Do you get jealous when someone buys your type of doll?

Jul 24, 2005

    1. I have no problems with someone else buying the same kind of doll as any I have. It makes me happy there's more of them out there and it means I will get to see more pictures of them in the galleries.

If I get jealous of anything, it's those who have what I want. XDDD It's like others have said, it's more the "I wish I had that doll" kind of jealousy. I'm happy they have the doll they love and I have had opportunities to buy some of the dolls I want but I refuse to pay the prices they are being sold at so that's why I still don't have them. To each her/his own and what s/he is willing to pay. :)

      :candycane LM :candycane

    2. I don't see why it'd be something to be jealous of. I love seeing other people's versions of dolls I have/had. :candycane

    3. No, it wouldn't bother me. I actually wish that some more people had the same doll that I'm getting just because I like to see what there's would look like. (different hair/eyes/faceup/style/ect. ) but when I was like, 7...I used to get so mad when my friends got the same build-a-bear (Sounds stupid, I know.)

    4. I don't really know why people would get jealous about having the same doll as someone else. There's only so many types of dolls, after all.

    5. No, not at all. I am glad when everyone get to buy the dolls they want.

I think the more the merrier. I love to see other owner's pic. So I really hope a lot of others buy the dolls I like

    6. I've been known to get a little envious when people have a sculpt that I want and I feel they're not allowing the sculpt to live up to its "potential." But it's something I keep to myself, and on the whole I'm really happy when I see other Soonys and Seolas around. I love the way they can look totally different and at the same time completely recognizeable!

    7. No, not at all. I'm glad when as many people as possible buys the type of doll I buy. I'd be worried if nobody buys my type of doll. I have very old dolls in my family, those that are not popular (few people own that type of doll) lose value. Not that I see my dolls as investment (We have never sold a doll) but it is depressing and sad to see a doll which cost US$100+ to buy in the 1980s sell for no more than US$9.99 on Ebay today just because that brand was not popular internationally, people don't know about that type of doll, not many people own those dolls. It's just depressing. I tried to "rescue" those dolls from Ebay but the seller refused to sell outside the US! I can't say which brand it is because the manufacturer is still in business. So, I'd be worried if nobody buys my type of doll.

    8. My Sam is completely not similar to other Kyle Reese... He is kind, timid, true. He does not smoke also it not the gay.))) but I am jealous it of those Kyle Reese which very much famous and popular. I very much love my boy, and I would like, that about he have learnt all world. :*)
and really I am jealous Valet. He will be Dollshe Bermann. It is very expensive doll, and it only 77 pieces in the world, but I will save all the same for it money. And I very much envy all who has Bermann, and all time seems to me that all address with it incorrectly.))

    9. Not at all. If I find out someone I know got the same type of doll, I ask to take pictures together. I love seeing same types of dolls together with different eyes/wigs/faceup etc. :D

    10. Not at all. I like seeing what people do with the same doll as me. Sometimes it makes me realize the doll has more potential than I think.

    11. I love seeing my dolls' sisters and brothers online, I like seeing the differences between them. My Gwenllian is a very girly girl, it makes me giggle when I see butch Soulkid Snyder girls online because that is so far away from Gwen's personality and taste.

I would only feel a little strange if a close friend bought exactly the same doll as me and copied that doll down to the smallest detail. I would feel very strange about that, I would also feel a little responsible if a friend got the same doll as me and didn't like their doll as much as mine. I would feel like it was partially my fault they spent a lot of money on a doll.

    12. I think I might if they tried to make a doll look exactly like mine, other than that I think its cool to see what people will do with the same type of doll. I especially enjoy it when I can't tell it's the same model as mine. To me that makes each and every doll ever made so very special. ^_^

    13. Getting jealous over someone just because they have the same mold as you to me is a little ridiculous. What I do get a little upset over (not so much jealous over) is when I find a mold I like through the company website, then go check the database and someone has customized the mold exactly like I had pictured. I'm not upset over them having it first but if I customized my mold in that same way, me looking like a copier. Blah, blah, blah I know there's only so many ways of customizing so people are bound to have the same ideas but it still makes me paranoid .

    14. I love it when people get the same dolls as me, cause I love seeing just what they do with the doll. The differences and how they both have different personalities despite being the same doll. Its so unusual.

I do get kinda grumpy when someone has a cooler looking doll than mine. Like, how when its the same doll. Its that envious thing going on there.

    15. I don't get jealous at all of people buying thee same type of doll- an owner on dA actually influenced me into getting the Sapphira, and I couldn't be happier with him. I think it's great if my doll or someone else's doll helps to convince someone to buy that mold- the potential owner of that sculpt has more than just the company photos to judge the mold from, and the owner has the opportunity to see all the things that can be done with that mold.

I am against, however, people buying molds with the intention of completely copying another person's doll, but that's a bit of a different issue.

    16. My girls' mold arent really popular :sweat
I have only seen one other on the forum actually, and I loved to see what she did with her.
She had her before I did though, and she inspired me to get her in the same color she had, just cause it was so awesome :o But she thought that was cool :)

    17. Not at all! For one, the molds I'm after don't seem to turn up too often but the few times I've seen them it's been quite interesting! My first doll I'm after is an AOD Qian and so far I've only really seen demure pretty girlies whereas my Tami (every doll I buy is one of my OC's "dollified") is a tough gunwielding red head! Its amazing what difference faceups and wardrobes make.

    18. I think it's silly to get possessive over a sculpt, especially when the person being jealous didn't sculpt the doll in the first place. :sweat I'd love to see more Belitas on the board, myself. I love seeing how people can take the same sculpt and do completely different things with it. :)

The only time I'd get jealous or possessive would be if someone bought the same sculpt and decided to do the same style of makeup, same wig, same eyes, basically duplicate my entire doll. Even then, I probably wouldn't say anything, because coincidences do happen. ;)

    19. I don't mind people having the same one just because no one can really capture the same character though I do get a little weirded out if they have the same name for some reason

    20. I sometimes get jealous but thats not beacause they have the same doll as me. but they have my dream doll. Hopefully that will go away whenever i get him
