate clothing (if Shalunia's fur cape can count for winter clother for her). ^^
