Do you find larger dolls overwhelming?

Mar 23, 2017

    1. No. I just love the 70cm dolls. I plan a 60cm girl, but nothing smaller. My doll is 72cm and he is perfect in size for me. Msd and smaller is just not for me.

    2. Yes. But just a bit. I love how detailed their clothes can be. My biggest doll is 60cm, but I’ve handled larger. So far, I haven’t met one that I felt I had to have. If/when I do, it’s going to have the best wardobe.

    3. I have only got two 52cm so far. Never seen a bigger doll in real life. But even 52cm, two of them is starting to seem overwhelming, my bookshelf is running out of space XD

    4. Naw. They're a bit big and heavy, but not overwhelming. I think it helps that I only have three right now.

    5. No they are a bit heavy as iamKathybrown said but that's about it. Mostly the weight not the size!

    6. Yes, a little bit. I envy for their clothing details, but i think they need too much room space.

    7. While I'm a big fan of large dolls because of the details, they are heavy. It takes strength to change the clothes.

    8. When I first got mine, I had no idea how large a 70cm doll really was. Honestly, I was imagining that it was just going to be maybe a little bit taller than like, an American Girl doll or something. But no, he was a giant! That said, I feel like I quickly got used to his size and it does make it kind of fun when posing him with real-sized life objects (like out in the woods). So a little overwhelming, yes. But definitely not a deal-breaker.

    9. I currently own a 46cm MSD and have a couple of others on the way around the same height, and anything larger than him seems like a lot more than I can comfortably handle. However, my only real experience with what would be considered an SD sized doll is my roomie's Doom Wawa so I feel that might skew my perceptions a bit. She's quite the lady haha.

    10. Sd 17 is pretty big. I admit my doll is big but wish to have bigger one like 70cm.

    11. I do, but then, I generally collect yosd sized dolls. I don’t think I’d have the space to store sd dolls and how do you transport them around with you for photography sessions/dolly meets?! I am hoping to buy my first msd doll soon though and she will be my biggest (so far).

    12. I like larger dolls. My largest is 72 cm, but I would love to have an even larger one.

The downside is that they need a lot of space. My 20+ YoSD-size dolls take up as much room as my 7 big guys.

    13. Nope, not even a little. I love the size, the weight, and just feel of holding them in my hands - and finding props/clothing for them is a pleasure. Not that I don't love my tinies and minis, too, but if I had to choose just one size, I'd always go for the big guys first. But...it might help that I'm a mom; I've lugged around much larger, completely animate and squirmy people for hours on end. Compared to that, these big hunks of docile resin are nothing! :XD:

    14. I would buy a real human scale with no doubt ( if o could afford them). I like the big dolls. But I don’t have a lot of them because they are too expensive

    15. I prefer the large dolls. The only time I felt intimidated is when I first got Falhen out of the box and saw how big an SD really is. But its honestly the size for me. I can't articulate why it is I prefer them so much. Some people mentioned how the SD's are more adult looking and realistic and I definitely gravitate to that atheistic as well.

    16. for me personally the bigger the doll the more comfortable i feel, the smaller it is the more scared i am of losing it's accessories or pieces, i feel i need to be more careful when handling and bringing places while with bigger ones i feel theyre just more sturdy and i have more confidence handling them and their items

    17. Yes! I got an msd for my first doll, and I really regret it. I like tinies so much more because they are easier to make clothes for, you don't have to worry about lugging them around because they are so small, and because you can fit so many more of them! Also depending on the tiny, there are many options for doll houses. It's also easier to make them props IMO because they are tiny and don't need to have impeccable detail.

    18. I used to be. My first 3 bjds were minis and I planned to never leave that range. I would go to doll meets and the SDs would seem huge and awkward to hold. Eventually though a larger doll hooked me and now all my dolls are 1/3 and I'm used to them. They are more difficult to store and photograph for me but I prefer the clothing options and slightly more mature look of the bigger dolls so they win.

    19. My first doll was a 75cm big boy :D so I was a little overwhelmed because I never really thought about how big he would really be when he arrived :) but despite him not being able to fit into my display cabinet, I absolutely adore him :)

    20. It's my favorite size. Have a variety of dolls in 60-72 cm range. Don't mind the size, the space required, don't mind the cost - it's the weight that bugs me most. Sometimes it's a huge problem.
SDs and 70+s are the best ones for me, craft-wise. So much more possibilities than a smaller dolls provide! (I also have 2 MSDs and a plenty of tiny anthros so I can compare).
