Do you feel like your dolls have to have a friend or significant other?

Jan 7, 2006

    1. I dont necessarily think that they have to have friends/significant others. But their backstories disagree with me.

    2. Y'know, I was totally one of those, "My goodness, it's just a doll, it doesn't have feelings!" people until I had a small group going. Now there's totally a group dynamic and I'm feeling sorry for my big SD13 because the next-largest doll in my family is a Lati Green. Poor Elena looks like Gulliver. So now I'm saving up for another large doll simply because my girl looks lonely all by her tall self.

    3. YES, I DO.

      I totally planned to get Crobidoll Yeonho first, but I fell hard for A-S Antonine and he was limited so I went ah heck and got him. Being the idiot that I am I thought having a 70 wouldn't be so bad, until I remembered that the very little number of friends I had who owned dolls too ALL have MSDs.

      Dante's boyfriend's a MSD. Pretty as they look together, I facepalm whenever I see them standing together. Shun barely comes up to Dante's waist. :doh

      Thankfully I'm waiting on my Yeonho's body now, Reiss is Dante's brother but heck it if I care, at least they'll be standing proportional to one another. XD;

    4. YES, I DO TOO.

      So, I planned a doll's backstory, after that's finished, I planned another doll's backstory, and then I'm like, "Oh! He would go well with the [previous] doll!" And so, they all have a significant other. Which means when I planned ONE doll's backstory, it's actually gonna be TWO, darn.

    5. yes i do infact the reasion i purchase the first doll is due to i want my fav novel character and his lover to be with me all the time XDDDDDDDDDDDd

    6. Yes I do! Be it a significant other, a friend, a sibling, a classmate, a rival, a neighbor whatever, I'd want my doll to have at least one other doll to interact with. I've backgrounds and stories (sort of) planned for my dolls, so I hope I can "bring to life" some of the characters in their stories. It'd be too lonely otherwise, and they'd all be stuck with only imaginary friends!

    7. I would LOVE for my Blythe girls to have a boyfriend, maybe just one really cute one for interesting photo shoots. I am not in love with the girl turned boy versions that others have done, though there are some pretty good ones out there. I guess Blythe will have to date G I Joe, and hope his "big headed attitude" will be enoght for her.

    8. I wasn't really into the whole "doll relationship" thing for the longest time, whether it be boyfriend/girlfriend, sibling, best friend, etc. Two of my dolls, Loa and Blisdon, were always pretty much a couple, but past that there really weren't any ties between them. Then I decided that my School C, Ozzy, and my Tanpopo, Clover, looked too much alike to not be related, so they became brother and sister. Oz was the only one in my group with a last name, so Clover took on his last name, and instantly it was just love. The idea of them being related was just too cute to me. I changed Loa's aesthetic recently and she ended up with a carrot red wig, magically matching Ozzy's hair! So because of that, she also became his sister and now has the same last name as well. And now another doll I have been planning for awhile, an SD boy, is probably going to be Ozzy's best friend. Interesting how the family dynamic kind of caused a few of my dolls to randomly develop backstories with one another!

    9. I don't think they have to! To each his own I guess and if you have the room to store them :)

    10. yes i guess i do feel they need a friend or significant other =]

      i only have one doll right now (i bought my second doll to be his lover but wasn't feeling her and neither was he so i sold her)
      but looking at my plans each doll either has a best friend or a significant other. in one case a doll will have both. and since she will be photographed mostly with her best friend i felt like her boyfriend needed a buddy lol. but one of my friends is going to get a boy his size from the same company and that might be good enough for me. then again maybe ill get another boy. and he can be the other girls BF.

      the only exception so far is my first doll because as i said before i sold his match. he may end up with a lover or friend again someday though. ill keep watching soom lol. i seem to plan my dolls in pairs

    11. Yes.
      "My dolls" all have a significant other and a "best friend", but they're all pretty chill with eachother.

    12. No even though I haven't gotten the doll I want yet my friends call the doll I want my best friend. XD

    13. I definitely feel this pressure, from both my storyline and the dolls. xD I had to rein in my internal character creation when I realised that I was just trying to add partners for people, and those partners didn't have sustainable personalities on their own. Now my personal rule is, would I get that doll/use that character without their partner? If yes, then I add them to my going to get list. If no, then I continue to brainstorm, and figure out what I want to do.

    14. Not really.. well, not a significant other, but it's nice that I'll be starting off with 2 and they can be friends. XD;; But I wouldn't be like way sad for one of them if they didn't have a buddy.
      THEY'D STILL HAVE ME. D,:<

    15. friend yes, course
      significant other...well I want a significant other first lol

    16. I was having this problem. I was thinking about selling my hujoo (off topic, I know) to get money for a doll. Then I decided I wouldn't do that because I would feel sad, my new doll won't have a friend, and then I found the perfect fit for this doll in the story of the doll I'm getting. So I'd say keeping it to keep it is pointless, and a different owner would love it more, BUT keeping it to hold together a story is a good enugh reason for me.

    17. I don't think any of them absolutely need friends, but that's usually how it just works out. Out of my current bunch, I have two real loners and I doubt that's going to change anytime soon.

    18. I anthropomorphize EVERYTHING, even trees and strips of fabric. So obviously, my dolls have VERY strong personalities and thoughts, including the possible want of a girlfriend\boyfriend. Though at the moment, I onlt have one girl and one boy, they are not together at all, just best friends. Ian, my ryu, thinks a girlfriend might be nice but only if she didn't get in the way of his videogaming, or if she had the breasts of a videogame character. Eleana, my soah, is lonely but has Ian, and he's always there for her so she doesn't openly look for a boyfriend. But maybe if I ever get more dolls their size one of them will find a soulmate... I dunno.

      Their indifference is probably due to mine. I have never been in love, and I don't really care.

    19. all dolls need atleast a friend ^_^ we have them so why can't they? they just seem lonely otherwise XD

      i know alot do siblings which i plan to do too. and lovers are just cute

    20. It'd be interesting, but I would imagine that one would be um... "protective" of their doll. XD;
