1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you ever wonder where your sold dolls are now?

Dec 5, 2021

    1. As I was scrolling through some pictures, editing my profile a little I just had a thought about the dolls that have gone through my hands. How much fun I had playing with them and taking photos, selling them eventually for one reason or another. Do you ever think about what they look like now or maybe even follow the person on Instagram or some other place to see what their new home is treating them like?

    2. I think about them a lot and wished I'd of kept them, so now, I rarely and if ever, sell a doll. I just box em up and take them out on occasion. I use to didn't want too much money tied up in dolls, now I don't care.

    3. I rarely sold dolls that I owned for a long time.
I usually sold heads that didn't work out, or I got tired of making work (i.e. just couldn't force myself to buy a body, customize etc.). So with those I don't really care where they ended up, there's just no attachment.

Many of the ones that I did own for a while actually went with people that are locals, and people who rarely sell dolls. So I know where these are, and that they are cherished there.
Does it make a difference to me? No...not really. I wipe my dolls before I sell them, so to me they just return to a blank shell again someone else can work with. If I'm really attached to a doll, I don't sell it.

However, I do miss owning some of them myself. I would never seek them out again, or plan to re-buy, but there were a couple dolls that I just really enjoyed during the time I had them and I sometimes miss what they represented.

    4. I have no idea where most of my "formers" are these days... and I'm okay with that. Once I get to the point of sending one on, I've given up any attachment I had to them.

    5. I know where a few are as sold to friends, but unless I check sales records no clue. I do miss a few and if I could afford to would offer to buy back a few, but would need to win a lottery to afford the value some now have.

    6. Some i do!
I once dyed a doll to have vitiligo and i loved the result but i just didnt bonds with said doll. I also have a bad memory and cannot remember who i sold them to so i cant even search em...
Then theres alot of dolls i sold to a friend so i still see those lol

    7. Project dolls that I put a lot of work into are the hardest to let go for me. But some friends own then now so it's nice to see them being loved.

    8. Sometimes, but usually not. When I let a doll go, I've already decided they're not mine anymore and I have no control over what happens to them. Most of the time, once I have my money and the doll is safely rehomed, I don't really think about them again. The only time I really do is if I strongly regret selling them, and then sometimes I wonder if I'll ever see them pop up for sale.

    9. It's been a while since I sold a doll but I used to at least go look at their initial new home pictures. It made me happy seeing how excited their new owner was to have them. And more recently, I saw a doll on instagram that I sold ages ago with the exact same custom faceup still intact and it made me wish I could see where all my other sold dolls were and how they currently looked. Thinking about it made me miss them but then I thought about how many fun adventures with different owners they've probably had.

    10. I sold off my Luts Raven Romance and IOS Sezz because they didnt match the bodies that I had :atremblin I just know that they are happy and better off with a new loving parent:hug:

    11. I've only ever sold one doll head, and that was to someone in my local group. I get to see him every now and then and it's nice to know he went to a loving home. As a second-hand buyer, I like to try to update the previous owners and show them what I'm doing with them. They like it a lot. :3nodding:

    12. Right? It's the best feeling when you see a doll you used to own getting the love they deserve. I usually sell if I don't bond. But happy to see their new adventures. I have sold a few that I never see posted. It makes me wonder what the new owner does with them.

    13. Only some of the dolls I've sold pass through my mind from time to time as I kind of regret letting them go. There are some I've sold that I forgot that I'd even owned!

    14. I do wonder about one doll I sold early on. She was a Dreaming Doll Misora. I sold her to someone here on the marketplace quite a few years ago. Now I regret selling her. She is such a cute sculpt and would fit in well with my current crew. I'm sure that the person who bought her loves her, and I would enjoy knowing what is happening to her now.

    15. I think about this a lot. I do all my sales on Instagram, and I almost always follow the people I sell to, hoping they’ll post pics of the dolls I sold them, so I can see them being loved and enjoyed in their new homes. I know that’s being overly sentimental and a little corny, but I guess that’s just the kind of person I am. lol :sweat

    16. This might not be exactly what you had in mind, but in 2017 I sold a doll, and a week later the tracking showed he arrived at the buyer's. But the buyer not only never sent me a message or left feedback, they haven't posted on DoA since! So I always wonder what happened. Who knows, maybe that was the doll that turned them off the hobby completely! :shudder

    17. I try not to think about it.... :abambi:

When I sell dolls, I usually have a bit of a bitter feeling because of it not working out. I hope that their new home (whether that's with who I sold them to or someone else down the line) will be able to better appreciate the doll. But for me, not knowing is part of that.

To be fair, I've never sold a doll I personally did a faceup or intensive mods to. I imagine those make you more curious. :aeyepop:

    18. I do sometimes wonder, if I see another of the same sculpt, but not enough to search them out. If I'm selling a doll I haven't considered them part of my collection for a while if at all, so I don't feel attached enough to keep track of where they are once the new owner has them.

    19. I definitely feel you there on that one, once I've decided to sell it kind of seals the deal and it's just the doll to be sold. I have seen some people sell dolls or heads with the requirement that the buyer doesn't wipe the faceup and keeps it the character, I suppose I wondered if anyone here might have come across or done anything like that
