1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you get jealous when someone buys your type of doll?

Jul 24, 2005

1. I suppose I wouldn't say it'd upset me.
However if a close friend of mine eyes the same doll I've been eying on, suddenly decides they have an interest in the doll.
It upsets me. It also makes me jealous because they've that opportunity to actually get the doll.
But you know, if you've been eying a doll, waiting for the right moment, and then your closest friends buys it before you.
Yeah, I'd get jealous.
And rather upset :C

2. I wouldn't say that I get jealous, per say, when someone buys the kind of doll I want. I'd be a bit sad and envious only because I didn't have the sufficient funds to purchase one myself. It's still lovely to see what others will do with them!

3. no because these dolls are on public sale, so there's bound to be others talking about / buying them ~

now, if someone replicated a personality or recreated a custom that i have , that would be a different issue !

4. In my opinion, I love to see more people with the same molds, because I think it's cool that even though it's the same type/mold, each one can be different in their own little ways, like the way they dress, and their face-ups too <3 I guess that's why I love BJDs so much in general XD hehe.. but I guess I could feel a bit jealous when someone has a prettier doll than mine ; _ ; ...but at least I wouldn't be the only one with the mold ^ ^;; Oh! and I totally agree with polty, because it would be a bit frustrating if a person makes a doll to look exactly like yours..but in a way it is somewhat admiring..... lol. :nowords:

5. I actually LOVE when i see that someone has purchased the same doll as i have. I love to sit down and compare them, what we have both done to our perspective dolls, and how differently they turned out. For example, not too long ago, Morriscode and i both brought our EID Ashanti to the meet. She had medium bust, i had large, and i think she had a company default face up. We sat them down, and it was amazing how much younger hers looked than mine. How much they looked like completely diffierent dolls. That always blows my mind. At one meet-up, we had 8 Shiwoos! it was awesome. Some of them didn't even look like Shiwoos anymore!

6. One of my favorite things about the BJD hobby is the customization! I greatly enjoy looking through galleries and seeing how different two versions of the same sculpt can be...it's inspiring. So, when I see that someone has a doll that I'm planning on buying (I don't own any yet, but that's in the works) I'm very excited to see how their baby turns out!

SO, no. I don't get jealous....quite the opposite, I'd say. :3

7. Not really. I do get jealous if someone else buys a doll I want really badly. ^^;

8. No, it makes me even more want to buy it!

9. I always like to see the diversity of the different dolls, even if they are the same mold. It's really cool. You get to see, instead of a different doll and different look, but just the different look of the doll, which is always thanks to the owner. You get to see their creativity clearly, and that's always fascinated me.

10. I dont get jealous hehe I get interested :P I like to hear other peoples opinion but not only that i find that even when
people have the same doll as me they look completely different cause they have different hair, eyes, clothes so your doll
is always unique in alot of ways. :)

x

11. Total opposite in fact. I was really sad when my doll's head was discontinued, because I think she's SO cute that I wanted to encourage more people to get her! I also love seeing other people who own my potential next doll because I want to see what they do with him to get ideas for mine!

12. I rarely ever sensed envy or jealousy in my life (they are so nasty feelings). Whenever someone buys a doll that I like I'm rather curious to see what the person does with the doll: face-up, wig, clothes. It's fascinating and sometimes inspiring.

13. Considering how popular some of the doll sculptures I've bought are, I'd spend a lot of time green with envy if I got jealous of every instance of someone buying the same type of doll as me! ;)

As it happens, I adore it when more people have the same sculpture. It's fun seeing what interesting things others do with the same doll sculpture.

14. Not at all, in fact I would love to see more people have my doll since I think I'm one of the only people to have the sulpt (5stardoll emily) on DoA.

15. I like people to get the same dolls as me on the forum as its good to swap tips, share clothing measurements, where to buy wigs, show different face ups etc... I just feel sad for the dolls being sold that I own! Just knowing they didnt work out for someone when they give me alot of joy, that kind of thing.

16. Sometimes I do, but I'd be more angry when someone buys the doll I already have (just because I showed him/her which I have)
Not that I have a doll now.. (yet)

17. You know, I had a funny dream just a few nights ago that a good friend of mine (a made up person, I don't know them in real life) ordered a Narae in the same skin tone as the one I just ordered a bit ago, same face plate, everything, and she placed the order like a week after I did yet somehow already had hers even though I had like a 2 month wait still ahead of me. She also had bought most of the same clothes and even the same wig for her that I had, so at this point I was beginning to think that she had somehow received MY Narae, and I was pissed. But after I found out that she had gotten hers so quickly because she actually bought it second hand off of someone, I wasn't even concerned anymore, because I ordered mine from the company and knew she couldn't have received my doll.

It was a very silly dream (and you know you're obsessed with a doll when you begin dreaming about it after ordering XD), but it reflects my sentiments on collecting pretty accurately. As long as someone doesn't obtain the actual doll that belongs to me, then it doesn't really matter. If my friend and I both want a doll, and the doll is available for both of us to buy, then I would encourage it. Me and my best friend both have Tanpopo's, and we love it that we have matching dolls. :D

The only time I could see this being a problem is if it's a doll on the marketplace or something. If I showed a doll to a friend and said "I think I'm going to get this!", then found out that that person turned around and bought it themselves, I would be pretty angry. But again, this is dealing with a specific doll, not a sculpt in general.

18. Add to Loagaeth's thoughts, I find it somewhat irritating when a company rereleases a doll they previously stated wouldn't be rereleased, but I don't really get mad at the people who order it. I bought a beryl when Soom first released her, fantasy parts and all in white skin. Now that they've rereleased her (and many others) in normal skintones w/out the fantasy parts, I get a little irked, but not enough to begrudge those who buy them. And I'm somewhat guilty myself. Like she said, we both have Tanpopos, and originally I bought mine first and then she decided to get one as well. When she told me she thought she wanted one, my immediate thought was "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT" (we always say we're each other's worst influences when it comes to doll spending). I had to sell my tanpopo over a year ago, but recently volks rereleased her, so I reordered. While our two don't match exactly, they are def partners in crime and best friends. (JUST LIKE US AWWWWWWWWWW) But if, say, she decided she wanted a Beryl because she loved mine so much, it would be wonderful, as everyone does something different with their dolls, mold is just a mold, your doll is your doll. Now if someone tried to make an Aquamarine just like mine, then I'd have some issues. ;)

(Just for funsies, here they are, Tanni & Clover, our Tanpopos)

19. I wouldn’t name this feeling jealous, but aim. When I see the one that I’m dreaming off, I understand, that I have to find the way to be together, and that’s it. :love

20. never! as my daughters and i both collect we have similar taste and it never worries me at all.
