1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. I've been collecting BJDs since 2005 but I haven't had any friends that were also interested in dolls until we had a local meet-up a couple of months ago. I've always wanted to meet other people whom I could talk about dolls with or share ideas but the city I live in is quite small and I didn't even know we had other collectors here until I searched the forum and found an old meet-up thread from 2 years ago. Honestly, its a great feeling to finally meet other collectors. Now we try to have monthly meet-ups and so far there are five of us. I'm also trying to get my boyfriend in the hobby but that might take a while. :)

    2. I didn't have any friends in the same hobby when I started, but I made a lot of friends here. ^^

Maybe it's because the Netherlands is so small, we have our own BJD Convention where we see eachother and we meet quite often ^^

    3. I know one friend who desperately wants a BJD but can't justify spending all that money on herself.

Other than that the only doll buddy I have is Carol from Angelesque, she lives quite near my house and lets me know about dollmeets, lets me 'try before I buy' when she has stuff in stock, stuff like that

other than that I'm a bit of a loner in the hobby!.x

    4. Yup! I'm lucky to have made friends locally and online ^^ I think it's fun to meet up with friends and have a chat about things, doll related or not, and take photos of our dolls together.

    5. No...but I really wish I could. It would make me feel A LOT more secure in the hobby and with my doll if I did. It would also make me feel less lonely too since I am homeschooled and speak to no one really.

    6. I've gone to doll meets and I love meeting up with people there - other than that I've never met anyone who is interested in BJD's.

Tracy Lynn my daughter is homeschooled. If you look up Allybelle in my list of friends - she's into BJD's and loves writing if you want to send her a message you'll probably find you have alot in common.

    7. I do! My sister, my partner, a friend in my city, and a friend I met through DoA, and finally managed to meet for coffee when I was in her part of the country recently! I'd love to have more, but its awesome to have the ones I do! I've also got people who I'm friends with on FB who are dolly people, who post on my photos and things.
And, because I'm crazy, I count most of the people I know on DoA as friends :D

    8. My best friend collects dolls, but most of my doll friends I met through the hobby :) And my best friend only really collects 80's and 90's barbies, so I have different friends who collect different dollies and we are all a VERY bad influence on each other lol!!!

    9. I didn't have any one I really talked to about my dollies but I have been talking to two people online recently that have become some of my best friends :D

    10. I wish..... :(

    11. A real life friend introduced me BJDs and DoA, actually. I count myself very fortunate to know someone already into this hobby.

    12. I'm very lucky to have my best friend and room mate in the hobby already; he's the one who introduced me to it. (I prolly already posted in this thread saying that.) I always kinda thought it'd be neat to have more friends in the hobby, but I'd have no idea where to meet them. I have no problem with online friends, but I don't feel like the forums is the best place to meet people. I always worry people would think I was weird if I were to PM them out of the blue like "HEY, YOU LIKE DOLLS? SO DO I. Let's be friends, k?" I mean, I'd do that, cause I ain't scurred. It's more that I doubt it'd get anywhere. Probably scare people more than succeed. :v

    13. Not really, no. I'd never even heard of them except for online, I've never known any people that even knew what they were. I agree with you, Tracy Lynn, I'd probably be a lot more secure in the hobby if I had others to talk to about it :P My boyfriend isn't even half as excited as he pretends to be when I show the new pants (coat, shirt, hat, toy) I've made for my dollies.

    14. I have several! Even though a lot of us went our separate ways after a couple years. My ex-girlfriend from several years ago got into the hobby with me, and we dragged a few of our mutual friends into it with us. Before that, a girl I knew had a darling boy doll that she loaned me for a few months after I won a bet.

Now, though, my brother's girlfriend and my fiancee are both into dolls, too. I'm really relieved! Neither of my roommates are, though. I think the hobby disturbs them a little. Alas, more room for dolls for me.

    15. I have my best friend :3
She brought her doll to school one day and we ended up skipping the classes for the rest of the day so we could sit and just look at that beautiful boy :D Now that I'm a bit more in to the hobby I'm happy to say that I have lots of doll friends~~

    16. Yup, I was lucky, I have many doll friends in life, I hope to find more friends at here!:)

    17. I wish!! ;w;

I would just like someone around my age to be close friends with and share the hobby together!
The kind of person who enjoys just doing dress up and being silly and talking to their precious doll like I would or bringing it around strange places confidently haha. Not to mention all the other nerdy crap I'm into!

One day, hopefully.~ But for now I feel like it's a bit futile. xD

    18. Actually it was one of my best friends who got me into dolls in the first place :3

    19. I discovered the hobby through a friend of mine, and now I also have some rather good friends I met in doll's meeting near home. :)

    20. I have one BJD friend. We met on text RPG forum and than IRL (cause she's from my city). I hadn't dolls that time, and she had one on it's way. She gave me the link for BJD site...
Now I have 5 dolls and 1 in plans, and she has only 2 XD This proved to be contagious...
