1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you get obsessed when a new doll is coming?

Nov 9, 2009

    1. iam pretty much obsessed right now!!! :D lol
my gorgeous hunks from soom won't be home until probably late march, yet iam having so much fun looking for items for them and planning on outfits and organizing a place for them...i hope i don't go nuts here!!! but the best part is that iam having sooo much fun! and so is my daughter, so that is what really counts. i think we are both happily obsessed!!! :)

    2. Half the fun of getting a new doll is obsessing over finding the right eyes, wig, and clothes!

    3. ^ pretty much this! I also enjoy coming up with conceptual drawings and sketches of what I think the doll should look like. :>

    4. I am super obssessed with a doll I ordered in April who is still not here. It was ok the first three months, I ordered some clothes and wigs. I sewed my fingers to the bone. Getting ready. Then, nothing, no dolls, no information, cue the crazy. I am going right nuts. I look at pictures of her every day, check email for shipping notice ten times a day. I have even ordered three more dolls from the mp just so that I can have something else come in the mail and have something else to focus on. Is that sad and twisted? Its really expensive, thats for sure. I'm at the point now where I am so obsessed that Its pretty much all I think about. Yep, sad and twisted!

    5. Abso-stinkin-lutely! I get so antsy when I'm waiting for a new doll! I also find that even if I have a specific look in mind for the character I'm shelling, I usually come up with different aesthetics for the doll i.e. different eyes and wig color than I would have originally planned. I'm also VERY detail-oriented so I like to have the *perfect* colors picked out (and preferably bought) by the time I order the doll.

    6. I spend a bit of time thinking about what to sew for the doll, find a suitable pair of eyes, shoes and wig. Then I rarely think of the doll until it arrives.

    7. I'm a very impatient person, so waiting for something to get here damn near drives me up the wall. I wind up going to bed like 8pm and wake up at 10am attempting to 'cheat' time, make the days fly by sleeping them away.

With dolls I definitively get ahead of myself, I got it all figured out before I buy the sculpt, so I run around checking all sites I know for wigs that suit (and I would prefer to have at least a few different choices for everyone!), eyes that are better than the last pair I thought of, clothes, etc.

    8. Of course!
I can't stop thinking about it when a new doll is on the way, and I keep staring at pictures of the doll, day in and day out, until it arrives. ^^

    9. I don't get obsessed I used to get excited, but I don't do that any more because it takes so long for it to come that getting excited just makes it take longer.

    10. I don't get obsessed until I receive the shipping notice. Then I am online every chance I can get, tracking the package, trying to figure out when it will arrive so I can arrange my schedule to be home to collect it.

I even obsessed over a shipment of doll clothing, so imagine my horror when it went to the wrong city and state and then was returned to Korea instead of being forwarded on to me. All I can say is, I'm glad that shipment didn't contain a doll!

    11. Yes! I can't sleep throughout the night!

    12. Ooooooh of course.

1: Checking the status on the order EVERY THREE SECONDS XD
2: Checking out the window for a delivery truck, even if the status hadn't been updated to "arrived in <your country here>
3: looking for accessories and dolly sized stuff around the house xD
4: trying hard to keep yourself distracted but caaaant stoooop thinking about dolly arriving safely!
5: clearing up a space next to a spot in your house that you spend a lot of time at so that the new arrival can sit there with some of your doll family xD

    13. Well...I have been planning to get a Minifee girl and I'm already thinking of getting her furniture (as well as for my pukifee) I'm already thinking of wigs, photo stories, names, accessories, outfits, I'm a little obsessed with making sure I have everything ready for her when she comes home. When my Pukifee came home (which was a surprise from my Me-maw) I wasn't prepared at all. Since I'm buying this one myself, I wanna save up and make sure I have enough to buy her and her accessories. Unfortunately, some of that pre-dolly craziness will have to wait until I get out of the hospital. :(

    14. I definitely do the same thing! I got so excited about my girl, the FIRST thing I did afterward was gravitate towards a booth that had some doll clothes and bought her a lolita dress. Later, my fiancee got her a pink wig and another dress. I then waited several months for her to arrive so I could dress her, haha. I couldn't look at her sculpt with the face-up I got her, because I got her custom, but I would have been doing that the whole time if I could've.

I just couldn't stop thinking about her and wanting her to hurry up and get here.

    15. Yes, I get quite obsessed with the idea of them arriving ;__; in my case, the doll is already here but I need to complete the layaway plan with my friend before I can take him home, so all this anxiety and excitement tends to drive me nuts at any given day. But Its not healthy to always think about it, so I continue to save up my half for the layaway while keeping myself busy and not thinking about it much. After a few months, he'll be in my home anyways <3

    16. I think I definitely fall into the “obsessed” category. Especially now that I have a tracking number for the doll itself. I have to force myself not to track the package every few minutes. I have to tell myself; ‘ok look here Self, be reasonable, you don’t need to track constantly’ I have told myself that I can only track it at certain times during the day. So, once in the morning to see if anything changed during the night, once around noon, and once in the evening. It is still difficult not to want to track obsessively though.
During the time between when I ordered the doll and when I got the shipping notice I don’t think I obsessed too much. I did spend a lot of time looking at and buying clothing/eyes/wigs. But I don’t think I spent any more time than I spent prior to that looking for the right sculpt.

To be honest, I don’t think there is anything wrong with obsessing just a little. It is a hobby and something that is supposed to be enjoyable after all.

    17. I'm on the obsessed wagon. lol xD I'll be all incessant while I am waiting, talking about how amazing he is and what not...then he'll be home and I'll probably do nothing but complain about sewing for him, finding a place for him...and other things.

      LOL!!

    18. I am with out a doubt one of the obsessed people when it comes to waiting for a new doll! When they finally post the tracking for him/her or them I don´t even dare to count how many times I check their status position in one day. If the custom grabs them I litterly wants to cry because not only will there be up to 2 weeks delay, but in worst cases also a hefty tax and extra shipping fees etc. Trying not to be impatient does not aply to my dolls! :sweat

    19. Oh my gosh, yes. It’s fun, but I tend to feel distressed after a while if I can’t get the doll I am all hyped up for.

    20. I'm really an impatient person, so like Dee1 I tend to get distressed. Although I'm not waiting for a doll atm, I'm planning a couple and trying to redress/update my current dolls, so the past week I've spent my spare time shopping for eyes, mohair and doll clothes. It got to the point I was checking etsy everyday for new doll clothes.

I hate the production time wait for a new doll. I hate it so much I'm considering buying my next dolls second hand. One of the dolls I bought I got from a retailer who happened to have her in stock and that was so nice. But everyone else I've had to wait for. Usually the waits have only been a month to a month and a half or so, and I've heard people waiting like 6 months from certain companies and that would just drive me crazy.

If I'm spending that much money, I like to get my product quickly to assuage any fears of never getting the doll and losing out on the money.
