Do you get jealous when someone buys your type of doll?

Jul 24, 2005

    1. I'll admit I do get a little jealous, but not simply because they own the same doll as mine. I only get envious if someone customizes a doll that I also own in a way that's much much prettier than mine. xD

    2. No, I like when other people talk about that mold.
I never really felt jealous about something like that...
Not even when I see someone selling that type of doll.
Even though I love JIDs very much.

    3. I'm a jealous person normally...though I do my best to hide it knowing it's very stupid XD I can envy a person for thier dolls, but I know that's just my way of going "They're so pretty...." :sweat

      A little more personal;

A friend of mine and I like the exact same doll... I showed it to her saying I was going to get him one day. We both have smiler tastes... and both are very jealous people. So you can guess what followed. :sweat It hasn't lead to any fights (that'd be stupid) but it has lead to some tenseness whenever one of us brings up our own plans for him... and especially if it looks like one of us will get him first... We'll get over it when we get used to the idea. We have on other, more important, things. It's just a silly little insecurity. :)

    4. Not really, I like how different the same mold can look, and I become curious what the other is going to do with it :)

    5. Not in the least. My BBB Mei is gonna be different to everyone else's, so no comparison really, and no need to get jealous of someone else having the same doll as me.

Feelings of jealousy about someone getting a doll model that I would love to have myself? I certainly hope not. I should be way beyond such pettiness at my advanced age. It would just motivate me to get saving up a bit harder so I can have my own one, that's all (which is a healthy motivation as the outcome is creative and not destructive).

      Phil.

    6. I am happy when one of my 'dolly friends' get a doll I like-- I will be able to see it in person :D On the other hand, I know I would be jealous if it was one of my dream dolls... one of those that I really would love to buy, not just like looking at, but can't afford

    7. I love the dolls I have dearly. Often I see dolls that I would love to have one day, but never ever feel jealous of the owner.

    8. Naw, I love seeing what others are able to do with the same model. There's some amazing customizations out there, and it's fun to see cool new ideas and twists to their own personal characters :>

    9. Nope. I like to see more Ttori's out there. And Bomi is a discontinued one so I don't see much of his sort at all.

    10. I'm a little.. ah.. obsessive over the particular girl that I own, so if I see another owner with one, I become a strange mix between ecstatic and jealous beyond words :sweat I'll often stalk that person's posts for a while and look for any gallery posts of that girl that they have.

I've never met another owner in person with the same girl as me, so I don't know what would happen in that case :o

    11. Nope I don't get jealous, just excited because I'd have one too one day. And I like to see how different the same mold looks with different face-ups. I don't look at box-opening pictures of any of the future dolls I want though because I don't want to spoil the surprise ;)

    12. My mother, sister and I all just started collecting AOD dolls, my mother and I each have a Qian doll. Their face ups are soo different, they look like different dolls all together. I even took photos of them together to show the difference.

    13. I'd love to see more people have the same type of doll I have <3
Because from the few owner pics I have seen, I still find it absolutely amazing that, despite being all the same sculpt, I can barely tell they're the same doll with all the customizing you can do with them ;)

I do have to admit, though, I may get a bit jealous when I hear someone having a limited doll that I want/ed ;3; But not in a way that I say "oh, they don't deserve them, ONLY I SHOULD!!1!" No, no, no xD It just makes me wish I had that doll even more xD

    14. No, I'm just corious about other owners who have the same mold and I really interested at show do they costumizase the same mold

    15. This. Insecurity sucks hard, especially when you're very aware of it orz.

    16. Um, I'm actually I'm mostly just jealous that I can't afford to buy all the dolls I want, and others can. I know a lot of people work hard to save up for their dolls, like me. But there are others who's lifestyle allows them to spontaneously buy whenever they feel like it. ENVY is a very bad sin. :(

    17. No, i'm actually kinda sad that the dolls i like aren't more popular.
Nothing is more assuring to me then seeing an owner photo. At one point i almost flipped sides on what doll i wanted, but after looking at owner pics, i realized if i had i'd have made a HUGE mistake, and been devastated when she actually arrived.

I like seeing how different it can be, sometimes how drastically different a head can looking is shocking. I may not like every one i see, but i still like to see them.

    18. I'm with you, meloncakedoll!! I work hard for my dolls, and I wish it were just a little easier... :)

I don't get jealous at all when other people have the same mold! In fact, I feel like my favorite companies don't get enough love, so when I see certain molds, I fangirl the heck out of them!!

    19. This for me too~
I have a popular type of doll, but I have only found 2 others of the same sculpt with a female body. It is exciting to find other people who like the combination. I guess I would feel some rivalry/intimidation if they had the same sculpt with a similar style or personality, but it hasn't happened yet.

PS lol My Precious, Els always look different to me too. I can never identify an El, although I can spot a Shiwoo a mile away.

    20. I will admit a bit that I probably will get a tad jealous if someone got a doll very similar to mine. Especially if I have shown them the doll and they somehow get the money and get it before me and show it off! >_< Ugh.....hate when somethin like that happens..
