1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you get obsessed when a new doll is coming?

Nov 9, 2009

    1. I think the first 2 years, I was so obsessed, I nearly had a nervous breakdown over my Angelsdoll Micheal order when it kept getting delayed. The S.O. almost banned any more dolls over that. Everything had to be there and perfect for when the doll finally arrived. But then I sort of calmed down and now, I'm a bit blah when a doll, head or item I ordered shows up. I rely on Mint on Card now and they always come through so I'm much calmer, then when I used to order directly from manufacturers. O_o That could have a lot to do with it.

    2. Yes and no...I guess I've learned that there is nothing I can do but wait...and so I try to find other things to distract me...which usually ends up being me buying loads of goodies for them. Then there is that point when I am just tired of waiting...and I start checking. I know good and well I have months to wait - but somehow I feel productive...haha

Otherwise I would generally say no, I don't. My obsession tends to happen up front before I buy the doll and making the decision of whether or not he makes my 10 doll collection max cut.

    3. Coming down to the wire for me. AKA The obsessive all nighter incoming of sewing for that doll.

    4. You know, about half the time I'm so super busy with life that I forget there coming! The last four I've gotten all showed up on crazy work days! So I'd just make it home and suddenly stumble over a box! I'd be confused then super excited!

I do have to admit that this next girl I'm getting I'm so so so excited for. I've been trying my hardest to keep from paying off the layaway all at once!

    5. I do, I always want to see what new dolls come out, because they are always different then the rest. :)

    6. OMG! There are times when I get very obsessed with a new doll that I am waiting for. I wll end up buying a few outifts for the doll, and end up spending a lot of money. Its a little easier on me now because over time you build up a large collection of extra eyes, extra wigs, shoes, ect for a particular sized doll. I am now getting more into MSD sized dolls and thats what I find myself looking at on online.

    7. Oh, yes, I get soooo obsessed x)
After ordering the doll, I spend all my time reloading the order page, I search his/her name if I don't have it already, I go check my mailbox everyday(even when I've ordered the doll only a week ago), and when the doll is finally at home, I usually get into a "AHMYGOD he/she's finally here, oh my God I can't believe it !!" state ^^

    8. Anyone else get that dreamlike oh my gosh please don't wake me up feeling when you finally get the doll home?

    9. I definitely do. That's why I can't take pics of box openings. It gets in the way of that feeling for me. I'm expecting an arrival any day now,and it's all I can think about. I do weird things when I'm expecting a doll though, like clean the house from top to bottom so it will be perfect when my doll comes home.

    10. I have a new girl coming in and she's all I can think about *___*

    11. I'm usually super obsessed during the ordering periods of dolls I buy, and the obsession tapers off during the wait itself. Which is a good thing, considering I usually wait anywhere from 6-12 months from the ordering period until I get my dolls!

    12. Totally obsessed and that's with dolls that are coming and also with dolls that I haven't even acquired as yet. I've got a bad thing for an Iple doll now and I'm sitting here coveting him even though he's really out of budget for me. When I know I have one coming, and right now I do actually, I have a non-topic doll arriving on M or T of this week I am constantly checking on where they are via tracking #'s. I'm never happy once they are ordered until they are in my hands. A pal is doing a lay-a-way for me right now to pay me back for some costumes I gave her, which is too lovely of her, and I'm totally obsessing over that doll even though it will be June before I see her. I'm already contemplating making clothes for her on one of her sisters.

    13. I wouldn't say obsessed, but I definitely get really excited and try to have stuff ready ahead of time if I plan to change anything.

    14. When my first doll was coming I read so much stuff of dolls. Sometimes I was worried that maybe everybodys dolls are better than my. So I checked my dolls firm pictures and sighed for happiness. Every time I watched those pictures I fell deeper in love. So my thoughts were in my doll about all the time. When First month was gone I started to bombard firm with questions. Yes I was obsessed : D

    15. Totally. When I'm not checking tracking numbers or staring at the calendar, I'm on ebay spending way to much money on things I could make and planning furniture I have to wait to build... It might get easier waiting for the second one I think - cause I'll already have a distraction. At least... I hope.

    16. Omg, yes! I am totally obsessed! lol I keep buying clothes, and looking at pictures on the website! Its so bad! I'm sure I've spent more on doll clothes then the actual doll itself!

    17. oh yes! I will buy lots of clothes or just look at TONS of pics while deciding how I want the doll to look! I also will order and get the wig and eyes MANY months ahead of time! HAHAHA!!! and just sit there looking at dolls and having random moments of spazzing about the doll! :D

    18. Yes. Even before I buy a doll, I'll start planning out a look for them. Once I've ordered them, I'm constantly looking at clothing, wigs, and shoes for them.

    19. I'm usually okay until I get the shipping notice. Then I start checking the tracking every five minutes and I even have trouble sleeping. On the day of expected delivery, I usually sit near a window over looking the mail box around the time that the mail comes, or all day if it's a different shipping method. I don't get anything done that day.

    20. I wouldn't say "obsessed," really, but I find myself having thoughts like:

"I wonder if that pair of cheap acrylics on the dresser would work until I can remember to order some eyes?"
"Oh sweet, I can recycle the wig I bought for X that just didn't look right!"
"Don't I have a spare pair of shoes in that size around here somewhere?"
